I heard Faye and Fane Savin opened the blight portals as a post-apocalyptic destination setting for their wedding vows renewal ceremony! I got pics, Faye's dress is GORG and also maybe kinda blood-stained...
Wasn’t their wedding a hot minute ago? Is this a quarterly vow renewal, is that the new trend for hot young couples these days? Maybe they did it for the ‘gram (or, as we’re in Soapberry, for the Snaps). In which case, cough up those blood-smeared Vera Wang pics, Anon.

faye-savin:
“No idea,” Faye said, the idea bothering her as well. But as Carrington apparently held sway over whatever was left of this coven, Faye wasn’t going to give the hows and whys any more thought than they warranted. Until she needed to. “All I know is that Cari’s mother was human. Apparently his father fell in love with her when they were just kids. Married her with the arrogant assumption that because Lucien desired daughters, magical daughters, that’s what he would get. Instead, they got Carrington. Corrina - that was Cari’s mother - never had any more children. And Lucien… he started to become obsessed with bloodlines and…” She shook her head, not wanting to recount what Carrington had told her of his family history. It didn’t matter. Not now.
Faye gave a small shrug. “I’m not talking about shipping her off anytime soon. When she’s grown and capable… as long as she’s doing it for the right reasons…” She swallowed, the idea of Eowyn grown and out in the world not an easy one. “If she makes the choice to go stay there with him…” What could Faye do? Lock her away? That just brought them back to O’s prophecy again, didn’t it?
“Yeah. I know,” she agreed as Iann commented on the responsibility of a child. Faye sometimes wondered if her life was one of those lives. Or if it had been at some point.
She could only laugh a bit at Iann’s approximation of both her daughters when it came to Carrington, unable to deny any of it.
“It was plenty of justification for me too,” Faye said, realizing she hadn’t clarified what she’d meant. “I only meant that my coven didn’t think so.” Apparently her sarcasm needed work today. “Don’t know,” Faye said of the church’s leader. “Last time I was back home the building was abandoned. Maybe he’s dead. Or locked in some witch’s basement somewhere. Wouldn’t that be poetic.”
Faye’s look softened a bit. “Our leader was just a kid. Barely out of her teens. She just… she didn’t know the world. She had all this… responsibility. For all these people… all these children…” Faye rubbed a hand over her eyes, feeling the beginnings of a headache that had nothing to do with Iann, and everything to do with the barrage of memories the conversation brought back.
“I know it’s not my fault,” she told him. “But… why does it still feel like it is? Even now?” It wasn’t something that affected her life to the point of losing sleep anymore - usually - but the death of those innocent girls would always weigh on Faye’s conscience.
The refill was appreciated, and Faye thanked Iann before taking a long sip. She pressed the cool glass to the side of her face afterwards, closing her eyes briefly. When she opened them again, she seemed a bit more pensieve.
“Maybe it is. Guess we’ll just have to see, won’t we?” Whether Faye would go ahead with the idea or not - because it was just a fleeting thought at the moment - was yet to be seen. Either way, she was glad for Iann’s opinion, and his insight. “Though if I do… do you think any of the other covens will have a problem with it?” Not that Faye cared what they thought, she simply didn’t want any unrest between anyone.
“Is he the last surviving Bishop?” Iann asked Faye, but then considered. “Unless of course you consider Eowyn a ‘Bishop’. But I mean more ancestrally, or like extended relatives.”
He smiled at Faye’s caveat. ‘The right reasons’. Which of course for a teenager could be completely different from her mother’s. But he knew this was something Faye had already considered. Really, what was so different between Eowyn and most other daughters? Aside from her being an extraordinary, very special, first girl witch with magic that manifested early, and a prophecy to back her and her growing powerful magical powers?
Not much, right?
Iann knew Faye was trying to defend her old coven, while at the same time knowing that she’d been right. That if they’d just listened to her voice of reason and insight, then they wouldn’t all be dead now. Faye’s explanation made them seem like inept, and borderline patriarchal management logic, to Iann. To put a literal child in charge of a New Orleans coven and then get autocratic about their decisions? If Faye was so completely traumatized and beset by guilt over the coven’s willful ignorance, it made sense why she was so averse to covens. Why would she ever engage in teamwork again, when the one she was kicked out of was so insistently incompetent?
“What?” Iann laughed at her question though. “I mean, Faye I love you but you gotta get out of this ‘me against the world’ mentality. No one gives a shit what you do. You’re...not that special.” He grinned, reaching out to grab her hand.
“I mean you’re super-special to me, forever and always. But no one’s out to get you, mama. Soapberry witches aren’t looking for a reason to oppress fellow witches. That coven from New Orleans? It’s really, really not reflective of like...a normal coven. It sounded hella dysfunctional, and that’s why it was doomed. Other covens survive for hundreds of years, with proper management and cooperation with other covens.”

