i love everything about being fatter. im so much happier than if i were to try and be more eye appealing. having to have to watch what i eat..not being able to enjoy my foods cuz they’ll be less salty..less flavorful…and more….healthy. no fatty ice creams..i just can’t. i was never meant for that lifestyle. i’ve always wolfed down some ice cream. it’s too good and filling for me to stop. i have a constant craving for sweets right after i have a meal (quix knows better to have a treat for me after a big flavorful meal~). it’s a cycle i can NEVER escape. nor do i WANT to escape. i love being picky and i love my dumb food cycles. this cow knows exactly what NEEDS to be in my body. ofc i’ll be a good cow if quix has any food presented to me~<3

Not a parent but I’m learning a lot about diet culture and fatphobia through Fat Talk by Virginia Sole-Smith. Did you know that the commonly mentioned statistic of 300,000 American deaths a year being attributed to obesity was misreported and not representative of the researchers’ original intentions? Wild. The author also hosts a podcast called Burnt Toast which I haven’t heard but a friend tells me is interesting. (Also shoutout to WTNV I had that queued up and couldn’t get rid of the banner)

Hotel/cruise/whatever other type of vacation resort there is in which all the guests and staff start out thin and by the end of the vacation they’re all super fat.

I'm watching this TV show and I continue to be disgusted with how fat people are shown. Thin people are filmed or viewed with their upper or entire body shown. Fat people are lucky to be in the frame to the neckline.

I don't want to sound the alarms but the way TV frames fat people, in a very literal sense, is extremely dehumanizing. Idc if showing a fat face is "doxxing" that person. Skinny people get their faces shown with no remorse, no questions asked. But a fat person gets on screen in a news report and suddenly it's too shameful or rude to show their faces. Can we please stop cutting the heads off fat people?

Fatness is equated to physical indulgence and both the disgust and the hypersexualization of fat bodies stems from this.

Either a person believes that a fat person is gluttonous and should therefore curtail other physical desires like the one for sex (framed as a deserved/expected punishment for being so untidy in their indulgence of other bodily pleasures)...

...OR they’re voracious and must be naturally sexual (which is obviously also linked to large bust and hip size being attractive and therefore assumed to be cultivated to attract, which I’m sure I could link with my compulsory heterosexuality post as well as musings on the sexualization of the nonwhite body).

But either attitude presupposes that the fat body is fat because of a relationship with our bodies based in a lack of self-control, specifically in regards to food and assumed to extend to other areas of physical pleasure.

The secret Dungeon Meshi sauce that's getting people to eat better is that it's so non-judgmental. Senshi and the rest of the gang never talk about what not to eat besides things that taste bad and literal poison. They don't even talk about "health" that much besides the importance of a balanced diet. It's so much easier to eat well when you think of food simply as something your body needs, and that it's often worth the extra effort to make it taste good, especially when you understand how to connect "things your body needs" with "things that taste good"
