“lycanthropy,” while instantly recognizable for readers and informs them immediately of what they’re probably dealing with, is jarring for people who know the word’s linguistical roots/meaning when it’s applied to critters like wererats, werebears, weresharks, and werecrocodiles
I do like that there’s at least a separate, more linguistically-accurate strain called entothropy, which turns the infected/afflicted into werebugs.
