he'd known lauren all his life. courtesy of ransom canyon being such a small town but there was always that divide. sheriff's daughter and trailer park scum, nevermind the seemingly personal vendetta her dad had against them and then reid. he wasn't about to question the shift, he's just going to take his blessings and run with them. lucas didn't get many of those. they lay in the back of kit's truck on a bed of blankets, looking up at the night sky in silence. in their own company. lucas enjoyed the silence @everdawn brought about, and the noise, just everything lauren brought into his life over the past few weeks. "where's your dad think you are?" he knows she couldn't possibly have told him the truth, probably said she was at ashley's or some shit.

⸻   flashing   lights   shoot   across   the   dance   floor   filled   to   the   brim   ,   harvard   welcome   week   brought   with   it   ,   new   pledges   .   but   also   ,   his   fraternity   duties   .   breathed   into   a   new   role   ,   now   in   his   senior   year   .   though   ,   he’d   long   ditched   the   pleasantries   in   favor   of   reacquainting   himself   with   a   familiar   face   .   last   party   they’d   been   to   ,   they’d   agreed   to   steer   clear   of   one   another   .   not   that   he’d   cared   in   the   first   place   ,   but   she’d   done   so   with   the   interests   of   her   brother   (   his   best   friend   )   in   mind   .   respectable   ,   yet   not   desired   .   which   is   particularly   why   he’d   done   the   opposite   ,   and   five   shots   in   ,   his   clear   desire   hadn’t   faltered   in   the   slightest   .   hungry   gaze   drinking   in   features   .   ❝   you   know   ,   i’ve   been   telling   you   that   you’re   the   prettiest   girl   i   know   for   a   long   time   now   .   ❞   broad   shoulders   shrugged   .   ❝   should   probably   make   good   on   that   reassurance   some   day   …   ❞

a scoff breaks out of pink lips, mocha hues watching as her best friend flirts with yet another flier. is she surprised? no. she would be surprised if freya had made it past the flirty smiles lately. but perhaps iria is wrong, perhaps this is the one who- nope, here she comes. chuckling quietly, the brunette keeps on making a flower crown for one of the little girls staying with them. ❝ so what was wrong with this one, fre? too handsome, too tall? no, i know- too sexy! ❞ she teases, darting her tongue out to tease her best friend as @everdawn approaches.

his  eyes  lift  from  the  book  set  before  him  on  the  desk.  a  soft  smile  forms  when  he  sees  ariel  peeking  around  the  slightly  cracked  open  door  to  his  study.  relieved  to  see  it's  her  and  not  someone  who  would  scold  him  for  not  getting  his  rest  or  spending  too  much  time  in  his  study  once  more.  he  gives  a  single  nod  of  his  head.  ❛  i  had,  but  i  couldn't  sleep.  i  thought  maybe  a  little  reading  would  help.  has  it  already  been  an  hour?  ❜  a  soft  laugh  slips  from  his  lips  as  he  waves  a  hand  gesturing  for  her  to  come  join  him.  ❛  i  may  have  gotten  a  little  too  engrossed  in  this  book.  ❜  his  eyebrows  furrow  gently  then  before  a  smile  returns  to  his  features.  ❛  and  what  are  you  still  doing  awake?  ❜  he  questions  lightly,  almost  teasingly.

Taking a seat next to Taylor on the couch in the tv room, he puts an arm around her shoulders casually. "So, what are we watching?" He asks, turning his head to grin at her. "I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"

he thought they were promised immunity from the games for the rest of their lives. just like he thought katniss would stop withholding information from him. but the quarter quell had been announced and more truths came to light by her ��� and here they were again. their lives were practically forfeit and yet somehow he finds himself more concerned over how katniss was holding up. ❝ it's not fair, ❞ he whispers, eyes peering out the window of the moving train. out there, things looked so peaceful. much unlike the storm brewing within. but he holds himself together. for her sake. ❝ but i know you're going to get through this. ❞ his hand leaves his side to rest over hers and give it a gentle squeeze,

jacks's eyebrows raise, his lips twisting into a cruel smirk. "worried about me now, are you?" jacks drawls, taking a generous bite of a blue apple before tossing it carelessly onto the floor. it lands with a thump and a squish. the fate's acutely aware of what kind of situation he was about to put himself in that would compel evangeline to confess such things, but he opts to disregard it. jacks wasn't the type to offer comfort anyway. "well, don't. i'll be back in an hour. try not to kill yourself."

he's looking at the first year as if trying to decipher whether that was a very serious question or not. still wasn't entirely sure how to take @everdawn most days --- whether she wanted to kill him or not, and in all honesty, dain couldn't blame her. there was blood on his hands, blood that was tied to her. and he could never wash them clean.

his brows furrow, arms come to fold across his chest. wingleader takes what feels like an eternity to reply before a breath is expelled from his nostrils. "are we asking stupid questions today, cadet?" a quirk of his brow as he regards the surviving mairi girl. "because i have better things to be doing."
