TW BUGS INSECTS MANTISES ONE OF THE BABBIES SHED ALREADY!!!! 🦗🦗🦗🦗 The shed is the vertical one in the middle of both pics - mantids shed by crawling downward out of their skin. You can see a mantis on the right that's a little lighter in colour (it's not just the lighting) and I suspect that he's the one that shed. They all hatched on April 28 (today is May 10) so they've been alive and growing about a week and a half!! (My estimated timeline based on what I looked up was 2 weeks before a first shed!) I'm guessing since none of the other babies shed yet, that the one that molted was the one that got "lost" but actually turned out to be one I had originally released since he would have been getting a lot of direct sunlight and outdoor heat all this time. (I definitely have 5 in there now!) I also suspect it must have been the one that kept running around in the tank yesterday full of energy compared to the others. I'm so proud of them, they're so fucking cute, I can't wait until they get big enough to handle.
