LT Doodle Stream Recap/Questions!
(Part 1/Part 2)
Hello everyone! Wisteriasymphony here. Yesterday the LT hivemind had the wonderful experience of our first doodle stream together!
Tumblr media
For the purposes of cataloging all of the questions we answered on our stream (because somebody doesn't know how streaming works yet *COUGH COUGH*), I'm going to be answering them all here!
Tumblr media
La Terreur takes place in 2002, and the events of the timeline last about a year. Of course, it's a retrofuturistic cyberpunk-y 2002, which explains later developments like the alliance ring and so on.
Tumblr media
They're the same au! Miracle Exposure has just been a tag Silu has used to categorize talking about the effects of the miraculous, but it all happens within LT.
Hawkmoth is already a pretty solid design as is. Shadowmoth and Monarch will probably get overhauls later on, but why fix what isn't broken? Hawkmoth is already just the right amount of gross and creepy and fancy and bald, so no need to revamp that.
Tumblr media
The consensus to far is that Felix arrived before the quarantine was instated, but he could easily have bribed officials into letting him into Paris if he needed to. The quarantine is mostly to keep people in, and if some idiot with a death wish high-paying member of the british aristocracy is willing to give money to a dying city just for a ticket in, then why wouldn't they let him?
Tumblr media
@gaussiansphere put it quite nicely in the stream when he said that the heroes aren't trapped in Paris physically, but mentally. There's nothing theoretically stopping Ladybug from blowing a hole in the defenses of Paris and going on the run, but she has a moral obligation to protect her city. Everyone else feels roughly the same way, though we did discuss the idea of having the concept of migration fit Max better by virtue of his big goals in life involving getting out of Paris.
Also, the miraculous will likely be passed out differently. We're not following exact episodes, only storylines.
On a similar note....
Tumblr media
Ladybug will probably alternate who she gives all of the minor miraculous to multiple times over the course of the story. She would find it ridiculous to pass them out to people "for keeps", as @sillysiluriforme put it, and before a certain point in the story will favor adult holders over teen holders. (Not saying why this changes though heehee, spoilers.)
Tumblr media
MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!!!!!!!!
#wispanol arc hehe. also YES you saw that right English audience, the kwamis are smokers. Marinette has to ask Luka's bandmates for vapes because the closest bodega to her house is run by a sweet Chinese grandma who her mom likes talking to, so if she bought from there she'd be absolutely screwed. Adrien just buys all of the tobacco as Chat, though.
Tumblr media
We're not planning on having Aspik show up in LT, at least as far as we have planned. If he did, however, his rat eating desire would definitely go through the roof. He'd probably try and time his rat-eating specifically for when he's Chat Noir, just to make things easier for himself. (Until he eats one as Adrien by accident and has to live with the mental baggage for the rest of his miserable little life...)
Tumblr media
Well.. there are a lot of characters that really don't need redesigns! Or where redesigns would be extremely minimal. Marinette's dad only really needs to get proportional legs and then that's it, and the same philosophy extends to most of the other minor characters.
Here are some of @clemnoir's designs for the rest of the class, though!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In fact, her lovely annotations somewhat answer another question we received....
Tumblr media
We haven't figured out everyone yet, but the scholarships group so far is: Kim, Max, Ivan, Rose, Nathaniel, and Mylene. Adrien, Chloe, Sabrina, Alix, and Marinette are all paid tuition.
Tumblr media
There could be! The ancient miraculous are indeed destroyed, much like the infinite amount of others like them, Bearinette and Lambdrien are just explorations of what it would be like if they hadn't been. The bear and lamb miraculous are not canon to LT, nor would any future ancients be. If we get any good ideas, you'll see them.
[wis is biting all of her fingers to prevent herself from talking about the coyote....]
Tumblr media
The big issue Marinette has with being Multimouse is that she's no longer respected as the leader, at least as much as she's used to. Because she sees Ladybug as more of a responsibility than fun superpowers, her side effects are more psychological by consequence, whereas Adrien's are more physical. She also feels some sense of jealousy towards Scarabella, as well as general insecurity over not being the leader when she's Multimouse... but despite this she continues to use the Mouse Miraculous more often than in canon just for the sake of "training" Alya.
Tumblr media
Silu dice muchas gracias!!!!!
Tumblr media
Violence and misery and horror and class dynamics. I'll get into it more in Part 2, but characters' relationships to power is a huge part of this AU, both of the magical and non-magical variety.

top nine first time watches of 2023 tagged by @dizzymoods
this accidentally posted while I was working on alt text during a work break, so not everything is complete but the photos align with the text below.
#1 top film and theater experience of the year) watching Fremont in Fremont as a former Fremont resident
(2023, Babak Jalali)
2) Animalia (Parmi nous) via Sundance streaming
(2023, Sofia Alaoui)
becomes a truly mystical experience. like ppl are gonna make comparisons with certain Soviet films but let this one stand on its own pls
3) Bravo, Burkina (2023 , Walé Oyéjidé) via Sundance streaming
4) Cry of the City (1948, Robert Siodmak) at Noir City.
My fave of the films I was able to catch at the various festivals here throughout the SF Bay, though for top experience I was grateful to finally get to the Castro Theatre for two SF Silent Film screenings before Another Planet changes the seats...
5) The Blazing Sun (Siraa Fil-Wadi) (1954, Youssef Chahine)
screencap found here
6) There is No Evil (Sheytân vojūd nadârad)
(2020, Mohammad Rasoulof)
The "Bella ciao" scene alone is iconic! Yet it is just one moment within a devastating and strident cinematic statement.
7) And Then We Danced (Da chven vitsek'vet)
(2019, Levan Akin)
If you have had any rigorous dance training, you can tell how good this film is- down in the details, telling story through movement.
8) Journey to Epcot Center: A Symphonic History
(2023, Defunctland/Kevin Perjurer)
screencap found here
I SUPPORT KEVIN IN ALL HIS ENDEAVORS
9) Baticano (2023, Stillz)
Imagine my surprise when I turn my TV and one of the best modern homages to German Expressionism and 30's-50's Western studio horror, starring Bad Bunny as Nosferatu and Steve Buscemi as a "mad scientist." The depths of the black parts of the screen alone... pure! black! contrast! Not the telltale flat digital black-gray!
Benito may be no Max Schreck, but Stillz was on a roll for the rapper's videos last year, and now I feel less... embarrassed? that I was repeatedly hypnotized by the hyper-Coachella vibes of the "Where She Goes" video... Stillz has skills.
Or at least knows how to shoot what I like.
