Shin Seung Ho is a rising star in the Korean entertainment industry, thanks to his impressive roles in popular dramas like “Alchemy of Souls” and "Weak Hero: Class 1". But did you know that he used to be a bodyguard for Red Velvet, one of the most famous K-pop groups in the world?

How Shin Seung Ho Met Red Velvet’s Irene

Shin Seung Ho’s past as a bodyguard for SM Entertainment artists was recently revealed online, after netizens discovered a photo of him escorting Red Velvet to their schedules. The photo shows him wearing a black suit and sunglasses, looking like a professional security guard. According to reports, Shin Seung Ho worked as a bodyguard after he quit soccer, which was his dream since childhood. He was assigned to protect various SM idols, including Red Velvet, EXO, and NCT.

And guess who his co-star was? None other than Red Velvet’s leader, Irene! The movie tells the story of two young people who pursue their dreams and find comfort in each other. Shin Seung Ho plays Woo Ram, a former wrestler who works at a burger shop, while Irene plays Hyun Ji, an aspiring anchorwoman who struggles with her reality. Shin Seung Ho’s Future Projects

Shin Seung Ho is not resting on his laurels, as he is already receiving new project offers. Among those is the movie “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint”, where he is rumored to work with Lee Min Ho and Ahn Hyo Seop. The movie is based on a popular web novel of the same name, which tells the story of an ordinary office worker who becomes the protagonist of his favorite novel after the world turns into a game-like system. Shin Seung Ho’s agency confirmed that he received an offer to appear in the movie, but nothing has been decided yet.

December Wrap Up

Wow. It has been a whole twelve months since we have started this blog and now we are on the final, official post of the year! A mega-post compiling the top songs of the past year, as well as official departures and disbandments of groups from 2019, will be up on our main blog @kpopsunbae​ (make sure to go and follow us there for more content, although it will be quite a bit different than what we put on this blog). 

As some of you may know, this blog (as well as the previous one, @kpopotd​) are project blogs that end once the year is done. This means that while we will no longer post on this blog it will remain as an archive. We will however be back with a third blog in the future as a continuation of this blog (it will cover 2016 and onwards!). This does not mean that we will go completely off grid once 2019 is done though! 

This coming year of 2020 has a lot in store for us, your K-Pop Sunbaes! We currently have a website to overhaul, an Instagram to properly launch, and of course we will continue releasing podcast episodes! Remember to follow us on Twitter too, our handle there is @kpopsunbaes (updates will be on there and you can interact with us too!). 

On a final note, we are so appreciative for the love that you all have given this blog over the past year. It has been such a fun experience and the three of us have had a blast working together on the blog, having meetings, and eventually completing just under 900 posts. We hope you will continue to support and follow us in our upcoming endeavors. We wish you all a very Happy New Year!

December 12, 2011: An incident occurs where a Chinese fisherman, who was illegally fishing, is confronted by two SK coast guards. He stabbed them and one died from the injuries. The fisherman was sentenced to thirty years in jail and a fine in April of 2012. December 19, 2012: The 2012 presidential elections were held in which Park Geun Hye is elected as the first female president of South Korea. She would eventually be impeached and removed from office due to corruption in 2017.

It stars Choi Min Soo, Moon Jung Hee, and Kim Soo Hyun.)  December 2009: Will it Snow for Christmas (This melodrama brought in around 10% viewership ratings. It stars Go Soo and Han Ye Seul.)

December 2010: Athena: Goddess of War (This action/spy drama is a spin off of the hit show IRIS. It’s in the same universe as IRIS, but stars Joo Woo Sung, Cha Seung Won, Soo Ae, Lee Ji Ah, and Super Junior’s Choi Siwon. IRIS’s cast also made cameos throughout. It averaged around 15% viewership ratings.) December 2011: What’s Up? (This musical drama stars Lim Joo Hwan, BIGBANG’s Daesung, Lim Joo Eun, Kim Ji Won, and Jo Jung Suk.)  December 2011: Vampire Idol (This sitcom style drama stars Lee Jung, Davichi’s Kang Min Kyung, Lee Soo Hyuk, Kim Woo Bin, and Hong Jung Hyun. There are also a couple idols as supporting characters including ZE:A’s Kwanghee and Girl’s Day Bang Minah.) 

