𖤣.𖥧.⚘ ― maeve o'hara / open event starter / @exitiumstarters
after making a few rounds, her plans to be a wallflower for the rest night was going quite well. standing back and soaking in everyone and everything until it was time to silently make her exit. there were two people she had yet to see, her lovely daughters-- she could not wait to see what beautiful ensemble they'd dressed themselves in; she told herself once she spent some time with them and with rebekah she'd call the night be a success. "oh, yes please." the vampire gushed in a soft sing song voice to the waiter, her eyes scanning the tray of assorted confectionery, dipping a finger in one of the frosted items to get a taste.

Being used against his will for the last year angered him in a way he couldn't comprehend. He was still processing the emotions after the compulsion was lifted, but having to face the one who did it, who bled him dry of vervain in the basement of this building, was unnerving.
It was the same people who once told him they felt caged by the OEA... but they, in return, had been caging him. Maybe he understood their perspective now, but... now he wanted to strike back. With every nerve in his body, he had to prevent himself from striking first. He had half a mind to spike the guests' drinks with vervain or wolfsbane, but he knew he had to save face—play along with Klaus's orders. Refusing would give suspicions he couldn't afford.
He hadn't picked a side back then, but now his choice was as clear as ever, and despite appearances, it was not Klaus to whom he remained loyal.
TJ approached the guests with a forced smile. "Would you care for a refreshment?" he offered.

✧.*― peyton morgrave / open event starter /@exitiumstarters
she had sneaked away from the main party to find some peace and quiet for just a moment. it was odd to think that just a year ago she had felt so unfamiliar with the compound when she would visit it or drop charlee off. it was even more odd to think just a year ago she had been leaving in a trailer and now she lived in this compound. someone entering the room she had been using as her hiding spot gained her attention, a brow raising in jest at them. "you really shouldn't be in here, you know--" peyton said it, but she could care less about where the guest roamed as long as they didn't find the room with the kids in it.