Runners-up are many, but I want to highlight:
a) a small but solid run of horror viewing in October, from the adrenaline of As Above So Below to all the subtext James Whale snuck into The Old Dark House. Doctor Jekyll and Sister Hyde should be counted as one of the best Hammer horrors imo. On the borders of the horror were Mother Joan of the Angels, La Llorona, and the more witchy fantasy The Five Devils.
b) sidestep into Indonesia with May the Devil Take You, which may not be at the tip top levels of Impetigore but still a uniquely wild ride. Headshot sets standards on the action side, and you can definitely spot Gareth Evans' Indonesian industry training in his English folk-action-horror foray Apostle.

🎶Música/Musique/音樂🎶 Pt. 2!!
Tumblr media
A/N: I AM SO SORRY THIS IS SO DAMN LATE!!! I was supposed to have posted this one SEVERAL months ago... like, waaaaay before Orelsan and Stromae came out with their new albums 😭😭😭 But alas, here we are... hope you enjoy! 🤗😅😅
Here we go with a part 2 to one of my favorite posts! I am proud to say that since publishing the first post (that you can find here) I have found more french and Japanese music to listen to!
As far as Japanese goes, I naturally found more music in that language after having gotten back into anime recently; plain and simple lol. So without further ado, here are some of the new (to me) songs I've developed a liking to!
JAPANESE🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
Time to weeb out once again!!! But not too much this time; I only have a few songs from 2 series I've gotten (back) into recently. And like in the first post, the songs in this section will be categorized by anime series instead of by artist name.
Fire Force 🔥🚒🧑🏽‍🚒
"Inferno" by Mrs. Green Apple (Attitude)
"veil" by Keina Suda (Porte)
"MAYDAY" by Coldrain Feat. Ryo (THE SIDE EFFECTS)
Boku no Hero Academia 🦸🏼💥💪🏾👊🏾
"The Day" by Porno Graffitti (Butterfly Effect)
"Odd future" by UVERworld (UNSER)
"Make My Story" Lenny code fiction (Montage)
"Peace Sign" by Kenshi Yonezu (BOOTLEG)
FRENCH 🇫🇷 🇩🇿 🇨🇩
Not hating on Stromae, but I FINALLY FOUND MORE ARTISTS TO LISTEN TO FOR FRENCH!!! This section has what I believe to be a healthy mix of singing and rapping, so y'all get a little bit of the best of both worlds!
Slimane 🇫🇷 🇩🇿
Aaaaaaah Slimane... GOD do I love this guys voice!! To be honest, I'm not crazy about some of his songs in which he tries to sing in a higher register because it sounds like he's straining himself when he does. BUT, when he sings in his deeper, more comfortable register? *chef's kiss* AH~! I came across him in this random playlist that appeared on Tidal when I was looking for French music during the panini (shoutout to Lil Nas X, lol), listened to a few songs he made with this other artist Vitaa, and immediately became hooked. I became more than interested in hearing more of his solo works, so I fell down that rabbit hole, and found these gems that I continue to listen to on repeat to this day:
"Adieu" (À bout de rêves)
"À fleur de toi" (À bout de rêves)
"La famille ça va bien!" (À bout de rêves)
"Ainsi va la vie" (À bout de rêves)
"Avance" (À bout de rêves)
"Viens on s'aime" (Solune)
"L'absence" (Solune)
"Roméo" (Solune) {Couldn't find a quality recording on youtube, but I'm sure you can find this on most music streaming services!}
"Nous Deux" (Solune)
Slimane 🇫🇷 🇩🇿 & Vitaa 🇫🇷
As I mentioned under Slimane's section, I first found out about him via an album he and this other artist, Vitaa, made together called VersuS. I literally love this whole album; like, I can't choose which songs are my favorite from that one... so one could imagine my delightful dilemma when they released the 2nd volume, VersuS - CHAPITRE II. Again, I can't choose which songs off of these 2 albums I like more than others, so I say just listen to both albums and get into it, yuh! (Shoutout to Doja Cat 😁✌🏾)
VersuS
*VersuS - CHAPITRE 2
*The hyperlink is for both albums
Maître GIMS 🇫🇷🇨🇩
What's funny about Maître GIMS is that when I first heard some of his stuff I didn't really like it because I thought his voice was WAY too strong for what I was hearing him sing. Eventually I realized that I simply wasn't hearing the right songs by him... something that was easily fixed when I heard the song "Bella Ciao" that he made with Slimane, Vitaa, and these other 2 French artists Dadju and Naestro (this song was also in that French playlist on Tidal). And if you're wondering, yes that song was inspired by the "Bella Ciao" from the Spanish Netflix series La casa de papel. Thanks to the remake of "Bella Ciao", I was able to stumble upon some other songs by Maître GIMS that I can't stop listening to:
"La même" Feat. Vianney (Ceinture noire)
"Sapés comme jamais" Feat. Niska (Mon cœur avait raison)
"Belle" Feat. Slimane & Dadju (Belle - Single)
"Reste" Feat. Sting (Ceinture noire [Transcendance])
"Loup Garou" Feat. Sofiane (Loup garou)
Orelsan 🇫🇷
Can't exactly say I remember how I came across this Caen-native rapper... it may have been via seeing it listed under the "related albums" section under another French artist's album on Tidal??? Either way, I do remember coming across it by pure chance, being intrigued by the album cover for La fête est finie - EPILOGUE, listening to and seriously liking the album in its entirety. Haven't had the chance to fully listen to his other albums, but here are the songs I like the most off of La fête est finie:
"La famille, la famille"
"Discipline"
"Excuses ou mensonges"
"Rêves bizarres" Feat. Damso
"Basique"
"Défaite de famille"
"Quand est-ce que ca s'arrête"
"Christophe" Feat. Maître GIMS
"Zone" Feat. Nekfeu & Dizzee Rascal
"Dans ma ville, on traîne"
Nekfeu 🇫🇷
Orelsan introduced me to Nekfeu! He did it through his song "Zone" in which Nekfeu, along with Dizzee Rascal, was featured. Immediately upon discovering Nekfeu I was hooked. His beats, voice, flow... lured me in so far that I kinda forgot about Orelsan for a while (désolée mon cher 😭). Here are some of Nekfeu's songs I'm lowkey obsessed with:
"Nique les clones, Pt. II" (Feu)
"Princesse" Feat. Nemir (Feu)
"Squa" (Cyborg)
"Le regard des gens" Feat. Nemir, 2zer, Mekra & Doums (Cyborg)
"Mauvaise graine" (Cyborg)
"Saturne" Feat. Sneazzy & S.Pri Noir (Cyborg)
BJ The Chicago Kid (Les étoiles vagabondes: expansion)
"Nouvel homme" (Les étoiles vagabondes: expansion)
* The clip for this song is cut off a bit at the beginning. Aside from the first few seconds missing, it's all there!
**Ignore the weird digital whirring sounds at the beginning of the video; if I could've found a better video, I would have y'all... sorry.