December 2012: School 2013 (This is the fifth installment of the popular “School” drama series. This iteration stars Jang Nara, Choi Daniel, Lee Jong Suk, Park Se Young, and Kim Woo Bin. It did pretty well, bringing in over 10% viewership ratings.) December 2013: Prime Minister and I (This 17 episode drama stars Lee Beom Soo and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA. The main OST is a song called “Footsteps” sung by SHINee’s Taemin. The show brought in over 5% viewership ratings and won two awards: the Best Couple Award for the main characters and an Excellence in Acting Award for YoonA.) December 2013: You Who Came From the Stars/My Love from the Star (This hit romance/fantasy drama stars megastars Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun. The duo had previously acted together in the movie The Thieves. Dal Shabet’s Serri and Subin, former miss A member Suzy, and former 2NE1 member Dara make cameos throughout. Lyn, K. Will, Younha, Hyorin, Huh Gak, Sung Si Kyung, and Kim Soo Hyun all participated in the OSTs. The show did incredibly well and ended up selling out products that the characters wore, being the highest rated drama of it’s time (not only in South Korea but throughout Asia), and bringing in over 20% viewership ratings.) 

December 2014: Healer (This action drama stars Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young. The show averaged around 7% viewership ratings, but while it only did moderately well in South Korea it boosted Ji’s international fandom immensely.)  December 2015: Remember- War of the Son (This thriller stars Yoo Seung Ho, Park Woo Sung, Park Min Young, Min Namkoong, and Jung Hye Sung. K. Will, Jooyoung, Jang Jane, Jang Han Byul, and Bobby Kim participated in the OSTs. It averaged around 15% viewership ratings, and won a few awards at multiple award shows.

FILMS:

December 23, 2009: Jeon Woo Chi: The Taoist Wizard (This fantasy/action film stars Gang Dong Won, Im Soo Jung, and Kim Yoo Seok. A 2012 K-drama spin-off was made with the same main character played by Cha Tae Hyun, although the rest of the show’s plot was different. It was the third best selling movie of the year.)  December 9, 2010: Finding Mr. Destiny (This movie adaption of the musical of the same name, stars Gong Yoo and Im Soo Jung. It did well at the box office, bringing over a million admissions.)  December 1, 2011: Spellbound/Chilling Romance/My Girlfriend Can See Ghosts (This rom-com stars Son Ye Jin and Lee Min Ki. It was the 7th biggest movie of the year.) December 25, 2012: The Tower (This disaster movie stars Sol Kyung-gu, Ki Sang-gyung, and Son Ye-jin. The movie did very well at the box office and become the first movie of 2013 to hit five million theater admissions. It was sold to multiple countries and eventually got an English dub with voice actors such as Buba Kachow, Erin Fitzgerald, and Todd Haberkorn.)

December 11, 2013: Way Back Home (This movie, which is based on the true story of Jang Mi Jeong, stars Jeon Do Yeon and Go Soo. It follows the story of a woman who unknowingly attempted to smuggle drugs out of Paris and is caught, and how she eventually got back to Korea. It did fairly well, bringing in just under two million theater admissions.)  December 18, 2013: The Attorney (This law drama, which was inspired by a true story, stars Song Kang Ho, Kim Young Ae, Oh Dal Soo, ZE:A’s Im Si Wan, and Kwak Do Won. It became the 8th best-selling movie in Korea of all time with over 11 million admissions. It won many awards at various award shows.)  December 24, 2013: The Suspect (This action/thriller starring Gong Yoo was a box office hit, bringing in over 4 million admissions. It received praise from various western newspapers and reviewers.) December 31, 2014: The Tenor - Lirico Sprinto (This movie, which is based on the true story of Bae Jae Chul, stars Yoo Ji Tae, Yusuke Iseya, and Cha Ye Ryun. The movie took eighteen months to film and six years to fully complete.)

December 12, 2012: Sungah was added to the line-up of Nine Muses. Her first comeback with them would be with “Dolls”.

This week, weeklygirlgroups is featuring UNI.T! Managed by The Unit Culture Industry Company, UNI.T consists of 9 members that were decided through the survival reality program The Unit. All the idols who competed on the program had already debuted. The final lineup was decided in 2018, a few months before UNI.T made their official debut. Hong Yui Jin // Euijin

The center of UNI.T, Euijin is also the main dancer. Summary: Somin Jeon vowed she would never love again. But her irresistibly handsome colleague had other plans in mind and that included her falling in love with him. Again. 

Epilogue

“Tae-hyung!”

Tae-hyung lifted his gaze from his paperwork to see Somin storming into his office. Woo-jin was chasing behind her, his face in full panic.

“Somin, don’t do this,” Woo-jin was pleading her but she wasn’t listening.

