Sometimes the best way to play is to be a tourist in your own town! Today I finally got to bond with the wildlife @staugalligatorfarm in St. Augustine @floridashistoriccoast - it made me realize how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place that sees so many visitors every year. A not uncommon sight to see if you’re near freshwater in Florida is the American Alligators! There are more than one million alligators just in Florida! 😮 We saw plenty of Alligators on the Wakulla Springs boat tour and it was very cool to see them from a nice distance 😅 The tour guide would point them out and tell us their approximate age by the size and a lot of them were rather large! While alligators may seem problematic often, they are still very important to the local ecosystem keeping things in balance! 🐊💚🐊 . . . WATCH: Florida deputy uses broom to wrangle alligator A Florida sheriff’s deputy was captured on camera using a broom to wrangle an alligator that was found hiding underneath a car, Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to a Tampa neighborhood last Thursday when a gator was spotted taking a snooze in the shade underneath a car. The approximately 4-foot gator had wondered from a nearby pond behind several homes in the neighborhood. One of the deputies used the broom to guide the reptile in the right direction. The gator latched onto the broom and went for a joyride back to the pond.Deputies are using the encounter to remind Floridians that it’s still alligator mating season. They advised residents to keep a safe distance, keep their pets on a leash, and swim only in designated swimming areas during daylight. Florida D I N O S A U R 🐊 Follow @elenakalis to see her EPIC work #FlaCoastal #preserve #protect #respect _ #FitForTheCoast #ItsAllAboutLovingTheFloridaLifestyle ______________________________ These images were made in a special alligator reserve with the help of professional handlers. These people are highly trained and have many years of experience with these particular alligators. Only then can the risks be reduced to an acceptable level. The purpose of these images is to provide balance to common perceptions about those epic predators. Alligators are powerful and react instinctively. People should NEVER approach an alligator for any reason. Everglades Outpost is a non-profit reserve for alligators that might otherwise be put down, and can be visited to experience and learn more about these creatures that roamed the earth before man. _________________________________ #photo_features BE SURE TO ATTRIBUTE CREDIT BEFORE REPOSTING #photocredit #pureflorida #roamflorida #raw_florida_flacoastal #raw_florida #wildflorida #thecoastallife #findyourcoast #aligator #underwaterpic #underwaterphoto #underwaterphotographer #underwaterphotography #everglades #evergladesoutpost #Floridaexplored #floridawildlife #floridagators #floridaalligator #gator #naturephotography #photographylovers (at Everglades Outpost) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvOwRlag7-s/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=fskeptxupni5