***Couldn't find the video for this one on Youtube, so if you have some type of music streaming service, try looking it up on there.
To be completely honest, I listen to so much more French language music by so many different artists, this post would be lacking if I didn't add a few honorable mentions:
Kendji Girac 🇫🇷
"Tiago" (Amigo)
"Pour oublier" (Amigo)
"Maria Maria" (Amigo)
"Habibi" (Mi Vida)
"Dernier métro" Feat. Maître GIMS (Mi Vida)
Arcadian 🇫🇷🇨🇭
"Petit à petit" (Marche ou rêve)
"Carmen" (Arcadian)
Jérémy Frerot 🇫🇷
"Revoir" (Matriochka)
Soprano 🇫🇷
"Mon précieux" (L'Everest [Deluxe Edition])
"À la vie à l'amour" (Phoenix)
Niska 🇫🇷
"Médicament" Feat. Booba (Mr Sal)
Stromae 🇧🇪
"Santé" (Santé - Single)
Sexion d'Assaut 🇫🇷🇨🇩🇸🇳
"Balader" (L'Apogée à Bercy)
Lomepal 🇫🇷
"Yeux Disent" (FLIP)
"La vérité" Feat. Orelsan (Jeannine)
MZ 🇫🇷
"Les princes" Feat. Nekfeu (La dictature)
Et enfin c'est tout! If you got this far, thanks for sticking it through to the end! As I said in my previous music post like this, I'm still looking out for music in Mandarin. So if y'all have some recommendations, please share! And as always, please feel free to engage my posts; I wanna talk and learn from y'all just as y'all (hopefully) learn from me! Until then, I'll be looking forward to going further along my language learning journey!
乾杯 (Gān bēi)! 🥂

Put a little horror in YOUR holidays!
Note: Permanent link availability is NOT GUARANTEED, but this list has been updated as of 2022. Some of these links are for TubiTV--which requires signing up--but it’s totally free, and available as an app for IOS, Android, Xbox Live, and the PlayStation Network).
IMPORTANT: While Christmas-related, these are still horror films. Thus, these films may contain:
Violence
Blood/gore
Jump scares
Nudity
Adult language
Adult situations
Sexual content
Staged/fake harm to animals
As I have not seen all of them, I cannot attest to the quality of each and every one, nor all potentially triggering/upsetting content. However, where I can, I will add warnings for certain situations (such as sexual assault), and I will add one of these four ratings:
🎅👌 = Recommended viewing.
🎁 = Take a look--you may find it enjoyable.
🦃 = A real turkey. Avoid at all costs.
🍻 = So bad, it's actually good. Have the beers ready for spontaneous drinking games.
Additional ratings:
😺👍= No animal death.
If you are unsure of a film, you may wish to look up further information prior to viewing. Here are two resources I use to review content:

Russian jr. test skates - ice dance
I watched only ice dance... and while ladies and men were broadcasted on the official Channel 1 with proper camera work and sound, ice dance was streamed on a semi-official channel with poor camera work... And yeah, maybe it’s one of the reasons why I generally wasn’t very excited about the RDs. But I liked most of the FDs so it’s not that bad ;)
I’d take all the music listed with a grain of salt (or two) it’s what my phone told me after listening to the music ;)
1. Elizaveta Shichina/Gordei Khubulov – Come get in bae / Yellow moon The first “Russian” blues. I wasn’t that excited (but that’s because I would much prefer waltz or tango as the pattern dance), however they were in synch and had a good lift in the RD.  Now that we are talking about a dance! The FD has a spirit from the beginning, nice emo feel, not everything worked out but they really have interesting lifts.
2. Taisia Linchevskaya/Timur Babaev Smirnov – Fire / Don Quijote Ok, now I can calm down. I’ll find a way to like the RD after all. This one was great, energetic beginning, some mistakes but so cool and free. I like it. YESSSS to the FD. That was so lively. Curve lift in sitting position, I love. Also, that pause in the middle of the dance which confuses half of the spectators and they think it’s the end, basically the pause ala Stepanova/Bukin? Yes, we love hehe.
3. Alisa Ovsiankina/Matvei Samokhin – Q & A / Michael Jackson My babies are growing up so fast and they are so much fun to watch! They have such nice lines, at the beginning they had some troubles with the twizzles but at the end they go full out. Also, Matvei has a costume with a hood and at one point he puts in on his head and I just love it! Really, they show so much personality, even in the FD. Again, there were some difficulties with twizzles and Alisa skating under Matvei’s legs but the Michael Jackson character sequence is everything.
4. Margarita Svistunova/Dmitrii Studenikin – I feel like drowning / Iduna This RD is kinda standard, for me doesn’t stand out so far, thought the hip hop parts are fun. And as is the usual pattern, I really liked the FD! Drama, emotional, wistful feel, expressive and great lifts.
5. Olga Mamchenkova/Mark Volkov – Broken people / Für Elise This was a good RD, fun step sequence, good rotational lift.  I also liked the FD, everything is there, even drama (maybe too much).
6. Irina Khavronina/Dario Cirisano – Babylon Berlin / La cumparsita I like the music for the RD, it’s gradually picking up tempo to a great finish.  In the FD they are them; wild, sharp, modern, awesome. Towards the end it gets a bit weird but they’d sell anything.
7. Sofia Kachushkina/Oleg Muratov – Royals by Lorde / Clubbed to Death Here I think that they really show two very different programs which is always a plus. They are also growing up so fast. The RD is niiice, interesting lift, good choreography.
8. Anna Rumak/Gleb Goncharov – Stop it Johnny / Casino, Tango noir They are just so fresh and fun. The RD wasn’t perfect, Anna fell and it also felt a bit too quick but they are showmen and I think it will be such a great program.  I LOVED the FD. I know it’s totally subjective, but I do see a bit of Cappellini/Lanotte feel in them. The FD is so cute. They are the best storytellers there, for sure.
9. Vasilisa Kaganovskaia/Valeriy Angelopol – In the end by Linkin Park / Ave Maria Yes! There was a fall but also nice extensions and they perform and show some emotions. That’s a real rhythm dance! The FD is such a good choice for them. They can do it, they can deliver a mature performance even though they are in juniors. Such a smooth and effortless skating.
10. Sofia Tyutyunina/Alexander Shustitskiy – Do I wanna know? / Babe I’m gonna leave you They are so taaaallll, so suddenly?! Smooth skating, quite interesting moves and choreo in the RD. I don’t know, so far I have no opinion about the FD, I didn’t feel anything so far. (But I really like them so I think it will change with time!)
11. Sofia Leonteva/Daniil Gorelkin – Stay with me / Prelude to caravan They seemed a bit slower to me but I liked the blues pattern dance part.
