smoke surrounding him, an unbearable heat crawling along his skin, as he desperately tried to get away from it. suffocating, kang joon looked around, anxiously, as he could make out the silhouette of a burning car in between the thick smoke. the sight of it made him freeze up, and even the flames that were already reaching out to him couldn’t make him move.

bathed in sweat he woke up, eyes wide open, gasping, as he asked himself where he was. when noticing the ceiling that he had grown used to over the past months, he sat up, wiping off the sweat of his forehead. his breathing was heavy and irregular, he could still feel his heart pumping fast in his chest. it’s been a while since kang joon had that kind of dream, that kind of nightmare. rubbing his face, he noticed the tears dripping from his shaking eyes. the male quickly dried his face in the crook of his arm, fighting to calm himself down. 

his body was still trembling from the dream that felt too real to be just a dream. was this the heaven’s reminder to not forget about the struggle his life had always been? when his breathing returned to the normal rhythm, he blinked into the darkness, realizing how hongjoong was looking at him. “oh, sorry, joong... did i wake you up?”

Hi, this is Head Mod Bianca! Here I’ll link most of my documents (if not all) regarding debuts/comebacks that I had planned for Rookies. Debuts set to happen too long into the future weren’t set in stone, but might be fun to think about!

RKDEBUT CONCEPT IDEAS

This here is an old document I used to try and gather everything in one big thing, but ended up never keeping it updated and each group has its own thing now. You can see some things were changed from back then again, such as HEARTZ previously being named MOONDAY. Still shows a lot and I thought it’s be cool to share!

The DAY6-inspired Sphere group was supposed to mix CONVEX and male trainees in a special group/unit. The trainees would then join other trainees to form their own group after.

TRC boys took a lot of time to take off due to a lot of male trainees dropping and others not having enough debut points. They were supposed to start a training group in November to eventually debut with a Monsta X concept in early 2021 with 6 members (Chanyeol, Jongsuk, Seungjoon, Minho, Seunghun, and Jinyoung).

TRC’s 2nd gen would be one of the one to break boy/girl order and debut a boy group after based on Stray Kids, and only later a girl group as ITZY/EVERGLOW. The other company who’d do the same was NOVA, debuting a girl group as WJSN/OH MY GIRL. Would probably involve lying about birthdays like WJSN does irl. To avoid conflict with public trainees, the concept would maybe be changed to the elements of the zodiacs (3 of each) instead of the exact signs themselves.

Super Timeline

These are files where I tried planning the order of releases for each group. As can be seen, some dates ended up being changed, but the order kept itself. It depended if I felt there were too many empty spots in months in certain groups or if it just felt like releases were coming too far away from each other. NSG sadly has no file. I had planned the first debut/comeback orders simply but after what happened I had to scrap everything and didn’t have the time to replan it. HEARTZ monthly project songs were also able to change, as can be seen by September’s song.

The Super Timeline served to check when activities were overlap which could do for good interaction opportunities, but also had to make sure people wouldn’t lose on every comeback due to conflicts that could be avoided. You can also see there are ‘Samsung’ groups listed which was an idea to have Produce 101-style competitions using both trainees and rookies. After the backlash of MGAS5 I didn’t feel confident enough to do anything, though, so the idea ended up being left to the side. There would only be two seasons of the competition with a group based on Wanna One and the other on IZ*ONE.

NSG was going to have their next unit announcement today. I even DM’ed some people on twitter about it. Instead of a rotation unit based on NCT Dream, there’d be a fixed unit based on TXT. NCT Dream songs would be used as U songs.

MGA S5 POINTS

I started working on MGA S5 as soon as MGA4 ended because it had went so well and I was very excited for next season. Sadly, a lot of people complained about MGAS5 and said it wasn’t well planned and that the results were rigged. I just wanted to share two of the files I used to show results weren’t chosen randomly. MGA took into accoun various categories of both points and % and chaged what it used based on the episode and also if the muse decided to showcase a different skill.

Thank you for checking everything if you did, or just looked around one or two! I’ve put a lot of effort into Rookies even before I was announced as a mod. I wrote my first event the day before the official announcement (if anyone remembers, it was rkspring) and have since taken care of every event until Gab joined us and gave me such a great helping hand. I hope you got to enjoy at least a few of the events I managed to come up with! It was fun while it lasted!

