one thing I want to know about you: how did you get into ballet?

I started ballet originally when I was three years old because I loved dancing, the Nutcracker, and Angelina Ballerina! My parents took me to ballet lessons for a number of years, until we moved and I didn't do it again until recently!!!

thank you so much for this question, and because of a few kind doses of reality, I am pursuing it as a hobby and recreation because it sparks joy! Who knows where it will lead, but it will be wonderful through the whole process because I love nothing more!

It isn’t until the abrupt clatter of metal against floorboard echoes off plaster-peeling walls that Jamie peers up from tightly embraced knees. He found her! He had found her, and yet ... silence follows startle. For what feels like an hour, the girl holds her breath -- but when the sound of her own pounding pulse begins to drown out the heavy footsteps advancing her direction, Jamie forces a quaking inhale. What the mysterious Shape wanted was lost to her; the instinct to run had been the only thought to cross her mind the moment he had come into view. His figure was a looming shadow at every doorway -- his wielded weapon her panic. The Boogeyman: that’s who he has to be, straight out of the stories the kids would try to scare her with on the playground. However; when the creaking steps cease and curiosity gets the better of her, Jamie peeks out from her hiding place -- only to find abyssal, hollowed eyes having already spotted her. A scream -- it’s there, ready to become a last attempt at survival -- when the shine of silver plastic within the other’s grasp catches her eye.

Instinctively, fingers rise and tips graze where crimson foam should be. The clown mask. She had dropped it; the importance it held just this afternoon forgotten in a moment of fright. And now ... he was giving it back to her?  Strength returns to legs that had trembled in terror minutes ago and the young girl slowly rises within her shadowed corner, brows furrowing in bewilderment.

“ For ... for me? “ Outside the moonlit walls surrounding them, autumn’s wind rustles bare branches and strips their remaining crisp inhabitants from the bark. As if leaves caught within the season’s zephyr, Jamie’s words take alike shape: gentle and careful, yet carried with courage that was propelled by blustering curiosity the longer the tall figure stood still before her.  “ You’re giving it back to me ..? “

Perhaps it was the noted gleam of a discarded butcher knife that prompts Jamie’s next move, or maybe the fact that the thickness of danger in the air had suddenly dissipated, leaving the child in an unexpected state of calm. Regardless, she finds herself abandoning the protective veil the crevice of the living room provided, treading carefully in the form of a few short, advancing steps. Much like her features, now visible in the pale glow of the full moon, Jamie’s voice had come out from hiding. The sound was foreign; it had been so long -- and yet, it returned effortlessly for this man: drawn and lacking hesitation, as if it had been awaiting his arrival.

From the plastic accessory held out for her taking to the dark voids from which she felt eyes fixated on her did Jamie’s own remained locked. He had yet to answer her -- to make any sort of sound other than exhales against a face not his own. But taking the outstretched hand as a response, Jamie’s own slowly begin reaching out to grasp her own mask with hands much smaller in comparison. Not once could she recall meeting this intimidating shadow; and yet despite the pallid, emotionless face that gazed down at her, a sense of familiarity was undeniable.  The polyester material of her clown costume audibly shuffles in adjustment as hands recoil, mask now in tow. Was the Boogeyman not that bad after all?