12. Ekaterina Rybakova/Ivan Makhnonosov – Meant / Samson and Dalila Good RD, really good. Great twizzles at the beginning, wild moves I like it! The FD is also nice. They have interesting lifts there. I like the lifts when the lady is almost standing, the man is just holding her above the ground and spinning.
I’m looking forward to seeing as many ice dancers as possible at JGP. (Really hoping it works out somehow because Russia can’t send skaters to the first two JGPs in Courcheval in France, because France is enforcing a 10-day quarantine for people travelling from Russia...)

Thursday, 30 August 1827 (travel journals)
7 3/4
10 40/60
Breakfast at 9 in the public room – at 10 1/2, 3 guides and as many mules, and off to the Mer de glace –
at 12 stopt to let the mules drink at the Fontaine des Caillés 1/2 way –
at 12 much Rododendron (rose des alpes) what we saw so beautifully in flower –
at 12 1/2 arrived at the pavilion (maison des plaisirs) at the top of Montanvert – several goats about, and a shepherd there all the day – very arduous ascent – formerly one could only go about 2/3 the way on mules – obliged to walk the rest – about 2 years ago the path made up to the Top – Took all the 40 guides 100 days labour – the pavilion a little room where one Takes refreshments, the provisions one takes up, tho’ there are cupboards there full of bread and wine – magnificent mountain scenery – looking Towards the Mer de Glace (in front of us, and on the east side of the Mer) L’aiguille de Bonchard, then ditto de druis, ditto rectes, ditto du Moine (behind which is le jardin, 5 hours ascent from the pavilion and 3 hours to return), then la petite Jorasse, then the grand ditto, then the Tacul, then the aiguille du géant, ditto des Charmots – ditto du Grepon – the behind one is the aiguille du Bletière – all these are the chain of mountains that one sees round the mer de Glace –
off to it from the Pavilion at 12 40/60 – went above 200 Toises (about 1/4 mile English upon the ice – no idea it was great an Exertion – the iron heels of my boots very slippery – I could scarce keep foot-hold at all in ascending and descending the very steep parts – the mer de Glace Extends 12 lieues in length – consideringly less in breadth just under the pavilion within these 4 years – the large blocks of granite one sees now left bare at the margin called in the country patois moraines – brought away a small piece – called the mer de Glace down to about as far as the Chapeau, a very little knoll with a few (7 or 8) larches upon it, which we afterwards saw in descending le chemin de la figlia down upon the source of the Arveron – called the glacier des bois from where the ice becomes more level, which descends almost close upon the village des bois – gained ground upon it till within this last year or 2 – (but is now losing ground and becoming smaller – one can get very easily to the Chapeau to look down upon the mer de glace) but must there cross it to get to Montanvert – the crystals are found 7 lieues from Montanvert at the very foot of the needles – dangerous going there on account of the stones that fall from the needles – l’aiguille de Druis the finest in the whole chain of alps – One ought to go to the top of Mont Breven (4 hours to ascend and 3 to descend) for the finest view of mont Blanc –
In returning from the mer de Glace at 1 18/60 sat a little while on the Pierre des Anglais, – and then ascended by a longer but much less steep path then we had descended – a Frenchman and his wife and little boy who had breakfasted this morning at one of the Table d’hôte while we breakfasted at the other were dining or eating their provision at the pavilion – we had ours (I took very little) and we all became very cozy – They were going down to the source of the Arveron – we went too – the man at the pavilion was very well satisfied with a franc each of the 2 parties –
off at 2 35/60 – not time to send our mules round – they went down before us – very steep – much worse than the way we had come – quite impossible to go it on mules – wonder how the animals could get down – 1 of the guides led one and the other 2 followed – 1/2 down heard the thunderous fall of an avalanche –
at the bottom of this Chemin de la Montagne de la figlia at 4 10/60 – the fine cascade from the glacier des bois forming the source of the Arveron we had seen almost as well en montant this morning – the fine vault there was under the ice in the month of July now quite destroyed by the heat of the summer – sauntered about admiring the fine view of the Aiguille de Druis, and then down the valley to Prieuré – we found the French man sketching the mer de Glace – we left him sketching along the Arveron, crossed the broad bed of Debris to the other side the valley and set off home at 4 10/60 – I was very hot, so had my mule led, and walked to the end of Prieuré where I mounted merely for the sake of riding up to the Inn where we alighted at 5 1/4 –
Mrs B– [Barlow] foot sore from descending the Chemin de la figlia, and both she and Miss B– [Barlow] very much fatigued – I not fatigued at all – in mounting this morning rode à la califourchon up the roughest and steepest ascents and thus saved both myself and mule Exceedingly –
spoke to my guide seriously about my liking to ascend Mont Blanc next year – too late this year – there had been fresh snow – danger of avalanches – Jane’s guide brother to 1 of the 3 guides who perished 6 years ago – the guides (9 of them) were unwilling to go – knew the danger but Dr. Hamel (a Russian gentleman with him) would go – an avalanche swept them all away, but the 3 guides that were 1st were hurled into a crevasse, and never heard of more – the rest of the party then returned, not having much more than 1/2 way to the top – 1 of the guides that perished was particularly averse to go – he had been up 11 times before – but Dr. H– Hamel persisted – they discovered a new path about a year ago, by which the danger from avalanches is mainly avoided – the danger now is from ‘fausses ponts’, crevasses covered over with snow – these on the glacier beyond the grand mulet – they go all tied together by cords, that if anyone falls in they can pull him out – July the best month this, and perhaps the beginning of August the only time – but one should not go after the fall of fresh snow – 6 guides for 1 person – 9 Ditto for 2 persons – 90/. per guide, and feed them, but 100/. per guide will pay all – ladders, keep, tout compris - 3 days work – I must sleep 1 night under the rock of the grand mulet – The father of Mrs B–‘s [Barlow’s] guide was 1 of the 17 guides with Saussure – (slept 3 nights on the summit and 14 on the grand mulet), and by sleeping in the cold got a rheumatism he never cast, and was never able to walk much afterwards – for some time before he died (only a year ago) could not move a limb in bed – no stranger lady has ever been at the top – but a woman from this valley has – the 1st man who went up (from this valley) went up by himself and was 2 nights at the top by himself – not long before Saussure went up –
to make the Tour of the Alps hereabouts would take one 14 or 15 days – long to steal away next summer and do it –
Last night very cold – hard frost – had spoilt all the potatoes that were just beginning to do well after the rain – great loss to the people – grow corn enough except for finer white bread, and this comes from Salanches and Bonneville – Have no mares (so do not breed mules) buy them young at Salanches – mine cost £15, Jane’s £17. Mrs B–‘s [Barlow’s] £20 – no cretins here – very fast goitres – the valley very healthy – shed the junction of the Arve and Arveron – both streams milky from the white sand (decomposed granite fine as dust, – quite white) brought down from the mountains – huge masses of granite (moraines) near the cascade – granite boulder and debris spread widely over the valley –
Dinner (table d’hôte) from 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 – between 20 and 30 people? – all very respectable looking – did not speak to any of them – came upstairs to write – very fine day –
