It’s been different, working by himself. But Curt manages.

The work he’s put into CHIMERA sometimes feels like it’s not paying off, but he continues on no matter what. Which, it’s currently led him to his current mission out of many others. Stepping into a dark room, he can see a lone computer in the middle with the screen. Such a screen lit up, ready with.. Something.

Curt’s never been great with computers.

Stepping forward and closing the door, he approached. Listening to the quiet humming of the edges of the room, of soft fans cooling down something. “The hell is this?” He mumbled, mainly at the computer as he took in the sight.

For a moment nothing happens, nothing but silence and the sound of machines which fills the empty space like crickets, a reminder of the lack of noise. You could cut the tension with a plastic knife..

And then a click is heard and the machines get louder, letters start appearing on the screen one by one, glowing and golden:

Floppy disc Owen but chimera did more than upload consciousness

Here are some ideas in fragments

Owen’s consciousness is uploaded to a floppy disc while he’s still alive. Chimera (somehow) makes it so that it’s sorta dormant until his physical body dies.

During the Torture Tango, it’s less that Owen is torturing Curt for the fun of it, (he still is but it’s different), more like he’s making Curt into some fucked up kind of human that had technology implanted in him so he can never die, thus “the horror of staying alive”.

So Curt lives on, staying alive through the years. Owen gets transferred through generations of devices. In the current years, the 2020s, Owen is on all of Curt’s devices, like his phone, computer and watch. In years to come, Owen will connect with the technology inside Curt and be sort of like a second consciousness (a lá the SQUIP from Be More Chill)

They’re in love. They hate each other so much. They only have each other across the years. They will insult each other to no end

Curt continues to spy. Through actual espionage, not the whole “behind a desk” thing. As years pass, the government hides the fact that Curt is no longer fully human. He’s sort of like the Winter Soldier, a special agent with a unique skill set used only for the most critical of missions

Owen desperately misses his body. But if Curt asks, he’s “glad he got rid of that pesky old thing. Never was quite the same after the explosion”

Curt misses Owen being a physical presence he can hold. But if Owen asks, “you’re less bothersome this way. Besides, you’re actually useful now that you are directly connected to databases”

This means I can put Curt and Owen in Hatchetfield

Thinking about an avatar for Floppy Disk Owen. What if he wears a toga and a gold laurel wreath, inspired by the ancient Greeks, because the original chimaera myth is from Greek mythology? I'm not an expert in mythology, but he could be styled after Hermes because his job is to deliver messages/information, and Hermes is associated with the underworld--like Chimera "guiding" people into their new world and deciding their fates. Maybe Owen is depicted with a caduceus with the head of a lion as well as the snakes, and... goat horns? I'm not sure.

Since Hermes is also the god of thieves, this would work for Owen because he steals data and passes it on to Chimera. And he'd have winged sandals so he's always one step ahead. He's digital so I imagine as an extra detail he'd have lines of code/circuit patterns across his body (a bit like Light Hope from She-Ra).

Her heart is missing, replaced with code. What if FD Owen had that too? Think about those implications.

For colours, maybe white and gold because Chimera appeals to the rich and powerful? Also, I think Owen would rock gold jewellery.

Anyway, this was just a ramble that I thought was interesting. I don't really have a clear idea, I just wanted to get it out of my system. If anyone has ideas (especially if they know Greek mythology better than me) please feel free to give them!

I keep on seeing floppy disc Owen posts and this is all I can imagine.

Curt is reckless. Curt is impatient.

He had tried to rush back into the same facility he previously broke into, to see Owen. To try and get him out of there. Maybe retrieve parts of the machine, see what would happen. Admittedly he hadn’t actually gone in with much of a plan, merely the thought of interacting with the machine again. He had gone back in too soon, the attempt too quick. He wasn’t sure what the exact deal had been, but it felt like they had been waiting for him. Ready to corner him.

His memories are hazy.

He’s struggling to open his eyes, blearily blinking as he comes to consciousness. Curt doesn’t know where he is or what could be happening. His head swam, trying to focus on the room. He couldn’t help his eyes squinting half-shut as he tried peering around the room. The main issue was the lacking ability of walking. He couldn’t even stand. His arms were tied up too.

“..Hello?” He mumbled out.

You’re back, why?

Owen’s not sure how he feels about this, last time he saw Curt he started… malfunctioning.. So he’s mad, but he also missed Curt? Is he glad to see him again? Surely Curt has a plan, no one would be stupid enough to come back so soon- right?

Either way, it took some convincing to get to talk to him, so he better prove himself worth it, prove he can be trusted, prove he’s worth keeping alive.

Don’t get me wrong, Curt definitely suffered, no one came out of that facility without being fundamentally changed as a person and Curt had to deal with all the loneliness and self loathing that comes with. Owen’s life past the incident is also… hidden which leaves the audience with Curt’s experiences and pain alone.

But Curt gets better, he finds people he can trust, he finds a reason to fight, slowly he learns that although he’s never going back to being “The Old Curt” and he can never fully forgive himself for what he did he can keep living and he’s not alone. 

Now imagine suffering so painful it burns away your former self completely, your beliefs, your morals, your values… how much suffering would it take to make you kill randomly? Work with the worst people on the planet? Knowingly endanger hundreds of people just like you? What force could be so strong as to make you cross all those lines.. He said he moved on, he’s only here to change the world… but he couldn’t take the shot, Curt was the one thing he couldn’t kill, couldn’t get rid of, couldn’t live without. Curt may be forever changed by the incident but Owen is forever defined by it,like a ghost with unfinished business suffering is the blood pumping through his veins and keeping him alive, he is his pain. It’s hard to believe Owen found a true friend in his years of “undeath” so it’s very probable that the closest he got to opening up was when he last spoke to Curt, raising his voice.. Lowering his gun.. And once again he was reminded what happens when you trust. When you love, when you lower your guard.

Hypothetically, I wouldn’t know since I’m totally over it.

hey guys you wanna hear my floppy disc Owen headcanon?

okay of course you do

so basically Barb was going through Curt’s stuff while he was moving or something and found a disc. She’s like “oh hm what’s this, Curt?” And then Curt tells her that it’s a mixtape Owen made for him years and years ago but has yet to listen to it. Barb, being all scientific and such, she helps Curt to get the data off it and onto his compute. Barb leaves and Curt starts the playlist, but it’s not a playlist at all. He expects a song but he hears “If you’re watching this, I’m dead.” Owen explains what happened and Curt is shocked and such. Barb comes back, Curt tries to keep it a secret, it doesn’t work, yadda yadda. So Barb and Floppy disc Owen become pals and I dunno I just