Stopping in front of his desk, a hand on her hip, Somin gave Tae-hyung a look of black thunder. Jiwoo, who was standing beside him and waiting for him to finish signing the paperwork, slowly backed away from the table, her terrified gaze on Somin.

“Why did you give him overtime?” Somin shouted at him.

Woo-jin threw his hands in the air. “Oh, God.”

Pressing his lips together to keep his self from smiling, Tae-hung sat back in his leather seat. He crossed his legs, put his hands together and formed a steeple with his fingers, regarding the couple in front of him with amusement.  

Then he said slowly, “We have an urgent meeting with the board later, Somin.”

Her brows lifted. “Urgent meeting? Does he even need to be there?”

“I already told you, Somin,” Woo-jin said, pulling on her arm. “I’m one of the directors now. Of course I need to be there.”

“What he said,” Tae-hyung answered, tipping his head to Woo-jin, still trying not to laugh.

Somin shrugged her boyfriend’s hand off her. “But we have a date later,” she began to whine. Looking at Tae-hyung, she snapped at him, “He’s already booked the restaurant.”

“And the hotel,” Tae-hyung heard Woo-jin mutter unhappily.

“And he’s going to ask me to marry him!” Somin slammed her hands on the desk, leaning forward to hiss, “And I’m going to say yes.”

Jiwoo dropped the files she was holding, her hands going to her lips in shock.

Woo-jin’s eyes grew wide and his jaw was slack as he stared at Somin’s back.

And Tae-hyung lost the ability to think and speak.

Somin straightened up with a smug smile.

“So will you cancel the meeting, Mr. Kim?” she asked sweetly.

“Man, you got it so bad for her,” Tae-hyung said when he passed by the couch and saw his best friend, Woo-jin, staring at Somin Jeon’s picture on Instagram. “I can practically see the hearts floating around you.”

Woo-jin grinned and chucked a pillow at him. “Shut up.”

He took the seat next to him, taking a sip of his coffee. “And to think you told me to date her. You are such a moron.”

“Why?”

“Because it’s obvious that you like her,” he pointed out in exasperation.

Woo-jin was silent for a long moment. Then he put down his phone and looked into Tae-hyung’s eyes. “But she doesn’t. Like me, I mean.”

Tae-hyung raised a brow. “Are you sure? Because if you’re not staring at her, she’s staring at you.”

He blinked. “Really?”

“Yep.”

“Well, you must be just seeing things,” Woo-jin sighed. “Because Na-eun told me she’s in love with somebody.”

“What if that’s you?” Tae-hyung asked, putting down his cup on the table.

“But what if it isn’t me?”

He glared at his thickheaded best friend. “You know, for someone who’s nauseatingly optimistic all the time, you’re actual quite the negative person. So what if Somin is in love with someone else? She’s still not taken. You still have a chance.”

“I don’t want to ruin what we have now,” Woo-jin murmured and immediately, Tae-hyung had the urge to throttle his best friend. “And what if the guy she loves feels the same way? I don’t want to be in the way of their… love.”

“So you’ll just give up?” he ranted. “You’ll just step aside when that happens?”

“Of course,” Woo-jin smiled sadly. “What else can I do? If she’s happy, then I’m happy.”

Tae-hyung pointed at him. “That’s loads of crap. You can’t be happy. I know I wouldn’t be.”

“We’re not the same person, Tae-hyung.”

“At least take a shot, Woo-jin,” he urged. “You will never know until you’ve tried.”

“I will,” Woo-jin assured him with a chuckle. Giving him a long look, he went on with a wistful smile, “But if it’s the other guy she wants then I’m not going to force it. I’ll let her go.”

Shaking his head, Tae-hyung muttered, “I won’t lie. That attitude pisses me off.”

“Frankly, if it can’t be me then I wish it would be you.” Woo-jin stood up, patting the shoulder of a shell-shocked Tae-hyung. “Because I know you’ll treat her right, Tae-hyung. I know you will.”

“Should we stay?” Jiwoo whispered uncomfortably to Tae-hyung.

Tae-hyung grinned at his beautiful girlfriend.

She had the right to be uncomfortable. Somin and Woo-jin were kissing passionately in front of them, like it was only the two of them in the room. It’s been almost a year since they’ve started dating but the fire between Somin and Woo-jin was yet to quell. If they were not together, they were talking about each other. And when they were together, they showed too much public displays of affection that the Chairman almost banned intercompany dating if Tae-hyung hadn’t persuaded him otherwise.