40 guides. each one pays (on being enrolled) 400 to the Chief guide pour son traitement (for his maintenance – he never leaves his bureau), and afterwards 5 sols for every course or job which goes or is to go towards a general fund for the relief of infirm guides – may be serving guide till 60 – 1st and 2nd class of guides – but all paid the same – only that of the most intelligent a certain no. [number] are called the 1st class – 24 porters these too divided into 1st and 2nd class – rank below the guides, but whenever a guide’s place is vacant, Tis filled up from among the porters – a lady and gentleman carried over the tête noir this morning to Martigny – 6 porters per person –

It for the most part incorporates or is focused on the assumed impacts or repercussions of PCs or machines; travel through space, time or imaginary worlds; outsider living things; hereditary designing; or other such things. The science or innovation utilized may or probably won’t be completely explained on; stories whose logical components are sensibly point by point, well-informed and viewed as generally conceivable given current information and innovation are regularly known as hard sci-fi. Writing that objectives posses, criminal associations that give a degree of association, and assets that help a lot bigger and more specialized criminal exchanges than an individual criminal could accomplish. Criminals will be the subject of a few motion pictures, especially from the period somewhere in the range of 1930 and 1960. A restoration of criminal sort films happened since the 1990s with the blast of hip-jump culture. Dissimilar to the sooner hoodlum films, the more current movies share comparative components to the more established movies yet is more in a hip-bounce metropolitan setting. An experience story is around a hero who excursions to epic or removed spots to perform something. It could have a considerable number of other classification factors included inside it, since it is an open type. The hero incorporates a mission and faces hindrances to get to their objective. Additionally, experience stories as a rule incorporate obscure settings and characters with valued properties or highlights. At first proposed as a classification by the makers of the pretending game Children of daylight, dieselpunk alludes to fiction propelled by mid-century mash stories, predicated on the style of the interbellum period through World War II (c. 1920–45). Like steampunk however especially observed as a the ascent of oil power and technocratic discernment, fusing neo-noir factors and sharing subjects more clearly with cyberpunk than steampunk. Despite the fact that the striking quality of dieselpunk as a classification isn’t totally uncontested, portions which range from the retro-advanced film Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow to the 2001 Activision computer game Return to Castle Wolfenstein have been recommended as quintessential dieselpunk works of fiction. A style when an entertainer acts before a live crowd, talking straightforwardly to them. The entertainer is generally alluded to as a comic, professional comedian, professional comic or simply a hold up. In stand-up parody the entertainer ordinarily discusses a relentless progression of amusing stories, short jokes called “pieces”, and jokes, which comprise what’s regularly called a discourse, routine or act. Some professional comics use props, music or sorcery stunts to improve their demonstrations. Stand-up satire is regularly acted in parody clubs, bars, neo-vaudevilles, schools, and theaters. Outside of live execution, stand-up is typically circulated monetarily by means of TV, DVD, and the web. like customary activity; instead of utilizing hand drawn pictures, stop movement films are made with little puppets or different articles which have their image taken regularly over a grouping of little developments to make liveliness outlines. Models are The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, and Corpse Bride. 🔮 COPYRIGHT CONTENT 🔮 Copyright is a type of intellectual property that gives its owner the exclusive right to make copies of a creative work, usually for a limited time.[1][2][3][4][5] The creative work may be in a literary, artistic, educational, or musical form. Copyright is intended to protect the original expression of an idea in the form of a creative work, but not the idea itsDemon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train.[6][7][8] A copyright is subject to limitations based on public interest considerations, such as the fair use doctrine in the United States. Some jurisdictions require “fixing” copyrighted works in a tangible form. It is often shared among multiple authors, each of whom holds a set of rights to use or license the work, and who are commonly referred to as rights holders.[citation needed][9][10][11][12] These rights frequently include reproduction, control over derivative works, distribution, public performance, and moral rights such as attribution.[13] Copyrights can be granted by public law and are in that case considered “territorial rights”. This means that copyrights granted by the law of a certain state, do not extend beyond the territory of that specific jurisdiction. Copyrights of this type vary by country; many countries, and sometimes a large group of countries, have made agreements with other countries on procedures applicable when works “cross” national borders or national rights are inconsistent.[14] Typically, the public law duration of a copyright expires 50 to 100 years after the creator dies, depending on the jurisdiction. Some countries require certain copyright formalities[5] to establishing copyright, others recognize copyright in any completed work, without a formal registration. It is widely believed that copyrights are a must to foster cultural diversity and creativity. However, Parc argues that contrary to prevailing beliefs, imitation and copying do not restrict cultural creativity or diversity but in fact support them further. This argument has been supported by many examples such as Millet and Van Gogh, Picasso, Manet, and Monet, etc.[15] 🔮 ADAPTATION 🔮 Sarah Paulson is my top choice, yet this film isn’t her best. I trusted that months for this will come out and I’m left asking why I was so energized. The trailer parted with everything. You knew the entire story before it even began. There was practically zero character improvement and everything just felt like it was 0–100 with no pacing at all. Likewise, the cosmetics office for Sarah’s last look-the hellfire would you say you were folks on when you thought of this? I really snickered when I saw her. It was an alright film. One that you’d be pissed on the off chance that you burned through cash on. Nothing new, normal, worn out acting. Additionally, no one realizes the proper behavior an asthma assault. This film had so many plot openings that it seemed like a parody. The mother can simply take an infant from the clinic? She harms her little girl for quite a long time and no specialist actually sees this during her regular visits? How did she manage the postal carrier’s vehicle? No one minded the postal carrier was absent? For what reason did the girl never get one of the numerous sharp or gruff articles around her and hit her mother? The mother leaves all her significant reports in a container sitting out and marked? For what reason would she tie up her girl’s wheel seat and not her girl? This is the means by which the entire film goes. The main redeemable nature of the film was Sarah Paulson’s very frightening acting. Likewise, this story has been done so often. I would not burn through my time watching this. Run is unsurprising and not extraordinary. The acting is phenomenal, while the story is fair. The story makes a magnificent showing of being exciting, yet it chiefly doesn’t go anyplace. I knew all that planned to happen despite the fact that I knew nothing. Nonetheless, There was one scene I appreciated where Clare says, “you need me.” The acting was only exceptional in that particular scene. In general, it’s a one time watch that you’ll most likely fail to remember. This is another film on Hulu by Aneesh Chaganty (and co-composed by Sev Ohanian), following up their realistic presentation Searching (2018) with a spine chiller including a mother and her 17-year-old