I used to joke about this and then they actually put Gaius in this idle pose in 6.4
Art without the text because it's the stupidest shit that comes out looking the nicest:

FFXIV JOB GLAM CHALLENGE - 15 OF 21: SAMURAI
Tumblr media
THIS ^ is probably one of the coolest shots i've ever gotten w/ gpose! i'm really proud of how it turned out. reminds me that i've come a long way with the tool-- i could barely take a static idle pose screenshot 6 months ago...
anyway, is anyone actually surprised i used the Yakaku Dogi top for this? it's practically made for SAM, but still not artifact armor, so it's free game. i love the cherry blossom body art/tattoo. i just wish the second dye channel interacted with it at all... but the red-orange color scheme of the blossoms really works for the full outfit.
as cool as the main shot is, you can't see the whole glam, so here's a pic that shows it off more:

FFXIV October - Day 1 Wind-up / WoL Doll
Late to the party on this one, so I'll be doing a little bit of catch up, but we'll get there.
I just think it would be nice if Cessalie was even more pocket sized :3 (On her little idle pose, Miette pops out of hiding for a moment 😺 and her hat tip bounces a lil as she runs)

from a primarily gw2 person, here's ffxiv features i want in gw2:
gatherer and crafter professions. they're so fun in ffxiv. crafting is barely fun in gw2. except for chef, maybe.
ironically, fishing. even though fishing itself feels less interactive than in gw2 i still kinda like it better in ffxiv. it's more chill. you sit on your little stool and catch the fishies.
the sheer amount of emotes. while sitting. on a mount. etc. includes the option for different idle poses while standing and sitting. (i want that swaying sitting idle for lalafell)
housing, i guess. idk if it's the ffxiv system specifically that i want. i haven't played any other rpgs with housing features
gpose, but not necessarily. it's fun to tinker with but i also like the challenge of not having it in gw2 lol. which in turn creates its own kinda fun adventure of taking screens.

i think its so cool how every player's ffxiv characters i've come across feel unique. even with a limited amount of character creator options, from the way they choose to dress, the mounts and minions they equip, color choices, even down to the idle poses they choose, you can see an individual personality peak through, and it just feels so special.

I highly recommend using Penumbra over Textools for mod installation. Mainly due to it letting you control who the mod works on on your side, and the ability to use Glamourer. Penumbra lets you set mods to affect yourself only, all player characters, all npcs, ect. This way everyone with hair type X won't have Dante's hair. Only you will. It'll also let you set priorities and disable mods when needed, which is especially helpful if you have mods that interact with one another.
Best part is you do not need to exit the game to install/modify mods. It's all done in game and no restarting is needed.
More under cut
Glamourer comes and works with Penumbra. It lets you set a sort of client side glamour plate for yourself. That way what you wear in game for others to see is totally separate to what you use in Glamourer. Say the top used for Dante's coat mod is an ugly thing vanilla wise, but you have to wear it to have Dante's coat. With Glamourer you can set your ingame looks to whatever you want, then on your side use Glamourer to set the ugly coat on yourself. Everyone else will see the gear you set up in game, not the ugly coat, but you'll see Dante's coat on your end. Glamourer can also modify dyes, weapons, remove gear restrictions, and change your race, gender, and any character customizations at will.
If you play with friends that also mod, there's something called Mare Syncronus that works through Penumbra too. It's a player made server by the Penumbra creator that reads what mods you currently are using on your character, sends it to their server, and shares it with friends you have added on your Mare friends list. This way you and your friends can actually see each others mods. This extends to your modified minions, mounts, battle actions, and emotes too. Only people you add in your friends list or share a sync shell with can see your mods, and only mods installed into Penumbra are able to be picked up. Textool installed mods will not be visible to others. You do have the option to pause yourself and/or other individuals/groups when you don't want your mods to be visible, or if you don't want to see their's either.

watching a mid game ff16 realtime cutscene (not in Special High Effort mode) and no exaggeration every single animation, right down to how they look at each other and how their lips flap, is directly from ffxiv. i don't mean inspired by or similar to. i mean the angle of the arms the exact timing of the head snaps the poses the big guy idles in vs the notcat-girl's single hand on hip as she speaks the fucking "reaching towards pocket gesturing forward" item give animation. all of this stuff taken Directly from ffxiv, wholesale imported and reused. this is stuff present in base ARR too, so it's using like 10 year old animations for a vast chunk of content. on every single level, explicitly to (not very) sneakily, this fucking game is just a long fucking ffxiv clone made by the same company and somehow with even less swag, a feat i thought impossible. fuckshit game