A clink of a glass, the host and hostess stand before their guests, all gathered for the long awaited announcements.
“Though it may not feel like it, given our shared history, this is a day of celebration,” Laine began, a glance toward Klaus. His family may have done a poor job of selling their united front, but she was a consummate professional. “Our goal is the same. To rid this world of evil, for our children to have peace in the next generation and beyond. The things we do now will impact not just New Orleans but the world, not just today but all future tomorrows. Klaus and I have worked tirelessly to iron out our differences, to hear the voices of humanity and of the supernatural population. I think you will be pleased with what we are announcing today.” Pulling out her list, she handed her glass off to her partner. “Effective today, we will be instating some laws to be enforced by the OEA for the protection of all beings:
All malevolent supernatural activity must be reported to the OEA. All such reports will be investigated thoroughly to ensure their accuracy. False reports will be dealt with severely.
Your OEA-issued IDs are required to be on your person at all times and be scanned at the entry to all businesses.
Business owners are empowered within the systems we’ve installed to report malevolent activity or similar trouble caused within their establishment directly to the Department of Malevolent Enforcement.
A curfew is now in place between 11pm - 5am for supernatural beings, for the safety of all citizens while we root out the malevolent from the good. Exceptions are to be granted if passes are obtained; you must arrange passes with the OEA beforehand. Gatherings of 5 or more are prohibited without an OEA representative.
Please contact the OEA to make arrangements for any events, meetings, etc.
"For your assistance in our initiative to rid our city of evil, there will be systems in place to reward the help offered. As an example, if you report a malevolent threat, you might find yourself rewarded with an extra pass or two to enjoy yourself out past curfew. These laws will be made public after tonight,” she stated, putting her paper away. “And one more announcement before I hand it off to my liason. As proof of our good will, we are letting you in on an OEA secret. We have spent the last year exploring the possibility of replicating the cure for vampirism, obtaining the Salvatore blood required for this initiative. We are working with the best scientific minds in the world on this project. In the meantime, we’ve also developed an alternative, synthetic blood source. This will soon be available for the masses.” With a smile that conveyed a warmth she did not truly possess, she accepted her glass back from Klaus. “And now, our liason has some even more exciting news. Mr. Mikaelson, the floor is yours…”
Klaus’ facade truly was impenetrable and as he stood beside Laine exchanging pleasantries, everything about their union was believable. He hadn’t forgotten his own butchery at the gala and he was certain that the OEA hadn’t either— something that he hoped that they continued to keep in mind.
Taking the floor as encouraged, Klaus addressed their guests with complete confidence.
“First I must take this opportunity to extend my gratitude, your cooperation in joining us on this celebratory evening is most appreciated and we welcome you, as together we share our vision. With your compliance and willingness for change we are positive that our vision for our city will undoubtedly be of great success. In order for our union to truly have effect, then communication is of the utmost importance and as already stated by Ms. Moore, our intention is to rid the city of evil; ensuring for a safer future for all moving forward. You are the voices of our city and I intend to ensure that each and every one is heard. Together, we will be exercising a council, primarily of supernatural beings led by a representative that has been chosen to stand for their faction. Our leaders are as follows:
Banshees: Billie Mikaelson, Phoebe Garin
Dragons: Zeraphine Mondragon, Andreas Mondragon
Dryads: Hana Bang
Fairies: Skyla Fairlight, Blossom Bellarose
Hybrids: Briggs Mikaelson
OEA Rep: Dex Vane
Vampires: Artemis Mikaelson, Rebekah Mikaelson
Werewolves: Jackson & Hayley Kenner representing the Crescents, Keelin Malraux for the non-Crescent wolves
Witches: Bonnie Bennett, Avery Reynolds
“We ask that you to trust in our desire to succeed, to shape our futures together and to embrace the change that is destined to follow. The city is ours— so please, join us as we raise a glass and toast to change” lifting his glass, his steel hues cast a glance over the guests, before stating, “to our future.”

The year had been theirs to share, a few vacations, seasons worth of planning, and a lot of fun. She knew his therapy work hadn't come to an end, but she wasn't just around for the good bits. She was around for the real bits too. Seeing their friends again tonight had been really good, and though she talked to Billie regularly, she missed her like crazy when they weren't together. She also knew what being here tonight would mean for her, for all of them.
"I'd say more than an entire year's salary," Phee quipped, tapping her glass against his. She could see the tension in his body, much like Billie's. The gala, the betrayal from Klaus, it was still ever present.
Lowering her voice because it was no one's business but she wanted him free to express if he was feeling anxious, she asked softly, "how are you handling things?"
@exitiumstarters ✦ asher simmons

Everything about the facade that had been orchestrated by the OEA and now by the Mikaelson's felt false. From the moment he'd stepped into the hall of the compound, the atmosphere had been palpable, as if everybody in attendance was just waiting for the other shoe to drop. And whilst he knew that his father wouldn’t be amongst those attending; far too intelligent to risk it, it didn’t stop the unpleasant thoughts of 'what if' from plaguing Asher's subconscious.
The entire evening was going to be testing out those new skills he'd acquired in therapy, but he wasn’t going to allow for his anxiety – nor his obsession with locating his father rule him. Instead, he knew that he had to remain alert.
Despite the intention to remain alert, he figured that one glass of champagne wouldn't hurt and as he took a sip, he kicked himself for what he was about to say, "shit, this tastes more expensive than an entire months salary."

"Happy to help," she retorted, before looking rather aghast at his assumption. "I'm not disappointed." This might have been the strangest conversation she'd had this evening, was she supposed to be let down by that statement? "Does she know she's on your mind?"
"I'll keep that in mind for later," he said before raising a brow at her next question. "Not interested, already got one in mind," he was quick to reply, happy to admit his feelings for Saph with everyone but her, which weirded him out but he found himself nervous when he thought about telling her. It was obvious he was mad about her, so why couldn't he just come out and say it?