far from the tree | faye & ephram
“Hey,” Ephram said without any preamble at all (not a knock on Faye’s office door, not a text or phone call to let her know he was stopping by), “remember that fuckin’ dope video that Cher made with Beavis and Butthead? And they sang that song? Remember it?”
He plopped down in one of the chairs across from Faye’s desk, setting down a pink apple with golden stars along its skin for her and polishing and crunching into one for himself. “They’s supposed to taste a lil bit like butter and caramel near the core,” Ephram mumbled through a mouthful of fruit, and then apparently had this promise come true as he stopped chewing and made an appreciative rumble in his throat.
“So how things been?” he said after swallowing. It was a more banal question than Ephram was in the habit of asking, not being a huge fan of small talk, but he was scrutinizing Faye carefully as he took another bite of apple.

Describe each individual relationship you have with the people in Soapberry who you love (and/or really like).
OOC: I’m gonna copy @rydenbolt and do this OOC because Ephram’s not very articulate about emotional stuff XD
Bellamy: They’re not as close as they used to be – it would be impossible, at this point, after what they’ve both been through with Anaxis. But Ephram still adores Bellamy dearly, and even though they’re not on the same mental wavelength as much, he treasures her friendship as much as he ever has. Bellamy’s always been, for him, a gateway to a world that’s entirely unlike anything he’s known (which has its good and its bad points)
Cassie: Again, they’ve grown apart as each of them started families, but Ephram will never lose his affection for Cassie. He actually considered trying to ask her to date him when they lived together, but was too unsure of himself back then and talked himself out of it by thinking he was way beneath her. Cassie’s a strange mix of comforting and distant, which is like catnip for Ephram.
Dani: He puts a considerable amount of stock in Dani’s forensic abilities and enjoys watching them work. Good work relationships mean a lot to Ephram, so even though they’re not drinking buddies or anything, Ephram really likes Dani on their work merits.
Danny: Another work compatriot. Plus, Danny is a fairy friend for Freddie – which Ephram is pleased about – and he has Steve, who’s incredible, and he’s just a nice bloke on his own merits.
Elena: How could he not like Elena? Even if they hadn’t slept together and immensely enjoyed it, Ephram is charmed by her free-and-easy nature and the fact that it’s not a one-note thing – she’s got plenty of character under there.
Faye: Despite everything, Ephram will always always love Faye. He’s unflaggingly loyal to family like that, where even when you’re not getting along you still love each other. He worries that Faye doesn’t feel the same, though, and she’ll one day get sick of his emotional neediness when it comes to her providing him comfort and approval. He tends to get somewhat jealous of anybody who gets the lion’s share of her attention.
Freddie: The light of his life, the miracle. It’s not even exaggeration because it was Freddie’s fairy dust that kept him alive, and the closeness and support they give each other is like nothing either of them has had before. For two individuals with such disparate backgrounds to find themselves as emotionally enmeshed as Freddie and Ephram are, it’s always a wondrous thing, and Ephram feels that way all the time. And doesn’t hesitate to let Freddie know, verbally or physically. Freddie, more than anybody, has helped Ephram to come to grips with (some of) his past and understand that he’s a worthwhile human being.
Maya: This is still a little tenuous, because while Ephram likes Maya and wouldn’t mind having her as a pseudo-niece, he’s not sure that Maya likes him at all.
Ollie: Won’t spend too much time on this one, but suffice it to say that Ephram loves Ollie. There’s really no other option.
Ruby: Ephram so so so loves Ruby. He’ll never stop loving her; the time they spent together was some of the happiest memories he has, when it was good. He genuinely enjoys her as a person, listening to her talk and tell stories; he likes how she walks in her summer dresses, how she cooks, how she sings. If Ruby weren’t still in his life, Ephram would be much the sadder for it.Honourable mention: Perl. He misses her SO MUCH around the station, my god.

