No goddamn idea how it took me 29 years to see this musical

Also didn’t realize that Glee covered a lot of this music at the time it was airing and I gotta say it did NOT do a good job (went back and watched the episode)

Omg the music. The melodies. The soaring strings. The voices. The plot was okay, the music was fabulous and Sondheim (RIP) was a musical genius.

Mike Faist and Ariana DeBose stole the whole goddamn show. This is where my Mike Faist obsession began in full earnest (I kinda recognized him from Panic, which I hadn’t finished watching at the time)

Took until about mid/end of March to fully shake this obsession

Tonight (Quintet) is criminally underrated once you split all the parts in your head and then put them back together

Why of course I watched the original to continue my obsession. OG Tony was better. i loved OG Bernardo and 2021 Bernardo equally but obv hated OG Bernardo’s (and the rest of the sharks’) face paint.

I binged this in a day

Something about the enemies to lovers thing made this season a bit * s p i c i e r * than s1, despite the fact that s1 had a fuckton (pardon the pun) of sex scenes.

I like being teased but holy hell that was difficult LOL (buildup was worth)

trying to convince my boyfriend to watch this with me. So far, he has refused.

I bought the first two books in the series, been too busy to read :(

Okay but this show was really well done. Strong female main character who was flawed but worth rooting for, complex mystery, lots of twists, interesting dynamics and parallels, therapy!! Character working on bettering themselves!! We love to see it.

15. What's your favourite plotless fic you have written?

I think all of my fics usually have some type of plot so this is kind of hard but the Baked Bakers chapter of tpd was literally just fexi getting high in her backyard and then making cookies (and then them laughing and making out). Plotless af and I was sleep deprived prolly writing at 3am with 2 hours of sleep and school in the morning and in the deepest stage of fexi lore so it reads insane.

Depends on the fic tbh. YVOR is very planned out as far as knowing what needs to go in each chapter goes. other fics have been less planned. more like i know vaguely the vibes and go to work from there.

3) describe the creative process of writing a chapter/fic?

tears. diet coke. panic. stress pacing. info dumping in the text thread to sarah. a lot of water. panic some more. light a candle. find the right music. open the doc. panic one last time. write.

4) where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

this question is hard. dude. fexi has such an interesting dynamic and it's just fun to explore multiple variations of that. i guess my biggest source of inspiration is just the characters themselves.

21) would you ever collaborate with another writer for story?

lmao so time for some bex lore. once upon a time, way back in the GoT heyday, i was part of a group of authors who planned out collaborative fic works. we had a great run, throwing the asoiaf/got characters into things like a three ring circus, a cruise ship, the set of a soap opera, a working hospital. like some of the funniest shit i've ever read came from those fics. long live the baratheon brother's present!

as for collaborating in my current pairing of choice? idk man. my process is already really collaborative with @weddersins, there's not a single narrative decision in YVOR that we haven't talked to death in our text thread. but at this point we've been editing each others work for such a long time our styles are very similar so i think we could fully write a fic together and it would flow seamlessly!

i want to know how "something was born on the fourth of july" came about!

Oooooooo Carla this is a great question I literally squealed when I saw it lmao

More than one answer applies here. After I finished writing the first act of YVOR, I knew where things in that fic were headed and to save myself from what I like to call "New Ship Smut Anxiety" I figured writing something smutty for Fexi and posting it before I got to it in a 42 chapter long fic made sense. Like, a trial run I guess? So I could figure out how these two work for me writing a sex scene, and play around with their dynamic. I was doing it for SCIENCE.

But then a little lightbulb dinged over my head. What if I was able to play around with this specific version of Fez and Lexi in an alternate timeline to this universe I've created? But this specific bit in fezco II kinda sealed the deal for me -

The blue bubble next to her name is a perfect 200, but the last message was sent around the 4th of July, a month ago.

lexi: It’s crazy at home and I just wish I had you to talk to about it Fezco. You made everything feel better when it got out of hand here. - and I was off to the races with the idea. Fez mentions in his first chunk of POV in fourth of july that he's less worried about how high the number gets, but he's more concerned about the day the number stays the same. So it felt absolutely PERFECT to jump off from a point in YVOR, the 4th of July about a month prior to Lexi I, where Lexi stops trying to communicate with him and play a what if scenario here. I'm dropping the rest of the answer below a read more because it's admittedly spoilery to future YVOR chapters but not in a ruining my story way, just like, in a general information way that people might not want to see?

You know from lexi I that Cassie came home in July - and I've eluded to whatever broke her and Nate up for good being really bad. The thing is I know EXACTLY what caused their breakup, even though Lexi doesn't yet because it becomes relevant in ACT 2. So here's what I know that y'all dont know: The 4th of July party that Maddy drags Lexi to in SWBOTFOJ is the same party where Cassie and Nate break up at in YVOR. In the main timeline, Nate sends Cassie into the kitchen to get them drinks when he sees Maddy, but Lexi's not there to become the focus of Cassie's ire - Maddy is and it gets ugly quick in an entirely different way. I'll keep the specifics to myself for now, but something is said that causes Nate and Cassie to go at it, causing a big scene. This 4th of July party is going to be referenced in the next YVOR update as well, because in any universe it was a complete shit show.

I do realize I'm insane for putting this much detail into fanfic. I feel like I'm thinking way too much about all of this, but it is really fun for me, I swear. I love getting to world build, and that's what all these details really are, just me adding to my own lore.
