Had a bit of a funny thought today. In a zombie apocalypse, who is worse off? People who are constantly on the verge of being eaten by the dead? The elderly/very young who might be left behind to fend for themselves? The zombies themselves, perhaps?
If we add other supernatural creatures to the mix, then really the ones worse off are vampires, right? Because while they can’t be changed into zombies, their only food source can be. And they likely can’t feed off zombies either.
So in a zombie apocalypse, wouldn’t it be funny if people began to flock around known vampire lairs, knowing the vampires would protect them in order to feed themselves?
In such a scenario locations like Masyaf and Monteriggioni are great places for humans to hide at as they are easily closed off to keep zombies out.
But there’s also those people who would likely try to kill the vampires to take their secure locations for themselves, bringing the question of just how vampires would deal with them. As people are a limited resource now, do the vampires just kill them to keep themselves safe, or try to keep these humans captive as a food source?
Also, would the more ‘evil’ vampires go so far as to make human 'breeding’ farms?
I’d imagine vampires such as Altair and the Auditore would provide protection in exchange for blood donations, and the Templar vampires would go for enslaving and breeding humans.
The question always is, which type of vampire does a bedraggled survivor run in to?

Okay, so… I kinda have this… not really a fleshed out idea, more like… a thought?
Anyway, the idea is Altaïr and Ezio are two different kinds of vampires. Not like they differ in appearances or skills or capabilities but how they feed on humans.
Ezio was raised in a family of vampires so he’s more… willing to share his humans to those he trusts. Of course, only if the human in question agrees to it and they normally do. Auditores are known to be quite charming and a forbidden fruit is harder to resist when one has already tasted it.
Altaïr, on the other hand, doesn’t share nor does he have a lot of humans to feed on. Usually, he only has one and he feeds on other humans that are marked for death by the Brotherhood whenever his human needs to rest after too much feeding.
No matter how different they treat their humans, their humans remain healthy for a very long time and even develop some kind of bond with them.
So in this fic idea, I kinda like the idea that Masyaf and Monteriggioni have different ‘practices’. The humans in Monteriggioni are required to donate their blood (there are different plans they can choose from) and they are more or less adopted into a vampire family that they donate to. This means humans are exclusive to a ‘family’ (a family of vampires are usually vampires having the same sire but don’t necessarily share familial ties).
In Masyaf though, every human has a specific vampire they donate to. Sometimes it’s more like a business transaction, other times, the humans would follow the vampire around or even live with the vampire.
As for the Templars, they try to present themselves as the last civilization. They say their government is elected unlike the rulers of Monteriggioni and Masyaf, people live normal lives…
In exchange for a monthly donation.
How is that any different from Monteriggioni? There is no specific family that they donate to. They all donate to the centers.
And there is always a monthly quota that takes in consideration one’s weight and age.
When we take that in consideration, in this zombie apocalypse where safety lies by becoming the food supply of vampires, it’s a matter of…
Is it better to not know who is feeding on your blood and pretend that everything is just like before? Or is it better to accept the reality of your current situation where being human means becoming a ‘pet’ of a vampire.