With their lines supposedly mastered, came the time to show what they managed to learn last month. After going through the choreography of both of their songs, the boys continue with their practice until the following day.

With them in the room are both Jo Soonyang, their vocal coach, and Yoo Jaekyung, their dance coach. They exchange a few words with each other before turning their attention to the nine idols-to-be in front of them. “Well, good morning,” Jaekyung is the one to start. “You had to learn two choreographies last month, which you showed to me yesterday. I think it’s easy to say that it’s expected of Royal to have a better grasp on their vocals, but that’s no excuse to let your dance abilities fall short. You’re standing here to become idols—dancing idols.”

The woman stops talking for a moment to shake her head. “For how long have you been training here? Kangjoon?” She looks down at the sheets of paper she’s holding. “It’s been three years now? And that’s what you had to show me? What did you do during your dance lessons as a trainee? You’re a charming guy, so we tried giving you some center spots, but if you don’t get your act together it wouldn’t be the first time I had to rearrange a choreography before its release. And what’s worse is you’re not the only one I need to talk about.”

Jaekyung points at a name on the paper before reading it out. “Yoo Seonho. It’s been two years and a half, right? And you’re only better than Kangjoon. As a main vocalist, you’ll get a lot of lines, and if you can’t keep up with the dance how do you think that’ll turn out? During practice this month I’ll keep pushing you two, and if any of you complain you’ll be staying late. And Jung Jaehyun…” She looks at the last person she’s going to comment on. “If you’d like to join them it wouldn’t hurt you.”

The woman looks away and takes a step back. This is taken as code for Soonyang to speak. “Since you learned your pre-debut songs these last few months, we’ll move on to the next step of our preparation stage. You can come now.” She motions to one of the men standing by the wall and he starts moving forward. He’s very tall and chubby with a friendly expression. “This here is Kim Sohoon. From today on, he’ll be working as your manager. You’ll start having a bit more activities this month so he’ll have to keep an eye on all of you. Please, don’t abuse his patience.” Even with her request, the smile on the man’s face tells you he has a lot of patience to spare, unlike the coaches.

“Why don’t you hand them the lyrics?” With an excited “Yes!” Sohoon hands the file he had been holding to Baekhyun, who then needs to distribute them to the rest of the boys. “While you’re getting ready and set, we’ll also start work on the ‘go’ code. The thing you have in your hands is the lyrics of your debut song. It’ll work the same way as it did last time. If you learned anything from your time with us,” Soonyang takes a look at Park Jihoon, “then you should achieve a good result.”

This month, the boys of DE:CODE will have more than one mission to worry about. The first thing in line are the lines they received for their debut song, which is titled ‘Gorilla’. It’s rather different from their two other songs, especially ‘I’m Fine’, but the coaches tell they should leave a big impact from their debut, and this is the song to do it.

During this month, the members will be assigned multiple lines to learn and practice. None of these will officially be theirs and, by next month, the coaches will officially assign them. Their temporary lines for ‘Gorilla’ can be seen below:

On the morning of December 30th (because everyone has better plans on the 31st), the members will sing all their assigned lines in front of their coach and her results will be shared on the following month.

As promised, however, the nine boys will have more schedules added to that. On December 9th, they will be split into two groups of five and four by age to go to a hair salon (the same some of them went to for Dream Knight) and get their hairstyles ready for their pre-debut releases. They’ll be split by age, and the five youngest will go first early in the morning, and then the oldest later on.