little girl brought into the world with a few confusions (arrhythmia, hemochromatosis, asthma, diabetes, and most effectively loss of motion). I will say that it’s conceivable this film is superior to I preferred it, yet in the event that so it would be for its coordinating and acting, and less so about the composition. I felt like there were openings all over the place, and maybe an excess of is tossed at us too early for us to appropriately think about the characters and their circumstance. This sort of film has been done previously, absent a lot of new added to the table short the wheelchair perspective. There were a ton of components set up for what might have given a more grounded finishing conveyance and punch, yet the greater part of those beats were one-note and spent prior in the film as opposed to associating a solid inward weaving as Searching had the option to do. I went in visually impaired, and it’s possible better that I did given that the trailer is fairly uncovering. I don’t think it had a sufficiently high roof in any case to overshadow any wild absence of desires I previously had. My solitary desire was in the possession of the makers, and the most saving grace this film will probably have on crowds is I expectation they become mindful of Searching and see it sooner or later… which is the thing that I expectation the greater part of all of you can detract from this. That was my #1 film of 2018, and Run will tumble to the wayside as fairly convincing yet totally forgettable. The story and pre-assembled relationship just needed more squeeze once the credits rolled. This film was average, best case scenario. Try not to accept individuals giving it 8 or 9. The plot has been seen ordinarily, it was excessively unreasonable, and the closure failed. They attempted to showcase it as a loathsomeness/spine chiller however nothing about it is exciting. It’s a dramatization completely. I will say however, the entertainers did astounding with what they were given. Sarah Paulson was her standard sDemon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train, great, not honor commendable. Be that as it may, Kiera Allen truly captured everyone’s attention. She made the film (which delayed for what seemed like 2 hours) watchable. In the event that you appreciated The Act or have nothing else to watch, give it a go. What’s the point of messing with this poop. It resembles a low lease endeavor at a spine chiller yet you definitely know the closure. The faltering endeavors at tension are more irritating than anything. It’s a terrible lifetime film to be straightforward. Furthermore, I like lifetime motion pictures! It’s additionally excessively coordinated, the music is exhausted and the acting isn’t incredible

Ribbons of Scarlet: A predictably terrible novel on the French Revolution (part 3)
Parts 1, 2, 4 and 5.
Style Issues
Stylistically, there’s a great deal of “tell don’t show” in this book, especially as regards the actual politics. The only things that are really concrete are the characters’ romantic entanglements and scenes of violence. This is a flaw that runs so deep that correcting it would mean writing a completely different book.
One thing that they could have done that would have made it somewhat more bearable, however, regards the use of language. In a book written in English but that takes place in France and where all the characters are French, please, I’m begging you, do not randomly (and often ungrammatically) insert whichever French words and phrases you half-remember from high school French class into descriptions and dialogue. It doesn’t give the characters a flavor of being French, it gives you a flavor of ignorance.
The key word here is “randomly”: note that I’m not talking about things like terms of address, exclamations, etc., for which there is an established convention, or terms for which there might not be an exact equivalent in English. No, I’m talking about this kind of thing: “[…] running a hand through his short-cropped noir hair” (p. 352). Please, resist the urge!
Also, this isn’t strictly a style issue, as the grammar is the least of the problems with it, but I don’t really know where else to put it... Each of the six parts opens with an epigraph. Here’s the one for Émilie de Sainte-Amaranthe’s (p. 437) :
“It was a sensual delight for l’homme rouge to see fall in the basket these charming heads and their ruby blood streaming under the hideous cleaver.”
—Archives Nationale [sic]
I can’t believe I have to say this to a fellow historian, but just saying a quote is from the archives is bizarrely and baffling amateurish. It’s like saying a quote is from the library, or from a book or from the internet. Without further information, it’s about as useful a citation as saying it came to you in a dream. Why? Because it tells us nothing about the author or the date or any kind of context and therefore gives us no real way of evaluating it — though the lurid, sensationalist language doesn’t inspire confidence. Since the author of this section more than any other seems to take as a principle of novel-writing that whatever is the most over-the-top makes for the best fiction, I would say sure, why not, but as the authors also apparently want their depiction of “history” to be taken seriously… I mean, what is there to even say?
Writing What You Want to Know
There’s a problem throughout this book with characters talking about 18th France like it’s a place they’ve only read about in books rather than the only place they’ve ever lived and therefore the only reality *they* know firsthand. Now, obviously, the authors, like the rest of us, *have* only read about a 200+ year-old setting in books (or come to know it through various types of primary sources), but good historical fiction should be able to make you forget that, or at least come close.
I can’t entirely decide whether we’re looking at a failure of research here or of imagination — or just clumsy handling of exposition. I suspect it’s some mixture of all three.
Allow me to explain. The clumsy exposition is a result of the aforementioned lack of trust in the reader as well, I suspect, of the few pages allotted to each author, which don’t allow for a more natural immersion of the reader into a world that is entirely alien to them but is made up of both new and familiar elements to the characters.
The research vs imagination issue is more complex. I’m a firm believer in the updated adage “write what you want to know,” but if you’re going to do that, the intermediate step between wanting and writing is inevitably research. And well, there’s research and there’s research. For a novel especially, you don’t just want to be researching what happened, the concrete material facts such as who was present for what event or what a given figure’s relationship was to the people around them, but also people’s mentalities/sensibilities. To plausibly write from their point of view, you also have to investigate the reasons they might have believed what they believed and to take that investigation seriously, whether or not you agree.
This was achieved better with some characters than others and again, I’m not entirely sure whether it’s for lack of research or lack of ability to empathize with certain points of view. Ironically, the chapter on Mme Élisabeth is probably the best handled. The author of that section says she wanted to be “fair” (back matter, p. 12) to her subject and I think she succeeds better than her co-authors, while showing that Mme Élisabeth, convinced of the absolute validity of the divine right of her brother, advocates at every turn for violently repressing the Revolution. She’s allowed to articulate her (frankly pretty abhorrent) beliefs in a plausible manner.
Perhaps the author of this section is just a better writer than her co-authors, but I think there’s more to it than that. I obviously can’t read minds, but from the text of the novel itself as well as from the authors’ notes, I get the impression that we’re dealing with a dual problem of epistemology (i.e. how do you know what you know?) and politics. In either case, it’s not a coincidence if Mme Élisabeth is the best drawn character… and Reine Audu and Pauline Léon are the worst.