And to think Somin told him once that he and Jiwoo were sickening to look at.

Tae-hyung had been the happiest when he heard that his two best friends were finally together. He’d been feeling guilty for a long time for being the person to come between them. He shouldn’t have accepted Somin’s confession that night. But he didn’t want to hurt Somin and he didn’t want Tae-hyung to get mad at him for breaking her heart. So he accepted.

It would be months later when he knew he made the wrong decision, realizing Somin was in love with Woo-jin all along.

Now, seeing them so happy with each other, it shouldn’t have surprised him at how fast this relationship was quickly developing. But to think they were getting married... damn, Woo-jin sure had gotten ahead of him so fast.  

There was a loud sucking noise when Woo-jin pulled away from Somin.

“Somin, will you really marry—?”he started to say but Somin put a finger on his lips before he could continue.

“Hush, sweetheart,” Somin whispered, giving him an affectionate gaze. “You will do it exactly as you had planned to do.”

Woo-jin laughed and squeezed her. “How the hell did you even know—?”

“You know Hara can’t keep secrets. So,” Somin turned her head to look at Tae-hyung, “About the meeting?” she asked pointedly.

Tae-hyung had to sigh. “Fine. I’ll have it rescheduled tomo—“

“Let’s go, Woo-jin,” Somin ordered before he could finish talking, dragging Woo-jin out of the room. “I’ve still to change my clothes.”

With a laugh, Tae-hyung watched the two leave.  Woo-jin glanced over his shoulder to give him a grateful look and he waved him away with a grin.

"Remember when they were still fighting their attraction to each other?" Jiwoo asked him with a dreamy sigh. 

"I remember," Tae-hyung said dryly. 

She looked at him. “All’s well that ends well, right?” 

Tae-hyung wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her down his lap.

“Right,” he whispered. “All is well now. Now would you like something else to remember?”

Her eyes warmed with affection. "Yes, please."

He was laughing when he kissed her. End.

Kenapa lebih suka Ignazio dibanding Gianluca sama Piero?

Funfact,

Selama belajar menulis fiksi, saya "menabung" banyak karakter. Beberapa saya ambil dari dunia nyata, beberapa saya ambil dari publik figur yang inteviewnya banyak tersedia di youtube. Karakter-karakter ini nggak harus masuk semua di cerita kita. Tapi ini membantu kita untuk membuat karakter yang konsisten dan nge-blend dengan alur cerita.

Nah, di antara banyak figur yang saya tulis karakternya, anggota Il Volo ini masuk. Kenapa? Karena mereka adalah tiga orang dengan karakter yang sangat berbeda tapi bisa bekerja dengan baik.

Saya faham bahwa persona online di interview mungkin berbeda dengan karakter asli di dunia nyata. Tapi lagi-lagi, sebagai bahan pengayaan cerita, kalian bisa memulai mengenali karakter orang dari cara mereka berpakaian dan cara mereka berbicara. Untuk memperkaya deskripsi.

Nah, kalau karakter ketiga orang ini dibedah maka karakternya akan demikian:

1. Gianluca Ginoble

Gianluca Ginoble itu paling ekstrovert yang kalau libur bakal mengunjungi banyak teman-temannya. Mengajak mereka pergi ke pantai dan bermain sampai malam. Suka banget selfie tapi paling pemalu di setiap interview.

2. Piero Barone

Di antara kedua temannya, Piero Barone mungkin paling cinta dengan dunianya. Dia sangat suka bernyanyi. Suaranya paling deep dan terasa paling matang.

Kalau ditanya tentang apa saja kegiatannya sewaktu liburan, jawabannya adalah:

Berlatih. Entah itu latihan fisik atau latihan bernyanyi. Dia bilang bahwa untuk menjaga suara agar tetap bagus, dia harus benar-benar workout, melatih nafas dan melatih otot diafragma. Selain itu, dia juga harus benar-benar menjaga makanan.

3. Ignazio Boschetto

Berlawanan dengan Gianluca, Ignazio Boschetto adalah orang yang paling introvert tapi paling lucu dan paling rame saat diinterview. Instagram Gianluca hampir update setiap hari. Sementara Ignazio jarang banget update. Kalaupun update, dia cuma memforward postingan orang lain lewat story.

That's why kita perlu meluruskan bahwa introvert itu tidak selalu pemalu dan demam panggung. Banyak publik figur yang bisa bekerja dengan sangat baik di panggung tapi sangat introvert di dunia nyata. Kalau di Indonesia, Tulus termasuk salah satunya.