The day after, December 19th, their music video recordings will start with ‘I’m Fine’ going first. They’ll record the video for ‘What Time is It Now?’ on December 20th.

how exciting. getting to attend a baseball match for their promotions. of course, kang joon was aware that they were there for work, but he couldn’t help but being excited about being a part of a sports game. at least entertainment wise. activity wise would have been a different story, though who knows if they might have a chance to be players in the future sometime. for the public eye they were to perform their new song “can you feel it?” as well as their debut song “gorilla” and while he was glad to finally be on stage again, his mind was drifting away.

squinting at hongjoong, he mustered the younger male for a moment, as they were preparing for the upcoming stage. the match didn’t start yet, but after hearing how nox would have the honor to throw the first pitch, he felt slightly envious. that was really cool and it somehow fit the other.

with a grin, he came up to his fellow group member and nudged his side slightly. “hey, here we are again, waiting for our stage, huh?” he came closer to whisper into the other man’s ear. “how about it? shall we make the thing a tradition before going onstage? does our lovely pitcher want a little smooch, before he throws the first ball?”

while searching for the key to the dorm, he yawned. it was rather late, but his schedule for today was finally over. his stomache was growling, he was hungry. what he was craving for, wasn’t food though, but a night of good sleep. so he headed right to his shared room, after taking off his shoes and putting them to the side. eyes half closed as he shuffled inside, before bumping his knee against the bed frame. cursing under his breath, he held his leg and made a few steps aside, just to let himself fall straight forward on the bed he believed to be his.

it wasn’t though, aside from already being occupied by baekhyun whom he hadn’t noticed until he was flopping on top of him. “oh, baekhyunnie- didn’t see you there. sorry, let me-” with a groan, he rolled off the other and remained laying on the side instead. to distract the other from the fact that he was too lazy to get up and move over to his own bed instead, he lifted his head a litle and looked at the younger male, asking: “how was the idol radio? was it fun?”

kang joon was always the random kind of guy. he would often sit in the living room doing nothing and suddenly jumping up because of an idea he had. this time around he was just vibing on the couch, taking a break from going through his script, when minho entered the living room. with a smile, he waved at the other and handed him the control without a world. spacing out, he felt his bones aching from both training and recording, but he guessed it was the good kind of ache, considering that there was stuff for him to do. for a moment he just hung there still, long legs stretched out in front of him.

amber eyes glanced over to the younger male, immediately pulling a mischievous expression onto his facial features. the other was kinda shy, even though he was warm and comfortable to be with. it was fun to hang around with him and teasing him a tiny bit. he was the bubble butt after all.

since this was the first time he actually got to take home products he was advertising in a photoshoot, kang joon had been really excited to share with his group members. being in a great mood, he had returned from the shoot rather late, a box of trevi bottles in his arms. he had been encouraged to share with the other de:code members, and was also told to promote the beverage. so he guessed from now on he would carry around a bottle of trevi water, in order to do so. kang joon picked up one of the green bottles and opened it without hesitation, just to be greeted with the typical hissing sound of a bottle containing a carbonated drink.

he blinked at the bubbles ascending for a moment, before letting out a small sigh. this would be much harder than he thought it might be. looking around, he stepped out of the kitchen and walked over to the living room, in hope to find one of his members. seonho, their beloved maknae was sitting on the couch and with a pout he walked over. time for more oldest and youngest brother interaction. of course he knew that the puppy look worked much better coming from the maknae line, but he had to try at least.

"seonho-ah~ would you mind helping hyung?" kang joon asked and planted his butt next to the younger male, while pressing the cooled bottle of water against seonho's cheek. "could you drink this? i don't like carbonated water. it tastes sour to me."

every stage to perform on, was a special stage. even now, that they have been able to collect some experience on different stages, kang joon still liked the rush of adrenaline in his body, shortly before entering the stage. he liked how his whole body and his mind was only focused on what was bound to happen next and even the hard pumping of the heart in his chest wouldn't take him off it. it was an exhilarating feeling, nothing else felt the same, felt more right, made him conscious about how alive he was right now. despite all the hardships they went through every day, the busy schedule or the hard training and practices, everything vanished within seconds, as soon as he was up there.

maybe kang joon was still blinded by the fact that he indeed reached his dream, when for the longest part of his life, he was wondering what he was actually good for. maybe his feelings would change over the time, when they stopped being rookies, when they started to adapt well into the business and became big names after all. but for now, all the blood, sweat and tears they have put into their dreams had been absolutely worth, as soon as he heard the cheers, the glittering eyes at their sight and the big smiles on everyone's lips, wherever he looked.

