IMPORTANT NOTES

Being an older and more powerful vampire, my version of Dracula can walk in the sun. However, he has to take caution if the sun is particularly strong because it can cause discomfort. He will usually wear sunglasses and cover himself up (wearing long sleeves) but will not be turned to ash. As many people are under the impression that the light of dawn would kill him, he chooses to let them and use this misunderstanding to his advantage. He will even pretend to be fearful of the sun to encourage this myth to continue, as he also does for the sight of crucifixes and the myth about needing to sleep in the dirt of his home country.

To turn someone into a vampire like himself, the victim must drink Dracula’s blood and then survive the transformation. Corruptions are commonplace and many victims can reanimate as members of the undead. These creatures are not vampires, but they are doomed to remain conscious while their bodies rot and decay.

When he bites he does not leave behind ‘two fang holes’ but a long gash, caused by the extremely sharp canine teeth slashing at the throat. If he gets carried away then it’s not unusual for him to tear the throat open and kill the victim outright, though he usually sees this as a waste.

Dracula can enter any abode without invitation except for consecrated ground. He cannot enter a church, nunnery or other religious place without being invited as he is repelled by the Holy power.

Abilities include super strength, flying/levitation, super speed, immortality and swift healing properties, transformation into animals (particularly wolves and bats), control over animals (same as previous, but also extends to rats and flies), excellent senses of smell, sight and hearing.

BIOGRAPHY

1541. Romania. A country ravaged by several months of drought along with the rest of Europe, but the searing heat did nothing to cease the wars being played out across the land of Transylvania. Count Vladislav Dracula III was thought to have died a victim of the battlefield, significantly injured in combat and drained of vital blood. But something darker had befallen him and taken hold before his soul could leave his body, leaving him eternally tainted.

At first, overwhelmed by heightened senses and terrified of what he was becoming, Dracula hid himself away in the family castle. In a newborn haze of uncontrollable hunger he tore through every living person within its walls and drank their blood. A couple of the servants became hollow, undead creatures. The rest did not. To sate his never ending thirst, Dracula ventured out of the castle under cover of darkness to prey on travelers that passed through the mountains. He researched desperately, wanting to understand what was happening to him, but there were only vague references to be found in the oldest of tomes, whispered stories of a creature that craved blood-

By 1561 the Count had adjusted to the life of a beast and no longer wished to be contained by stone walls. He shouldn’t fear the outside world; it should fear him, just as it had done in life. Over the next two centuries Transylvania would become rife with stories of horror about the creature that lived in the darkness, the devil himself in the guise of a man who could call forth wolves and bats from the savage woods to do his bidding, a stranger to death.

In time he grew restless and bolder still. The Count started to wander beyond his usual territories, exploring further afield into Greece and following the coast upwards to Croatia. The further from Transylvania he went, the more he learned about survival, about how much sunlight it was possible to endure. And he learned what the common folk across Eastern Europe believed regarding vampires, making note of their attempts to deter evil and keep his kind away with great amusement. There were many ancient legends describing ways to kill or weaken a vampire; only some proved to be true.

Many of these he tested for himself, some he tested on the unfortunate undead that he created- and collected- along the way. But it was still a mystery to him how the ‘curse’ he carried truly worked, with some victims remaining dead and others becoming animated corpses, never truly like him but compelled to drink the life of others. He continued to experiment, hoping to find an appropriate subject in his travels that would keep their spirit. That could even be a companion as the years dragged on.

Dracula had rediscovered the joy of being among people after so long in isolation, enjoying the variety of city life while slipping amongst the crowds unheeded. Ever adaptable he grew comfortable in new hunting grounds, indulging himself for a time by haunting various cities throughout Austria. It was during this tour that he met the composer Mozart, ending his life in 1791.

By 1837 he’d ventured further still into Bavaria, where he was to meet the Grand Duchess Valeria as a young woman. The Industrial Revolution was gathering frantic speed and the Count turned hungry eyes further westward, to the growing hub of London.