First, on the epistemology side: whether consciously or not, it seems to me as if the authors largely started out with the assumption that they already basically understood their protagonists. Sophie de Grouchy is so ahead of her time she might as well be a modern woman, got it, no problem… Reine Audu is an avatar of the “mob,” (the author of her section’s words, not mine, back matter, p. 8), pitiable because of her poverty but with no real politics beyond that of hunger and resentment… Pauline Léon is a “well-intentioned extremist” to use TV Tropes parlance — you would think that label would apply better to Charlotte Corday, but the latter ends up being so saintly she basically converts Pauline Léon (in what is quite possibly the most maddening moment in the whole damn book)… and so on. If I’m right, the authors’ assumptions about these archetypes made them not really feel the need to dig too deeply into the question of what made these women tick, either through research or empathy.
We don’t know much about Reine Audu or Pauline Léon, but there has been a fair amount of research into the beliefs of the popular movement and revolutionary crowds from Georges Lefebvre onward (most of it tending to dispel the lazy stereotypes on display here). The authors either didn’t bother with it or made poor use of it (as is evidently the case with poor Dominique Godineau, who does figure in the bibliography).
The book does Pauline Léon a disservice on both sides, mischaracterizing her beliefs for good and for ill. They make feminism as a contemporary audience would understand it her primary cause and her support for the rest of the popular movement’s program (in which we learn that women and people of color are to be included, but not actually what it consists of...) accessory and easily disposable so Charlotte Corday can be proved right and “radical” men can prove to be the real enemy.
(Which… I could roll with it if the idea was just that men of all political flavors can be misogynists, but as usual, the message is all men are potential rapists (except Condorcet, Buzot, La Fayette and Louis XVI, of course) but the further left they are the rape-ier they get. That’s not how that works.)
Anyway, the point is, these are characters the authors seem to have gone in assuming they understood, either because they found them relatable or because they thought they knew what archetype they corresponded to. The author of the section on Mme Élisabeth, on the other hand, writes that this was a character that it took some effort to understand because the character’s worldview was so different from the author’s and that of her presumed readers. This was also the case to some degree with the author of Manon Roland’s section, who writes about having to grapple with her protagonist’s not being a feminist (a position that this author bizarrely seems to think was rare at the time). Regardless, in both cases, the effort to understand, along with the existence of more sources produced by the character they were attempting to inhabit, produced better results.
But again, I think there’s also a political element. Remember how I mentioned that this book’s main flaw is its feeling of artificiality? (I mean, to the point that the rest of this critique is really just about understanding why it feels so artificial.) One of the moments that felt the most authentic to me was Mme Élisabeth’s extravagant shoe-buying habit, her feeling bad about it and her confessor reassuring her that it’s fine because she hasn’t taken a vow of poverty, after all. And I don’t mean ‘authentic’ necessarily in the sense of ‘historically accurate’ — I don’t know enough about Mme Élisabeth off the top of my head to comment on her shoe collection. But I did think: there, consumerism and guilt about consumerism are in fact much more relatable to the middle class authors and their presumed middle class audience than hunger and privation — or activism relating to socio-economic issues, for that matter. Which is how we end up, here as in a lot of other media, with a relatable royal and revolutionary caricatures.
This is also a good demonstration of how research and imagination or empathy play off each other. Marge Piercy didn’t have more information about Pauline Léon than the authors of this book. In fact, she had less: she writes in the preface of her book that she learned that Léon’s mother was in fact still alive at the time of the Revolution when it was too late to change what she had written. Credit where credit is due, once again, this new book corrects that error.
But in every other respect, Piercy’s version is far superior, because Pauline Léon’s views as well as her experience are taken seriously. This is no doubt due in large part because Piercy herself has been an activist for various left-wing causes. Her activism surely allowed her to relate to her characters, but far from writing a simple projection from her own experience, it allowed her, just as importantly, to entertain the notion that there was something there to be taken seriously. And therefore, that it was worth researching what precisely these figures were fighting for and not simply the question of why people get caught up in “extremism.” That’s why Pauline Léon and Claire Lacombe’s chapters are the best in City of Darkness, City of Light, while Pauline Léon and Reine Audu’s are the worst in this book.
Next time: inaccuracies big and small!

Intouchables.

🔮 THE STORY 🔮 Sci-fi is like dream, aside from stories in this classification utilize logical arrangement to explain the universe that it requires place in. Writing that objectives posses, criminal associations that give a degree of association, and assets that help a lot bigger and more specialized criminal exchanges than an individual criminal could accomplish. A restoration of criminal sort films happened since the 1990s with the blast of hip-jump culture. What’s the point of messing with this poop. It resembles a low lease endeavor at a spine chiller yet you definitely know the closure. ML fic: A Kiss to Remember: Part 3
(Part 1) (Part 2)
_______________________________________________________________________
Ladybug had landed on her balcony, making sure no one saw her as she slipped through the hatch to her bedroom. She quietly closed the hatch and transformed back into her civilian self.
Marinette went over and laid down face first on her bed. She screamed into her pillow.
The red Kwami that popped out of her earrings watched with an emotionless stare as the bluish black haired designer vented her emotions.
“Why did I let that stupid cat talk me into that? “ She vented. “Why did I let myself get so annoyed with all of the gossip anyway? This is the worst! Now Chat noir is hurt from this whole exchange and I can't help him feel better because its my fault he is like this.”
Marinette was expecting her Kwami companion to say something. Usually Tikki would comment on how she was overreacting, or how she could have handled the situation better. But the ladybug Kwami was completely silent.
Marinette looked up to see her kwami floating to her desk. She took a macaroon and began nibbling on the food in silence.
“Tikki...” Marinette spoke her voice soft and hurt.
Tikki stopped eating. She turned to look at Marinette.
“Are you sorry you broke his heart Or are you sorry you lied?” Tikki’s question hit her with the force of a boot to the gut.
“I am in love with another guy. I told him the truth.” Marinette answered.
“That wasn't the question he asked.” Tikki shot back. “You and I both know that.”
Marinette looked at her.
“I didn't want to give him any false hope. Why tell him that there was a small, minuscule, very nearly impossible chance?” Marinette exclaimed.
“Because its the truth! You hate Lila’s lies because they are hurtful and selfish. This is a prime example of a Lie that is mean and hurtful.” Tikki answered.
“I was doing it to help him! Why would me telling him that there might be a small chance that I could return his feelings be any different then giving him false hope? It would be selfish to string him along on a notion of false hope.” The designer fired back.
“Just like how it would be selfish to lie to him just to stop annoying gossip.”
Tikki’s stare felt like it could put a hole through Marinette’s head. But Marinette wasn't backing down.
Tikki’s expression softened.
“I know how irritating it was for you to hear this talk about Ladybug and Chat noir. I know you are in love with Adrien. But I also know deep down, there is a part of you that has thought of Chat noir in that way. Maybe not recently with how childish he had been, but you know he is trying and I know you felt it in that kiss.”
Marinette felt her resolve shake for a brief moment with the Kwami’s words but she still felt that she made the right decision.
“It still wouldn't justify leading Chat noir on like that.”