he wasn't too sure how long this phase, this part of his life would last, as he was still prone to think how he was fated to live in struggles. he wasn't too sure how long until he would return to that miserable state, he still found himself in from time to time, how long until the loneliness would take him back into it's life-sucking embrace. but until then, he decided to enjoy it all. enjoy looking into their fans and supporters eyes, do his best to offer a enjoyable performance and live up to everything he had ever dreamt of. things could be rough at times, but that wouldn't stop himself from being vici and be victorious over the struggles.

contrary to the set of a drama, kang joon was too familiar with the set-up for photoshoots. it's been a little while, since he had been to one without his members but just by himself and even, when it was nothing big, just a simple advertisement shoot for trevi's sparkling water, he was kinda excited. compared to what he had experienced before, this felt different than back then, since now he was a idol and he had to get used to the moments, when seeing his own visage in public more often from now on. the product to be advertised was just "water", but he was still happy to be allowed to do something he was confident in. of course he was striving for bigger modeling jobs sometime, as he was sure to be able to make use of his charisma to the fullest, but for now, he just wanted to help his group to gain more popularity, by appearing in popular magazines in july.

with a big smile on his lips, he entered the set on july 15th, bowing at the director who approached him as soon as he was notified of vici's arrival. kang joon needed to make a good first impression, both for his own and his group's sake, so he politely greeted the older man and shoke the offered hand enthusiastically. he was aware that his charm drew attention, but without the right attitude everything was in vain. so he tried his best to show his best behaviour, listening closely to the director's short explanation, before smiling and excusing himself to be lead to the dressing room. as he was prepared, kang joon held some small talk with the staff members who were buzzing around him, reminded him of past days, where he had often acquaintanced and befriended all kinds of people.

in this industry networking was important, and as he was given the chance to meet people outside of royal and de:code, kang joon wanted to make the best out of it. when the preparations were done, he was brought back to the set. it was summer, and trevi's was the perfect drink for sunny days.

he was hyped. after hearing about the concept of the show, kang joon felt the greed rise in him. in the white recording side, there would be nothing distracting for the audience, no fancy studio set up nor a popular mc. it was just them, the full line up of de:code and questions they had to answer correctly in order to gain time to perform their title song. they were in full preperation of a comeback, so being able to reveal their performance on a tv show that could lure in potential fans, would be a huge chance. the more time they would win, the better and kang joon wanted them to at least be able to perform up to the first hook and refrain to get listeners interested.

every member would be assigned one question or task, and in case the members would be able to get the right answer, they would receive 20 seconds more to perform their song at the end. in case of a wrong answer though, 10 seconds would be deducted and kang joon felt already distressed about that little fact, in clear intention to make his group bigger and more popular.

so far it had been either an imitation task or the task to guess how many members would do a specific thing or expression behind one's back, but when it was his turn, he was told to explain a keyword with his facial expression only. kang joon was confident in that task, as he was the type of guy who had a full palette of expressions to show. jumping on the spot, kang joon yelled out silently, clutching his own face with his hands, deliberately exaggerating the fear as he widened his eyes. when one of the other boys guessed a haunting house, he clapped in glee, happy to hear the correct answer and see the amount of time for them to perform to go up by a bit.

they were 9 boys, so if they were to get all 9 questions right, they should be good, right?

it was just a simple photoshoot, but kang joon was still excited for every opportunity he received. de:code had debuted just a few months ago, but here he was, using the powerful charm his ceo had talked about, when offering him the idol contract. of course this was just the beginning, as kang joon wanted to do even more, make his name and de:code’s name greater. for now they were just freshmeat, just rookies and their path to the top was still long ahead. but as long as things kept rolling, he would try and do his best.

summer time meant summer themed photoshoots with refreshing products like the one he was supposed to promote. it wasn’t his first time to have a solo photoshoot, but it was his first time to actually receive the advertised product to take home and promote them. for now he decided to share a few bottles with his members, before he musing how exactly he should go about promoting trevi sparkling water. so kang joon looked for another member to ask for some help. luckily he found their leader in their room.

