I recently got the sweetest comment asking if I could show how Rachel first met Fred and George — and honestly, how could I resist?
Their friendship is such a huge part of her story, and writing that first chaotic, hilarious meeting made my heart so full.
Starting from Chapter 2, I’ve been adding small flashback scenes at the end of each chapter — little glimpses into Rachel’s past and everyday life.
And today, I’m sharing the “first meeting” scene here, too!
Hope you enjoy this tiny trip back in time.

The Burrow - When Rachel met the Twins at the age of 10
The Burrow looked like it had been built by wizards who made decisions with their hearts and not with blueprints.
Rachel stood at the end of the garden path, her hand still curled around the strap of her bag, eyes tracking the uneven chimney and the window that blinked open and shut like a slow eyelid. It wasn’t like any home she’d ever seen.
Tonks grinned down at her. “Weird, right? You’ll love it.”
Rachel didn’t answer. But she was already smiling.
Tonks walked in without knocking. From the kitchen, Molly Weasley called, “Is that you, Nymphadora?”
Tonks winced. “Only legally.” A moment later, Molly appeared with flour on her nose and a wooden spoon in one hand. She took Rachel in with one warm glance and smiled.
“So this is little Rachel!” Molly said. “My goodness, you’ve got clever eyes. You must keep Tonks on her toes.”
“I try,” Rachel said, just above a whisper. “You’ll stay for lunch, won’t you?” Molly didn’t wait for an answer. “Fred and George are out back. Why don’t you pop out and say hello? You’re all around the same age.”
Rachel’s face went blank. “Er…” “They don’t bite,” Tonks said, nudging her. “Often.”
Molly leaned out the back door. “Fred! George! Come in for a minute!”
A beat later, two nearly-identical boys tramped in, leaves in their hair and smudges on their cheeks. One was holding what looked like half of a broom handle. The other had a slightly smoking sock.
They spotted Rachel.
Rachel spotted them.
Molly beamed. “This is Rachel. She’s Tonks’ cousin. Why don’t you take her outside for a bit?”
Fred blinked. “We were... in the middle of something.”
Tonks crossed her arms. “Play nice, boys.”
Rachel stood her ground. “I don’t need babysitting.”
“That’s good,” said George. “We don’t do that.”
There was a short silence.
Then Molly clapped her hands once. “Off you go! I’ll bring out some lemonade.”
Tonks winked at Rachel as she passed her. “Don’t let them bury you in the garden.”
And then Rachel found herself following two complete strangers into the bright, humming garden of the Burrow, not because she had to, but because curiosity tugged at her heels.
The sun was warm. The grass was long. And the twins were completely ignoring her.
Fred and George darted through the garden, chasing a gnome that had stolen George’s sock and was somehow wearing it like a hat. They were laughing and bickering and finishing each other’s sentences — and not once had they asked Rachel anything, or even looked back to see if she was keeping up.
She stood near the crooked fence, arms folded, watching them like she was calculating how to undo them. “Same age,” she muttered under her breath. “Not the same planet.”
Every attempt she’d made to join in had been met with one-word answers, shoulder shrugs, or flat-out distraction. It wasn’t that they were mean. They just didn’t seem to see her. Like she was background noise in their never-ending two-player game.
Fine. If they wouldn’t see her, she’d make them taste her.
Literally.
From the corner of her eye, Rachel spotted Mrs. Weasley through the kitchen window, placing three tall glasses of lemonade on a tray and heading for the back door. Perfect.
While Fred and George wrestled over whether or not the gnome was cheating, Rachel slipped quietly back onto the porch, moving like a cat in sneakers. The tray sat unattended on the bench for a single glorious moment, just enough.
She grabbed the salt shaker from the kitchen counter. Three shakes in each glass. One extra in Fred’s, for good measure. She stirred quickly with a spoon.
By the time Molly called out, “Lemonade, darlings!” Rachel was already walking back across the grass like nothing had happened. Fred and George came bounding over, pink-cheeked and thirsty.
“Oho, brilliant,” Fred said, grabbing one.
George snatched his up. “Just what we needed.”
Rachel cocked her head slightly. “Wanna make it a race?” Fred blinked. “A race?”
“Yeah.” She shrugged. “First to finish wins. Loser owes the winner a sickle.”
George narrowed his eyes, suspicious now — but only slightly. “You’re on.”
Fred held up his glass. “Three—”
“Two—” George chimed in.
Rachel gave her best innocent smile. “One.”
They both tilted their glasses back. And instantly regretted it.
Fred made a sound like a choked owl, yanked the glass away from his mouth, and spat the contents in a dramatic arc across the grass. George doubled over coughing, spraying lemonade across his sleeve.
“WHAT—what IS THAT?!” Fred gagged, wiping his tongue on his sleeve like it had personally betrayed him.
George was wheezing. “It’s—salty?! Why is it—what kind of MONSTER salts lemonade?!”
Rachel took a slow, demure sip from her glass. “Hmm. Mine tastes fine.”
Fred stared at her. “No.” “No,” echoed George, pointing a sticky, trembling finger. “You. You did this.”
Rachel didn’t deny it. She just blinked and tilted her head.
“You dared us to drink it fastest,” Fred muttered, eyes wide with dawning horror. “You set us up,” George groaned, flopping dramatically into the grass like he’d been betrayed by the laws of the universe.
Rachel gave a small, victorious shrug. “You weren’t exactly including me.” Fred and George exchanged a silent look, twin language, perfectly in sync, and then, at once, they burst out laughing.
Rachel finished her lemonade, and sat down onto the grass with them. “So… are you done being annoying now?”
The twins looked at each other.
“No,” they said in perfect unison.“But we’re annoying with respect,” George added.
“Loads of it,” Fred agreed. “You’ve got style, Rach.” Rachel blinked. “Rach?”
Fred smirked. “You’ve been initiated.”
Rachel raised an eyebrow. “Into what?” George stood, and said with dramatic flair, “The Brotherhood of Utter Nonsense.”
Fred added, “Membership requires exactly one successful act of sabotage.” Rachel crossed her arms, mock serious. “Do I get a badge?”
“No,” said George, grinning. “But you get to help us prank Ron later.” “And you’re never allowed to go near our drinks again,” Fred said, rubbing his tongue. “Like, ever.”
Rachel smiled, not big, not showy. But real. For the first time since arriving, she didn’t feel like the weird outsider Tonks had dragged along. She felt seen.