Before he could begin drawing plans against England, however, he was driven back to his homeland by a self-proclaimed monster hunter who’d followed his trail of destruction all the way from Vienna. Though the hunter was promptly dealt with, Dracula was severely weakened by the unexpected attack and fled back to the safety of the Carpathians.

It was during his recovery that he started to plot his journey to England, collecting as much information as he possibly could before placing offers on buildings in both London and Whitby. With these secured all he had to do was await the arrival of the unfortunate Jonathan Harker, whose blood replenished him back to full health.

Once a feared and renowned warlord in his native Transylvania, Count Dracula has been living (and hunting) in the shadows for centuries following his death and rebirth as a vampire. He is dark haired, tall and foreboding but with a mischievous air around him. His eyes are also dark, but when he becomes enraged the whites of his eyes flush red.

Dracula is able to draw information from the blood he drinks; he can gain a variety of knowledge about the victim themselves, their memories and feelings, including the languages they speak and certain skills (ie, playing an instrument etc). He is curious in nature, eager to learn new things from those he drains, but also very cruel. Violence is second nature to him and he has no hesitation to use it.

He is charismatic and charming but also very particular about the blood he drinks. Unless the victim has some usefulness or he is desperate for sustenance, Dracula prefers to drink from those of higher learning, treating them like a fine vintage. However, his blood lust is insatiable and he has a very difficult time controlling his urges when blood has been spilled.

VERSES BBC Following the events of the show up to episode 2. After the devastation on the ship Demeter, Dracula does get to England to carry out his plans- after an unexpected 100 year nap.

Classic This verse follows the plot of the classic novel but with a BBC twist. He retains his stolen English accent (assisted by Jonathan Harker’s blood) and cultivates it for himself as he wreaks havoc in Whitby and London.

WW1 AU After defeat at the hands of Van Helsing, Dracula fled to Europe. He didn’t stray far, but when war finally exploded in 1914 he enlisted in the French Army, eager to see battle after so many centuries.

Modern Day (Main) After being trapped underwater in a restorative coma for over a hundred years, Dracula emerges to find the world a very different place to when he left it. Goes up to the middle of Episode 3 and then ditches it entirely.

Harry Potter AU A dark wizard and former teacher at Durmstrang, Dracula became a vampire after an unfortunate attack on his way back to the school. He has lived for centuries, honing his craft and focusing his attentions on the Dark Arts.

It all started a long time ago, during the year 4946 BCE. A great warrior, one of three, returned from battle to find his beloved wife on the floor, dying. He fell to his knees and wept. That is when a dark sorcerer offered a way to save her and give them eternal life. He whipped up a potion with his own cursed blood. As the warrior drank it, he became more and more monstrous, becoming the very first vampire. Once he drank it, he wanted more. He killed the warlock and drank the rest of his blood. The curse was made to last for eternity, and with no one to break the curse, The warrior was cursed to die and then live again. Now, to sustain himself, he must drink the blood of the living, and should anyone taste his blood, they would be cursed as well. This was the start of the vampire. The warrior tried to use his new power to help his wife, but when he offered, she refused, believing him to be nothing more than a monster now, and when he looked into her eyes, he saw nothing but contempt as she died. The warrior, heartbroken and furious, turned his back on her, and several other encounters with similar results caused him to turn his back on humanity. He sought companionship and found it in the shape of the two other warriors, who agreed to share this curse with him. Today, the warrior now has a new family, and his eyes and ears are all over the world. His minions grow in numbers daily. He drinks human blood, but if you asked him, the blood of other monsters, including other vampires, is just as sweet, if not sweeter. When he drinks it, he becomes feral, savage, and beastly until it works its way through his system. He aims to conquer Earth for vampires and other monsters and turn his enemies into livestock. Over the centuries, this warrior, now the King of the Undead, has gone by many names, but the one that has stuck, the one he has chosen, is Dracula There is no monster more powerful or feared.

Side Note: Dracula’s two companions have taken the names Carmilla Karnstein and Thomas Ruthven respectively.