“hey, baekhyun. could you help me take some photos for my instagram? i need to drink some trevi’s.”

while washing the rice, he hummed a song he couldn’t get out of his head these days. it was perfect for the summer season and boosted his good mood. swaying a little to the rhythm, he imitated the dance moves, while carrying the tray of rice over to the rice cooker. as soon as he had put everything down safely, he jumped and turned on his own axis, stretching his hand away from him to point at jaehyun who had unexpectantly come into the kitchen. maybe to get himself something to drink. 

smirking at the younger male, he picked up a bottle of cooking oil and used it as substitute microphone to serenade his member with an over the top pitched high note. with a snort, he put the bottle back down and looked over to jaehyun. “hey, too bad they didn’t performed during the summer festival, hm? i really love the retro style. would be awesome if we could go with such an concept some day. what do you think?”

kang joon proceeded to prepare the food for his members, knowing that they were probably waiting hungrily, while he was fooling around, singing.

he was hyped about the debut, about the very first music show promotion two weeks into the month, about all exciting things that would await them in the near future and he didn't quite know where to put all of his energy. it was still early in the morning, around 6, and they had just finished their first rehearsal on stage. kang joon could have been sleepy considering the time they had to get up, but he was wide awake. when they were on the way to the salon, he grinned at his members, not able to contain his excitement. one after another was prepared for the showcase, hair and make-up set. kang joon mustered himself in the mirror, he was looking damn fine, and a smirk appeared on his lips, when he saw hongjoong behind him in the reflection. the other just got out of the salon, so he decided to sweep him up and share some of his energy with him.

with grabby hands he moved over to the other man, and dragged him along with him. "hey joong, i got to give you something~" he hummed, as they walked towards the bathroom. "but we need to get out of the sight of the others, or they will get envious. this is just exclusively for you, so pssh, you gotta keep it a secret, alright?"

closing the door behind him, he turned back to the shorter male, devious grin on his lips. on days like this, when he was feeling especially energetic, kang joon tended to do impulsive stuff like this without a second thought. it was just his thing, he was into skinship after all. "here you go. congrats to the debut, nox." the oldest de:code member purred, before leaning in and giving the other a smooch to the cheek.

when they weren't practicing their dances, and kang joon still had a long way to go, then he liked to work out more nowadays. he sadly hadn't been blessed with a body that would grow muscular fast, it more was like he had to put tons of work into defining his body compared to others. so whenever he had the time, he would do squats or sit ups or whatever practice he think of at the moment. after all kang joon thought that his looks were his biggest strength, there was not much more he was really excelling at.

he was doing some sit ups in the practice room during a break, when minggyu came in. as he looked up, he grinned at the other man. the younger member was tall, had broad shoulders and a fit body. how admirable. "hey bro, mind to join me for some time? could you hold down my legs, so I can do the sit ups more effectively?" he patted his knees and looked at him expectingly. "hold them like in the drama 'secret garden', so i can gaze at your handsome face." the older male teased, before he broke out in laughter.

"oh and when you have some time later, wanna do some sparring together? i want to get sweaty today."

they were just freshly debuted idols but kang joon couldn't help but think about all kind of variety, tv and radio shows they would visit some day. so when they had some time after training to actually relax, he would sit down in the living room and watch youtube videos from senior groups who got to play all types of games. he was quite excited about this side of idol life, it had always looked like a lot of fun and now that he was an uprising idol himself, kang joon hoped they would get to experience it firsthand themselves. he wasn't even too sure if they would have the chance to join any variety shows any time soon (they were still super rookies after all), but it couldn't hurt to look up some references beforehand and prepare himself mentally, would it?

squatting on the floor, he snorted at a video of a senior boygroup, and leaned against the couch behind him. jaehyun was sitting on the couch and excited he turned around to his self-proclaimed dimple brother to show him the video on his phone. "hey hey, jaehyun! what do you think of these kind of games? would you be shy?" on the screen said boygroup moved pieces of paper into a tray by picking them up with their lips and offering it to the boy next to them. kissing games like these were surely popular among the fans, and he was sure that their fans as well would go crazy if they saw sin-jae and vici interacting like this.

he had no problem with skinship and fanservice at all, as jaehyun probably knew by now, that's why he was curious about the other's opinion regarding those games.