a higher law | faye & ephram
The university was possibly the one place in Soapberry that was still something of a mystery to Ephram. SBSU seemed to deal with issues in-house unless it absolutely couldn’t be helped, at which point the Sheriff Department would be called in and monitored every step of the way.
So he painstakingly looked up Faye’s office hours and where her office was located in the enormous building before he made his way there. In plain clothes; he very much did not want to call attention to himself.
Hoping there wasn’t a student in with Faye talking about important things, Ephram knocked on the door, his stomach in knots. “It’s me,” he said, and then just in case it was necessary, “It’s Ephram.”

see-saw | faye & ephram
@faye-andrews
VM: Hey. It's me. I um... I got your letter. I uh... I wasn't sure what to make of it, and honestly I was... confused? I wondered if... everything was ok? With you? Because you don't owe me an apology. But anyway, I... I was glad to hear from you. For what it's worth. And... I think I owe you an explanation. About what happened with the Fae. With Wyn. I think she'd like to see you. If you like. I'm taking her to the park tomorrow after school. Around 3. Take care, okay? - Faye
He’d been sitting at the park since half-past two, trying to seem calm and casual as he watched the tadpoles playing. It was a good thing everybody in town knew Ephram was the sheriff, otherwise it would look plenty creepy for him to be sitting there.
He hadn’t responded to Faye’s voicemail, figuring that his sister’s referring to the park and time was a gentle invitation. And Eowyn’s presence would serve as a buffer; Ephram was glad for that, and eager to see his niece again. It wasn’t that he’d stopped seeing her for this period of separation, but he ... didn’t see her anywhere near as often.
And, if he was being honest with himself, he missed his big sister. It was like a stone in his belly whenever he thought about it.

My advice is to stay away from Bella. Faye did what she did to protect her daughter. That demon whore never really loved you and doesn't love you enough now.
“Look, people who love you are gonna hurt you. That’s just life, that’s the way it is, don’t nobody come into this world owed nothin’. If I’m blessed enough to have people in my life who care for me despite everythin’ that’s wrong with me and the hurt that I caused, then I got nothin’ to complain about. You make sacrifices for love.”

Slurred words Faye
“Sister woman, well … we had our rough patches. But I ain’t no stranger to rough road when it comes to family and I mean, well I mean – what’s a few stretches of gravel? In the bigger picture of it? Ain’t nobody perfect in this world and Faye, I been holdin’ her to an impossible level, right? I got no leg to stand on my own damn self. I know she loves me, she said so, and it’s … well I mean, she made me family when I din’t have nobody. So that’s somethin’, not a whole lot of folks would do that all things considered. No matter what else has happened, that’s somethin’. Especially for what I am. It’s somethin’.”

ephrampettaline:

chatzy log for Soapberry Pride 2019 with:
@thisdaringdanny, @cassiegermaine, @ianncardero, @mayaparker, @bumblingbrujo, @alessafalling, @faye-andrews
Ephram knew there was a wide range of Pride events going on in town, but he’d made a conscious decision to not attend the more solemn things, vigils and memorials. What with recent events coming to terms with Anaxis, getting rid of the threat of Martin Adjaye, he wanted to glut himself in joy and celebration. So it was an atronach block party he decided to attend, the area divided into seven colours of the rainbow each run by atronachs whose glyphs were of the corresponding shade. So far he’d meandered through the Red Zone, getting a crimson arrow drawn in a thick stripe down his face from above his eyebrow to his jawline, and eating a handful of sour cherry candies.
Danny was soaking up as much of Pride as he could, all while trying to fall to the back of the crowd, this event wasn’t for him after all but Danny was a intent on being supportive, and getting the fun out of it. Currently that meant pouring drinks for people. He’d made one for himself and when people had seen him making ombre cocktails he’d incidentally become a bartender. “Let’s see your wrist band,” he asked a couple who had come up to him. He wasn’t on the clock but he wasn’t accidentally serving teens. “Nice,” he grinned, pouring liquid out into a plastic martini glass and handing it over. Spotting Ephram and giving him a wave before pointing to his feathered accent.

triptych | faye & ephram
(FAYE) Tonight. We have three days.
Ephram ran his thumb compulsively up and down the side of his phone, staring at Faye’s terse, direct message. She must have given Chris the Dreamless Sleep again, made sure that he wouldn’t be either endangered or involved while the two of them went hunting for June Harth. Was she still Harth? Had she stripped herself of the surname of the man she’d tried to kill, or was that, too, sinful in the eyes of her unforgiving Lord?
Shaking himself out of it, he texted back, with that same sense of urgency:
[EPHRAM] On my way. Coming armed.
Taking his Damascus double barrel off the wall, Ephram headed out.
