In a press conference shared by FOX29, police claim they managed to track Heron down with help from the public, but finding him was not straightforward because the information that flooded social media was not entirely accurate.
It appears Heron was using a fake name in order to throw off the authorities and conceal his identity. Even though savvy social media users were able to trace down an account in connection with the attacker, the name was a red herring. Philly police claim that the social media section of their Criminal Intelligence Unit identified Heron by piecing together the available information and the viral footage of the assault. Presumably, that includes the information that came in from more close credible sources like Heron’s boss.

The Philadelphia triple shooting resulting in the death of a 19-year-old Popeyes restaurant employee may have been sparked by an argument over a girl, a report says.
Police who responded to the incident Monday night after the restaurant closed in the northern part of the city also found two other employees suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Fox29 Philadelphia. They are now reported to be in stable condition.
Law enforcement sources told the station that an argument over a girl may have led to the shooting and that investigators believe the victims knew their attackers, possibly having worked with them in the past.
Descriptions of suspects were not immediately available. The Philadelphia Police Department did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital on Wednesday morning.
TRIPLE SHOOTING LEAVES 1 POPEYES EMPLOYEE DEAD, 2 INJURED IN PHILADELPHIA
The shooting victims were reportedly found by police first in a Honda Civic riddled with bullet holes.
The Popeyes' parking lot they were shot in was five blocks away, where authorities found nearly 50 bullet shells.
The 19-year-old employee who died was shot multiple times in the head, police told Fox29 Philadelphia.
Surveillance footage has been recovered from the store as part of the investigation, the law enforcement source also said.

Plastic consumption in New Jersey tripled despite the state's 2022 plastic ban meant to and address the "problem of plastic pollution," according to a study from a business-research firm.
The study found that the state's law banning single-use plastic bags led to a 60% decrease in the total bag volume, according to analysis from the Freedonia Report, MarketResearch.com's business research division.
However, as consumers started searching for alternatives and purchasing plastic reusable bags, the state saw plastic consumption triple, largely because of the material used in the alternative bags, the report shows.
"Most of these alternative bags are made with non-woven polypropylene, which is not widely recycled in the United States and does not typically contain any post-consumer recycled materials," the report states.
The ban, which took effect in May 2022, prevented large retailers, groceries and food service stores from distributing the plastic bags, reports Fox29.
Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, upon signing the bill, said the measure would address New Jersey's "most problematic forms of garbage" and "help mitigate climate change and strengthen our environment for future generations,"

After a search in which the public provided some of the information leading to the arrest, the Philadelphia Police Department and District Attorney’s Office have identified the biker as 26-year-old Cody Heron. His identity was confirmed by local authorities who claim to be grateful for a flood of information from the public following Heron’s assault on Nikki Bullock. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Heron’s own employer was among those who reached out to police in the aftermath of the assault, though the newspaper makes no mention of who the employer is, nor of what Heron’s job was prior to his arrest. Per the Inquirer:Read moreHeron crashed into Bullock’s Ford Fusion on Sunday night while he was part of a group of riders on dirt bikes and ATVs — many of which are not legally allowed on public roads.Heron’s motorcycle made contact with Bullock’s car at an intersection near Philadelphia’s City Hall. An argument ensued, culminating in Heron smashing the rear glass of Bullock’s car. Heron then kicks in the back window, spraying shattered glass all over the victim’s two children, ages two and five, who were seated in the back seat. A firearm can be seen falling from the defendant’s waistband before he retrieves the weapon and threatens the victim with it after she confronts him on the street. A 14-year-old boy has been charged with third-degree murder after a 73-year-old man was beaten to death in Philadelphia with a traffic cone, reports say.
The teen, identified as Richard Jones, is being charged as an adult and is also accused of criminal conspiracy in the June 24 killing of James Lambert, according to Fox29 Philadelphia.
Police allege Jones was the first to strike Lambert with a traffic cone and say they have identified a female suspect seen hitting Lambert at least three times in surveillance footage of the attack, the station added.
The Philadelphia Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday from Fox News Digital.
PHILADELPHIA MAN TURNS TABLE ON ROBBERY SUSPECTS, SHOOTS AFTER GETTING SHOT TWICE, POLICE SAY
Jones and his 10-year-old brother turned themselves into the Philadelphia Police Department's homicide unit on Monday for their alleged involvement in the beating.
Police reportedly released the younger brother without any charges, according to Fox29 Philadelphia.
Disturbing surveillance footage of the incident released by police shows a group of teens pursuing the man on a street in northwest Philadelphia before striking him with traffic cones shortly before 3:00 a.m.
One of the juvenile suspects appeared to record the attack on a cell phone as others chased the victim down the street.
Lambert was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries the next day.
"I just don’t understand what’s going on in our city," Tania Stephens, Lambert's niece, told Fox 29 Philadelphia. "He’s walked that path for 60, 70 years of his life, and for his life to be snuffed out like that, is just unbelievable."
A $20,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of each suspect.
The Philadelphia Police Department is still searching for five other offenders, who they describe as two Black males and three Black females in their early to mid-teens.

A medida que la Copa del Mundo llega a su fin, los escritores de fútbol de The Enquirer ofrecen sus predicciones para la final.
Sábado, 10 a.m.
