The future of transportation is approaching a turning point as now people are switching to EVs as they are the solution for increased fuel prices and environmental issues. The EV industry needs to cover a long distance to gain momentum. With Indian firms entering into the field of EV production processes, it appears that electric vehicles will gain popularity in the coming years and the increasing industrial involvement of businesses is proof of this. Why has EV uptake been so slow? EV growth has been recorded low in the recent years at around 0.8 percent, notwithstanding the debut of devices by existing OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and younger entrants. Two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers account for 17 percent, 79 percent, and 4 percent of total EVs in India. Dimensions to examine the shortcomings. 1. Insufficient Product Development One of several main reasons for the slow production of electric vehicles is the lack of developmental facilities. Most businesses have failed to highlight the utilization of EVs. The other reason for Ev's failed success is that EVs have failed to prove the facts stated by EV companies about the usability of their products. The absence of battery storage and lack of production facilities is why EV industries haven't gained that much momentum yet. Nevertheless, although it is one of the variables influencing EV adoption, the cost is not an essential factor. 2. Budgetary constraints As compared to combustion engine cars, EVs are marketed at a 20% and 50% markup for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. This initial cost is unfavourable to Indian buyers who'd rather have a less expensive IC automobile. The price differential grows in tandem with the vehicle's capacity. Poor infrastructure for recharging and switching The fact that there are some infrastructural issues present is not surprising. In India, we have about 2,000 public fast chargers to charge around 6 million EVs. The lack of charging facilities is making the usage impossible and due to this a severe infrastructural backlog has developed due to a lack of cell and charging standardisation, as well as the high capital cost of establishing recharging or exchanging facilities. Is there a positive outlook? Ola Electric delivered e-scooters valued at 11,000 crore rupees in India just two days after their sales started in September 2021. This corresponds to around 85,000 e-scooters sold at a cost of around 1.3 lakh per vehicle. When compared to the overall types of electric cars on the road, which is around six million, this is a significant figure for just a couple of days' worth of sales— indicating a change in customer behaviour and a growing preference for electric cars. The potential of electromobility is here, with traditional businesses catching up and innovative entrepreneurs emerging, opening the door for a slew of new technologies. The time has come for the ecological community to join on board with electric vehicles to accelerate their broad acceptance. Advancement in research and development will be more important than establishing recharging and exchanging facilities. In conclusion Although four-wheelers have had some ground to make up to do in respect of initial pricing and cost of production, two-wheelers will be the catalyst for mass acceptance. Although there are obstacles in terms of infrastructure and consumption, the potential of electromobility in India is bright, and it is promising a more integrated, ecological, and sophisticated transportation environment.

The transition to electric mobility is a promising global strategy for decarbonizing the transport sector. India is among a handful of countries that support the global EV30@30 campaign, which targets to have at least 30% new vehicle sales be electric by 2030.
An accessible and robust network of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure is an essential prerequisite to achieving this ambitious transition. The Government of India has instituted various enabling policies to promote the development of the charging infrastructure network. However, given the novel characteristics of this new infrastructure type, there is a need to customize it to the unique Indian transport ecosystem and build capacity among stakeholders to support its on-ground expansion. 
In India, transport electrification over the next decade is expected to be driven by light electric vehicles (LEVs), comprising two-wheelers (scooters, motorcycles) and three-wheelers (passenger and cargo). Apart from these, cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) are the other key vehicle segments being electrified
EV charging requirements depend on the specifications of EV batteries, as power must be supplied to the battery at the right voltage and current levels to permit charging. Typical capacity and voltage of EV batteries vary among the different EV segments, as shown in Table 1. E-2Ws and e-3Ws are powered by low-voltage batteries. The first generation of e-cars is also powered by low voltage batteries. However, these are likely to be phased out in the future, even if they continue in specific use cases such as taxis. The second generation of e-cars, as seen in the upcoming e-car models, is powered by high-voltage batteries. Electric LCVs will comprise of both low-voltage and high-voltage vehicles, depending on their load-carrying capacity.

K:Port® is a low-carbon, multi-modal transport solution designed to democratise e-mobility and inspire behavioural change within the communities it serves. Unlike established and familiar solutions it allows deployment in prominent and sensitive locations, with minimal environmental impact and a secure & flexible long-term legacy.
K:Port Woolwich, London, England:
K:Port® represents a fresh approach to e-mobility and a declaration of the ‘art of the possible’. Hewitt Studios’ intention is that this attractive, front-of house mobility hub offer will, with a clear focus on well-being, health and sustainability, help to motive consumer changes in behaviour.
Concept Hewitt Studios’ concept for K:Port® derives from the Japanese notion of “Komorebi”; the dappled light which occurs when sunlight shines through the leaves of a tree. First Projects A two ‘tree’ K:Port® has been recently been completed for Transport for London, in partnership with ESB Energy and Siemens Mobility, located adjacent to the Woolwich Ferry Terminal at Glass Yard. This provides eight 50kw rapid chargers (upgradable to 125kw), battery storage and smart energy management, as well as multi-modal travel connections to cycle route and river crossing. An integrated rain garden and sustainable drainage system enhances the site’s flood resilience.
A single ‘tree’ K:Port® has also been installed at a prominent site at Parish Wharf in Portishead Marina. It has been delivered for North Somerset Council and the West of England Combined Authority as part of the Revive Network. It was funded by the Office of Zero Emissions vehicles via Go Ultra Low West. Initially, two 50kW rapid chargers will serve the four charging bays, with more capacity to be added in the future as demand dictates.
