She's totally fine, but she gets sick about once an hour. And then is fine like nothing happened, laughing and toddling around. I'm breastfeeding and giving her water to keep her hydrated, so no worries. But this mamma is gonna be MIA until this clears up or reinforcements arrive. . . This serves as a reminder that all of life can wait when the big things happen. And that most of life is little things. I have a very strong sense of urgency about my work, and being benched for a few days is the type of thing that could have previously sent me into a bit of a panic. Cause let me tell you, when you're alone with a sick toddler, nothing gets done. I'll be lucky to eat, much less make it to the gym this afternoon or tackle much of my inbox maelstrom. And it's ok. Because nothing is that important. What's important is the bean is down for the count and needs me. So if you're one of the hundreds of people I don't respond to today—at least now you know why! My two favorite people in the world, the love of my life / the hottest guy I've ever seen @matthewlud and our baby girl Eulalie. When I look at them, I can't believe it. It's unreal that I have such a sweet, loving, beautiful family. Negotiating children and marriage is no small feat. My marriage is a huge priority to me—we fell in love fast and hard and it was mental and I never want to lose the pure, electric magic of "wow—you're my husband!" But pregnancy & the subsequent breastfeeding days took a toll on me physically that I'm only now starting to see fall away as Eula eats more solid food during this 2nd year of her life. I'm sad(ish) to see that time with her fade but extremely psyched to feel my body becoming mine again. For me, my marriage is a baby we have to take care of too, and I prioritize it as such. When she's grown and gone, we'll be the last two standing. Without love everything turns to ashes in my mouth—my career, the travel, my home. It's nothing without him. Sharing this life with him gives me deep joy, as deep as motherhood. As my mother says, I'm a one owner dog, and I reserve my vulnerability for my partner. It's just how I'm wired. I don't have a posse of best friends. I don't want that. I just want these two, and I put them before the whole world. As a working mom, I'm so mindful & sometimes even a little fearful about being totally present and savoring every last moment of these years we'll never get back.