"I want to know about that even less," Annabel quipped back, "save those stories for Uncle Ol." His smile brought more of one out of her, the relief she felt at finally being back with him had never really run out. Not being able to see her son every day, it was an extra punishment added to her sentence. They'd stolen her life out of nothing but blind hatred, but she had one now. The rest of her life with her son, and she didn't intend to waste a second of it. "Got a few connections of my own," she teased, "that aren't Party City." Finding Oliver in the crowd before she muttered, "it builds character...and more importantly, it's funny." Busted, Annabel offered a slight smirk before feigning her innocence, "you'd think a place like this wouldn't run low. I bet that's driving the hosts crazy. I'm not sure I'd even know what fancy bourbon looked like." With a wink, she gave him a look that promised she'd share.
She knew the blanket statement was unfair, but she did see them all as culpable to some degree. "I remember," she assured, having taken her issue with his girlfriend's involvement but it had become easier in the last year to see puppet from puppeteer. Yet, the burden his devotion left on his shoulders had still not settled well. "This healing has to be her own," she explained, though it would not be the answer he wanted, "there will always be things you cannot fix for other people. I know you wish you could. You've always been a fixer. Love is wonderful, and it helps, it supports, it's endlessly patient. It doesn't make wounds go away. She didn't make everything go away for you either, though it might feel like it when you're focused on taking care of her. Those are battles you support each other through, but have to fight yourselves." She knew he'd defend his friend and by extension, his friend's uncle, and the loyalty to his self-made pack brought a renewed smile. "I don't know that I trust what Klaus is gonna do, but I do believe Briggs wouldn't screw you over." Bringing her hand to her son's face, she met his gaze, "it's my turn to take care of you now, kiddo. Time for you to get a deep breath. You might be an adult now, but I'm still your mother. Let the weight of the world go. Maybe Klaus, as looney as he is, has an idea. The kids aren't going to be at the forefront of the battle this time."
The thought of the Mikaelsons at a Crescent party was an image. "They'd be knocked on their asses, something I'd actually like to see," she joked. Hey, they judged her as trailer trash, so she could take a little joy in those elitists making fools of themselves in the bayou. "Like old times, I do like how that sounds." Her smile was quick to falter at his self-deprecating comment, a signal she'd not be listening to that nonsense. "Siblings say shit they don't mean," she reminded him, "especially when they fight. It doesn't make any of it true." There was a softer smile as he mentioned her being smart, "I think we gotta thank the prison library and daytime television for that." It was a sad thing to have lost all those years, but it didn't have to be a sad thing. Things only had the power you gave them. Right now, she had her child back within reaching distance, sharing in his problems, reminding him how much he was loved. That was all she needed. From the second she had that positive test in her hand, she knew she'd found her greatest peace in this life. "I love you, sweet boy." Finally fixing his hair if he wasn't going to do it, she shook her head. "It does matter. You're gonna have to apologize and so is she. You did it for them, and I know that because you're doing the same thing for Marni. You've put all the padding down so she never has to hit the ground too hard. I'm sure it made you feel better, gave you a sense of stability you could control--which should have been your dad's job. I think both things can be true, and neither have to be bad. You were dealt a pretty shitty hand by this life between your dad and me, and you did your best with what you knew. You're a kid, even now, at 25, technically an adult, you're still a kid." She didn't always feel like having her for a mother made her kid lucky, but her heart filled to the brim to hear him say it. "I'm the lucky one, I got you. I'm so proud of you, I will always be proud of you. We're gonna have fun tonight, alright? We're partying on the Mikaelson dime, I think that means go nuts."
