Let’s talk contemporary novels ✨ Do you read contemporary novels? What is your favorite thing about the genre? I really enjoy contemporary novels, I like reading about people in different walks of life and outside of my mostly small town existence. Being as socially awkward as I am I learn a lot and get to experience life through contemporary books that I wouldn’t normally experience. Contemporary fiction has a great capacity to teach empathy through sharing the human experience and reading about cultures and places you aren’t familiar with. Whether you’re reading heavy hitting or light contemporary or anything in between you are guaranteed to learn something new about the human condition. Thank you to @booksparks for sending me this book as part of the #fall2020stacks campaign! . . . . . Book Review - Charming as a Verb ✨ Charming as a Verb by Ben Philippe is witty, fun, and will have you reliving the stress of senior year (or seeing a glimpse of what it will be like). Our main characters Henri and Corinne find themselves relying on each other more than they ever would have thought even if their bonding moment involved a casual remark and a little blackmail. The stress of colleges, working, and trying to figure out what you want/who you are can drive you to do almost anything. This story was just a fun read and I really enjoyed reading/listening to this story. This is definitely one to pick up!
