SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan Mentions ASTRO’s Moonbin In The Group’s Emotional 2023 “MAMA Awards” Speech

The speech was emotional in many ways for the members, idols, and fans.

SEVENTEEN recently gained attention after their emotional speech at the 2023 MAMA Awards following their big win for “Best Album” with FML.

While it was all extremely heartwarming, netizens couldn’t hide their emotions when member Seungkwan mentioned his best friend, ASTRO‘s Moonbin.

Along with fellow 98′ liners VIVIZ‘s SinB and many more, Seungkwan and Moonbin’s friendship has always been loved by fans.

During their speech, netizens noticed that Seungkwan gave a special mention to Moonbin.

The entire speech was extremely emotional, and the members made sure to mention everyone close to their hearts. CARATs couldn’t hide their tears as Wonwoo mentioned that he had another thing to brag about to his mother, who sadly passed away in 2022.

During Seungkwan’s speech, where the idol got very emotional, he made sure to thank all the artists and idols attending, no matter whether they were junior or senior.

Toward the end of the speech, Seungkwan explained, “I don’t know if I can say this but…”

The idol then explained that a lot had happened that year…

Seungkwan then went on to say that Moonbin was someone who supported SEVENTEEN and their music throughout their career, and he thanked him for everything. Unsurprisingly, the members were also very emotional.

While fans got emotional at Seungkwan mentioning Moonbin, it was at this point that LE SSERAFIM‘s Sakuraand Eunchae were also spotted crying.

After the speech, netizens worldwide couldn’t hide their emotions as they heard Seungkwan speak about his best friend. For so many K-Pop fans, Moonbin has always been such an important part of their lives and the past year has been difficult.

I can’t log off I need to vent my frustration .. in a perfect world no member of astro would have renewed and they’d have at least all left together but i don’t blame any of them for staying and I also don’t blame rocky for leaving (even though personally i thought it would be jinjin who would end up leaving). everyone is trying to make it about eunwoo saying they thought he’d be the one to leave but eunwoo is a people-pleaser and more importantly ever since fantagio have realised that they’re the only people in the industry who repeatedly abuse and belittle him, they’ve changed their tune and started doing anything to keep him. he would be an idiot to give up his career but fantagio is pretty much the only company he will be a singer with because everyone else would want to push him to act or model even more than he already does. but fantagio is the absolute worst because they have a whole group of idol actors, two idol groups and many other actors or soloists that nobody has heard from for years. they barely covered it when one of their artists died the other year. they do not care about any of these people, it’s like they just want to keep them in the basement so nobody else can have them because they know that they have some of the most talented entertainers signed to them but are too lazy to do anything with them. they don’t even do any of the work, all they have to do is book things or at the very least answer a call or two. useless, ugly company. spent the entirety of astro’s training period calling eunwoo talentless and saying he will never be on the same level as the others and that he is awful at everything he touches and then the entire debut pandering him to international audiences and overworking him to the point of physical health deterioration and stressed sobbing and venting on variety shows while ignoring every other artist who wants to work and has been begging for work and exposure for years and years and years. they’re awful people to EVERYBODY not just one artist but im still heartbroken and I wish they were all being treated better. I wish they were given an in between where they can work and play in equal measure and not be in a place where they have trained for 14 years and practically pay every staff’s wages personally while all they do is disrespect them

Who’s Cha Eunwoo

Dong Min (이동민; born Mar 30, 1997), better known as Cha Eunwoo (차은우), is a South Korean actor, model, singer, and member of the Kpop group Astro under Fantiago Entertainment. He made his debut as an actor in the movie My Brilliant Life in 2014. He debuted with Astro on Feb 23, 2016.

@whoscjm: Ji Changmin, Main Dancer and Sub Vocalist of the group The Boyz. He’s Yn’s older brother, they have a great and healthy brother-sister relationship. He’s very protective of her and never really introduced her to his members until his group’s 2nd anniversary. When he saw the popularity of his sister he was lowkey jealous but was indeed proud. They bicker a lot but they’d do anything for the other one. He gets along with Yuna and Choi Mona pretty well, even though he’s a bit diffident of Mona for no apparent reason.

An Author Reveals That SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan Had Personally Bought A Book For ASTRO’s Moonbin

It was special to him and Moonbin.

As the world still reels from the tragic news of ASTRO Moonbin‘s passing, a writer by the name of Lee Jung Hyun has delivered a comforting anecdote to fans. Upon Moonbin’s passing, it seems that his best friend, SEVENTEEN‘s Seungkwan, had wanted to belatedly gift him a book by Lee Jung Hyun.

According to the writer, Seungkwan had purchased five books from him, one of which was meant for Moonbin. Although the writer did not realize who it was meant for at first, he put the pieces together after reading about the passing in the news.

It was the first time I received such a request. He said he wanted to give a book of mine to a friend as a gift, but the friend was no longer here. He said his friend enjoyed thinking and writing, so he wanted to read my writings with his friend. It wasn’t odd for me to think of his name at that moment. Because although I’d never met him, at the time that I heard the news, I had already spent a few days touching his name. Because I had spent the very few days prior, thinking of him and writing him a message. Seungkwan had received a recommendation for the book from another customer, and when I heard the name that would go on the first page, I realized that the book was meant for Bin-ssi. That name did not disappear from my mind for a few days. My customer [Seungkwan] bought five books, and I signed four while standing. I held the last book and sat down. As I wrote the name lingering in my mind, my pen could not move, and I stared at the white paper on the first page for a long time. I rewrote the sentences that I had written thinking of him.