Ada satu lagi kesalahpahaman tentang introvert yang perlu kita luruskan. Introvert tidak selalu tersisih dari pergaulan. Mereka bisa saja suka berteman dengan banyak orang. Saya termasuk salah satunya. Di kehidupan nyata, saya gampang banget diajak jalan. Bahkan sama orang yang baru kenal sekalipun.

Tapi ada masanya saya benar-benar jadi couch potato di kamar. Nonton Netflix seharian atau malah doing nothing dari siang sampe sore. Baru habis itu mandi, ganti baju dan membaca buku. Saya pulang ke rumah keluarga saya dua pekan sekali. Karena saya juga butuh jatah weekend untuk diri saya sendiri.

Balik lagi ke Ignazio. Saat ditanya apa yang akan dilakukan selama liburan?

Dia menjawab bahwa dia akan menjadi manusia biasa. Berpakaian seperti manusia biasa, dan tidur di sofa seperti manusia pada umumnya. Kehidupan penyanyi yang harus tour antar negara dan selalu bertemu dengan banyak orang terkadang melelahkan. Maka waktu libur adalah waktu yang ideal untuk dihabiskan di rumah. Tidur, bermalas-malasan di sofa dan ngobrol bareng keluarga.

Di antara kedua temannya, gaya berpakaian Ignazio termasuk yang paling sederhana. Cuma hoodie, kemaja flanel atau kaos oblong yang dipadu dengan celana jeans dan sepatu kets. Sementara Gianluca dan Piero biasanya memakai kaos-kaos designer dengan design yang cukup mencolok.

Jadi seperti itu teman-teman wkwk. Saya suka Ignazio karena persona dia di interview membantu saya menggambarkan orang introvert dengan baik ketika dia bersentuhan dengan ruang publik yang penuh dengan banyak orang.

Cara lain yang saya lakukan untuk belajar karakter adalah dengan membedah karakter-karakter di drama bersama teman-teman saya. Kadang kami saling menebak, di drama, kita paling relate dengan siapa?

Kalau belajar dengan cara ini, ada dua drama yang paling saya ingat karena teman saya banyak yang salah menebak tentang karakter yang paling relate dengan saya.

Drama pertama adalah Hospital Playlist. Teman-teman banyak menebak bahwa saya paling relate dengan karakter Chae Songhwa karena Songhwa adalah satu karakter cewek yang berteman dengan banyak karakter cowok di dunia kerja. Selain itu, mereka menebak saya relate dengan Chae Songhwa karena self lovenya.

Padahal, di antara kelima karakter utama Hospital Playlist, saya malah paling relate sama Yang Seok Hyeong. Seok Hyeong adalah introvert yang kalo ngomong suka ngasal, sayang banget sama ibunya dan nggak bisa marah sekalipun ada orang yang nyakitin dia banget. Selain itu Seok Hyeong bukan orang yang bisa menunjukkan kebaikan secara langsung. Sayapun demikian. Kalau ngasih hadiah ke temen, sering nggak bisa ngasih sendiri. Lebih sering dititipin atau nunggu temen saya pulang. Hadiahnya ditaruh di meja. Entah kenapa, mendapatkan ucapan terima kasih dari orang lain kadang membuat saya merasa awkward. Sebenarnya masih ada gerak-gerik Seok Hyeong yang membuat saya relate. Kalo lagi nggak mood ngomong, Seok Hyeong sibuk dengan handphone-nya. Saya, kalo lagi nggak mood ngomong, suka jalan sambil lari biar kelihatan sibuk. So, kalo misal ada temen yang nggak saya sapa, mereka nggak bakal sakit hati banget. Bisa mikir "Oh dia lagi sibuk". Ato kalo di ruangan lagi pengen diem, saya biasa pake headphone gedhe padahal nggak lagi muter lagu. Ntar kalo diajak ngomong ya cuman:

"Hah?"

"Hah?"

Drama kedua itu Dr Romantic 2. Temen-temen saya nyangka saya paling relate sama Cha Eun Jae. Again karena saya cewek di dunia yang banyak cowoknya. Padahal saya paling relate sama Seo Woo Jin karena saya sendiri pernah merasakan rasanya bertransformasi dari public enemy lalu akhirnya jadi bisa bergaul dengan banyak orang karena menemukan teman-teman yang baik.

Kalian kalo misal pengen belajar nulis, cara ini bisa dipake. Pilih tokoh yang paling kalian suka dulu aja.
