Fiat 127, 1971. The 127 replaced the rear-engined 850 in Fiat's range and was the first "supermini" establishing the B-segment template that has been used ever since, front transverse engine with an end-on gearbox driving the front wheels. It was initially only offered as a 2-door saloon but the hatchback followed in March 1972 and quickly became the biggest selling variant. The tragic twist in the 127 story is that it designed by Pio Manzù, son Italian sculptor Giacomo Manzù. Pio was killed, aged 30, in a car accident on the Turin-Milan autoroute on his way to present the maquette for the 127 to Fiat’s management. The 127 was the only car he designed to make it into production but he died before it did so.

Fiat 127 Fiorino, 1977. The first generation of Fiat's small van was based on the second and third generation 127 whose bodywork it used up to the B-pillar (neatly demonstrated by the dashed rule in the ad). The 127 part of the name was dropped in the mid 80s when it became simply the Fiorino. Fun fact, the "Hi-Top" roof was fabricated for Fiat by Bertone

Crossover ibride, elettriche. Tutta la tecnologia di cui le case automobilistiche sono capaci nulla potrebbero contro una vera “corazzata” delle auto, della Fiat per dirla tutta. Roba da fare impallidire saloni dell’auto ed esperti del settore. Noi, invece, l’abbiamo vista sfrecciare… Il parlamento europeo ha dato l’ok. Dal 2035 saranno bandite le auto diesel e benzina. Non se ne fanno più…
