"Die Stadt Freiberg hat das Ziel, ihre Innenstadt durch eine Erweiterung des Bergbaumuseums und eine Neuausrichtung der Ausstellung sowohl für Einheimische als auch für Touristen attraktiver zu machen. Die Erweiterung soll durch einen Eingangsbau in der Häuserlücke zwischen den beiden bisherigen Gebäuden des Museums erreicht werden, von denen das eine bisher nur als Lager genutzt wird. Die Baumaßnahme soll durch verschiedene Veranstaltungen wie zum Beispiel eine Einkaufs-, eine Kulturnacht und eine thematische Erweiterung der Stadtführungen begleitet werden. Durch eine bessere Information der Bürger über die Stadtgeschichte soll ihr Bürgerstolz gestärkt werden."