“Dates?” he teased as his brow quirked, “ain’t so sure i’d call whatever they were dates, ma.” As always Annabel had managed to coax a smile from him, no matter how dire the situation nor emotion, she was one of the few who could heal a wounded heart with a single glance. “You look real nice, by the way” he hummed; guiding the conversation as his smile became wider, "uncle Ol looks -- uncomfortable." As Bel's hand came towards his head, he pretended to dodge before groaning as she ruffled his hair, but he didn’t bother to fix it. “Only the best at Casa de Mikaelson. There's plenty more where that came from. But I heard a rumor they were runnin' low on bourbon” his smile remained as he asked playfully, "you wouldn't happen to know where those bottles got to, would you?"
His chest tightened at the mention of the prison world and his brow creased as he shook his head “– not all of em’ are psychos, remember?” His prompting was gentle and he understood that there was a line. “Marni’s havin’ a real tough time tonight. I don’t know how to help. I just – wanna make this go away, you know? She’s always been so good at doin’ that for me, so why can’t I fix this? Why don’t I know how?” Listening to his mothers advice, he nodded and he knew that she was speaking sense, but he couldn’t help but add “Briggs’ uncle wouldn’t do anythin’ to screw him over and Briggs sure as shit wouldn’t do anythin’ to screw me over. We’re alright, ma. I swear. I ain’t lettin’ anything happen to you. Not again. I’m gonna keep you safe. You and Marni.”
Laughter eased from his lips, his nose wrinkling as he joked "crescent edge might just be enough to kill a Mikaelson” but he was sure to keep his voice low, “or at least knock one out cold. If the edge don’t, the potato vodka will.” There was another glimmer of a smile and Abel nudged his mom’s arm with his elbow, “we’ll have our own crescent party, just for you; like old times.” Bel had missed out on so much of her life, he wouldn't see her missing out on another second. OEA be damned. Releasing a steady breath now, he shrugged the tension from his shoulders “if bein’ human makes me an asshole then yeah guess I am” he murmured, lowering his head before muttering a soft apology. “I'm sorry“ he wasn’t one for self loathing and he wasn’t about to start now. Lifting his gaze he glanced towards his mom with an encouraged smile, “you’re crazy smart, you know that?” and his eyes softened, “I love you, mom. I mean it though, you are crazy smart.” He could sense the shift before her expression had given her away and he felt guilty for having brought it up. She was always so gentle with him, her love truly was everything. And as a child, even though she wasn’t with him, she had loved him so intensely, so well that in so many ways, she was always there. “It don’t matter– she was angry an’ we both said some hurtful shit. I spent a lot of time making excuses for dad. Guess over time I just did more harm than good. I always thought I was doing it for them, but maybe she's right, maybe it was just to make me feel better.” He inhaled a shaky breath, before forcing his composure as his gaze held onto his mothers, the relief clear from his expression, “i’m real lucky. Bein’ your kid, i’m the luckiest there is. I’ve always known that.”

Open for @exitiumstarters/ Juri Waite.
Now Juri wasn't the type to get exhausted easily. But the bartending was getting to him. Not because he thought it was beneath him, but because bartending while deaf was probably equal to juggling while blind, it's not impossible but it's a hard task. Juri did manage it though. As he turned around he placed the sticky notes to the newest customer.
"Just write what you would like to order and we'll see what we can do. ^^ Heads up we are out of bourbon for the next hour or so. "

Abe Financials had been of great benefit to her, an organization like the OEA did need funding to thrive. Yet, humans would always pour plenty of money into things that can protect them from monsters. Her budget was rather endless. However, she did want to check on her benefactors, keep them happy. Easier to keep the ones you have than seek out new ones.
"Both," Laine answered, though she had just been looking for the girl's father. "I wanted to see if you were having a fun evening? Since you're in here reading, I'd guess not? Are you not much of a dancer?"

"Karera o-chū ni iretekudasai (let them through)." Nova said not bothering to look up from her book. Nova flipped the page before speaking. If this was official business then she had to stop. "Are you here asking for my father or myself?" She asked.