Hi to all of you who read my current story ‘In Another Life’. I’m currently working on chapter 7 (already about 2k words) and I was wondering if you still have some wishes of what you want Elijah to experience.
We currently have: Confrontation with Klaus, Some kind of Near-Death Experience, A Klaus/Elijah Flashbackscene in 1492

I watched this movie yesterday for the first time in 10 years and my memory of it was good... BUT HOLY- I was sobbing, this scene was so touching and beautiful! I didn't care much for Mr. Ping in the first movie but this. THIS!!! This whole movie!!! Him caring for Po, the flashbackscene, him being afraid Po won't return to him, THIS!!! Literally EVERY scene with him broke me.
Kung Fu Panda is one of this rare cases where the second movie was better than the first one.
Fight me about this. No, don't, I don't wanna argue

Your story may not have a happy beginning, but that doesn’t make you who you are. It is the rest of your story, who you choose to be.

I have a carmilla movie question for you. Is the scene where Carmilla is in the black dress and bites Elle real? I thought that those moments were Elle trying to warn Laura. I mean Elle is wearing the black dress as a ghost and Carmilla is wearing white in the flashback scenes. Also wouldn't she know that Carm was a vampire if that happened before the Dean told her about it? But then in the flashbackscene when Elle cuts her hand, she says '... while she drank my blood." Idk I'm just confused
All of what happens in the flashbacks/dream world are real memories. I believe they’ve taken what was from the novella, and adapted it to the screen- in which Carmilla would draw Elle into a state of ease, or make it seem as if it were a dream when she would take from the girl. I believe in the novella it was a sort of “fog” Carmilla had on Elle. Which would explain why or how Elle did not remember, or understand, what was really happening. I think she was in that fog and didn’t fully know it was Carmilla- somewhat like in the novella where she thought she was dreaming but goodness did it look so much like her new friend Carmilla coming atop her in bed!- until the Dean came to her outside of that fog state and told her the truth. (And in those dreams I think, and even in some peculiar moments in the waking world, Carmilla would expostulate how she loved Elle in the novella.)
When Carm is wearing the white, it is a symbol of her change of behavior and feeling toward what she was doing to all the other girls, and to Elle. It was more of a “she’s evil but she’s running away to change” type of symbolism of the gown, or at least that’s what I took it as. And as we all know, the best symbolism to mark evil to good, is black and white. (Which is why I loved that they put Elle in that black gown as a form of irony.)
It was not to warn Laura, but to show just how... monstrous Carmilla is. Remember Elle, when she found out about Carmilla, was immediately repulsed, calling her a monster, etc. But Laura didn’t shrink back, instead she accepted Carmilla for what she was. Elle hated that, and I think that’s why she wanted to show the “truth” of the matter by showing just how monstrous Carmilla was to Elle.
I hope this helps!

flashbackscene replied to your post “I think I dislocated my shoulder unraveling a scarf”
Don't feel bad, I dislocated my shoulder once playing Wii Tennis. :(
Ouch. Thankfully my shoulder is no longer in pain, so maybe not displaced.
