Credit to @nichbrand : View out of Fleshmarket Close to Cockburn Street. Fleshmarket Close connects the Royal Mile with Waverley Station and continues on the other side of the street in my pic. Just back from a top secret mission (for now!) shooting for an upcoming event you'll likely be interested in if you like the stuff on this page...more on that next week 😉 So, we are on Cockburn Street, looking up HALF of Fleshmarket Close. Fleshmarket Close was twice as long as it appears and thats because it starts on the Mile (you are looking up it here) and behind me, it carries on to Market Street where it terminates opposite Waverley Station. Fleshmarket Close...so called because a primitive meat market (flesh market) existed here a couple of hundred years ago, its one of the longer closes in the Old Town, split by Cockburn Street running down the middle and is also the name used by Ian Rankin for one of his excellent crime novels. There are a number of angles though this is my own preferred shot from my collection.
