Short films belong on movie lists just as much as long ones. Moonbird is a 1959 10-minute short created by John Hubley and Faith Hubley after they secretly recorded their sons sharing an imaginary adventure before going to sleep. Their parents took the tapes and created a film (animated by Robert Cannon and Ed Smith) to fit their sons' story. This short film is the cutest thing and I’m not the only one who thought so. It won the 1960 Academy Award for best short subject. You can check out Moonbird on the Tubes... although, fair warning, the quality is not amazing.