“What if this was you asking Adrien about having a chance at a relationship? Would Adrien telling you that the chance of a relationship with him being small but not impossible, dissuade your feelings? Would you honestly consider that him leading you on?” Tikki inquired.
“What about when Adrien asked me for advice about Kagami? I stood aside then and tried to let Adrien be happy.” Marinette answered.
“So you have not pursued Adrien at all since then?” Tikki inquired.
Marinette’s look showed a pained expression which made tikki regret her words. The Kwami flew over and hugged her.
“I am sorry Marinette. I am not trying to sound mean or make you out to be the bad guy, but I just don't think this was handled right. I know you do believe that you are making the right call with this. But it seems like every time you lie regarding your feelings it always backfires. I just don't want this blowing up in your face.” Tikki answered
Marinette’s expression changed as she returned the hug. She knew Tikki was looking out for her.
“I understand what your saying. I admit that some of my reasoning may have been out of frustration, but I do believe that this is for the best. Chat noir being able to move on will cut all of the drama and save so much heartache later on. If this did turn out to be a mistake, I will rectify it. But I am sure that that this was the right decision after my mistake of kissing the cat. But I do wish I didn't need to hurt his feelings to do it. But it is either a now or later situation.” Marinette explained calmly.
“Very well, I won't mention any more about it. You should get some rest.” Tikki accepted.
Tikki floated back to her cookie. Tikki knew that if Marinette knew what she knew, this would be a very different conversation, But the red kwami understood that it was her job to advise her chosen but she also knew Marinette needed to make her own decisions, perhaps this was for the best. Love always finds a way.
Marinette changed into her pajamas before going to bed, trying her best not to think about what happened.
_______________________________________________________________________
Marinette didn't sleep a wink.
She kept thinking about Chat noir. Tikki had made her doubt her decision, and made her worried that her partner might be on the receiving end of an akumatization.
She managed to drag herself to school where she slumped into her seat, where her best friend seemed to be glowing.
“I got a note from Chat noir. He has an announcement that he wants to do live tonight on my blog.” The blogger whispered with excitement.
Marinette sat up after hearing this.
“An announcement? What would chat noir...” Marinette sheepishly asked before remembering the other part of her deal with chat noir. She ceased speaking, thankfully Alya was more then willing to talk.
“He didn't give any specifics but he did mention that it was important and revolved around his relationship with Ladybug. This is gonna be the biggest scoop since the kiss from Last week.”
“Yea... I can't wait.” Marinette spoke with a tired fake enthusiasm which her bff failed to notice due to her own excitement.
The late bell rang just as a blond model walked into the classroom.
“You are running late Adrien.” Ms.bustier mentioned.
“Sorry... I had trouble getting up this morning.” Adrien admitted.
The young teacher sighed with her trademark smile still on her face.
“Just be sure to get more sleep tonight.”
“I will try.”
The exhausted teen moved to his seat. He was clearly just as exhausted as the designer. His eyes were slightly puffy, his clothes were a tad wrinkled, even his hair was a touch messier then normal. Even models seem to have bad mornings.
“You alright dude... you seem out of it.” His DJ best friend asked as ensured the teacher was focusing on teaching before asking the question.
“Just didn't sleep well, lot on my mind....” Adrien answered in a near emotionless tone, unknown to everyone else, he was doing his best not to have a break down.
Despite the absolute destruction of his heart that felt like the equivalent to taking a cataclysm to the chest, he managed not to burst into tears. He managed to keep himself contained. It was one of the few things that he had learned when dealing with his father. He couldn't sleep, he kept thinking about the rejection. It was heart shattering, but if he felt his emotions get close to akumatizable levels of sorrow, he thought about the kiss. The sweet melancholy of the kiss he had with Ladybug was the last thing keeping him from being an emotional wreck.
Sure enough, day came and showed the blond that the world wasn't ending over his heart break.
He was hoping class would last as long as possible, as he did not look forward to what he had to do later today.
_______________________________________________________________________
The day seemed to blur together for Marinette as she made it back to her room.
Alya had told her the live stream would start at 4 on the dot. She didn't know what compelled her to turn on the channel. Tikki was off in the corner, as if refusing to watch the events that were about to unfold. Marinette had turned it on a few minutes after four.
“I must say it is a pleasure to have you on the stream chat noir. Is there a chance Ladybug will be joining us?” The blogger asked with an excited smile.
Chat noir’s cheshire grin looked a bit forced but only those who knew him would be able to tell.
“It is nice talking with my favorite blogger. Sadly it will just be me today.” Chat noir bantered.
“I am sure the viewers tuning in don't mind at all. But enough banter, you wanted to schedule this stream because you have an important announcement.” Alya answered as she moved to the main event.
Chat noir cleared his throat and his grin shrank a bit.
“My La... Ladybug and I have been the talk of Paris for the last week. Not that I don't get why, we are pretty awesome.” He joked.
“I think its because of that kiss on the rooftop that has the city of love abuzz.” Alya chimed in.
“It is a nice picture. I was happy to see it for a bit.” Chat noir admitted. “But that isn't accurate to our relationship.”
Marinette’s eyes widened as she heard the cat’s words. Her eyes glued to the stream.
Alya’s smile faded.
“Wait what?”
Chat noir’s expression was now much more stoic and the mood of the live stream shifted.
“Ladybug and I, we are close. We are a crime fighting duo and she is someone I know I can count on. We aren't a couple, never have been,... never will be.”
Marinette felt as if her heart got stabbed as he said that. It felt as if she heard the remnants of his heart shatter when he said that last part.
“Are you sure on that? You always said that...”
“A relationship is a two way street.” Chat noir interrupted. “I can't keep pushing for one if Ladybug doesn't see me that way. It’s a hard fact to swallow, but thats how it is.”
Alya was stunned by the black cat hero’s statements, this was definitely not how she was expecting the show to go.
“None of you should fault Ladybug for this. I know how passionate some of you are about my pursuit of her. I will not accept any badmouthing or any harmful actions against her.” Chat noir stood up sternly. “If you have a problem with this then you can bring it up with me.”
Alya’s mind was flooded with questions.
“Wait hold on. What even brought this about? Did something happen between you and Ladybug? Was their a fight?” Alya asked each question as fast as she could.
“That is all I wanted to say. Our partnership will not be impeded by this, and I hope you will all understand.” Chat noir finished, ignoring the bloggers rapid fire questions. He simply moved away from the stream, where Alya tried to gather her thoughts
Marinette turned off the stream.
She had made the right decision, this was better for everyone in Paris.
But the only question in her mind was, why were there tears in her eyes?

There is magic in this world, Felix knows. Magic in the way dreams find him and connect him to a realm he's not supposed to tread. Magic in the way that memories are powerful and goddesses of the sea give him tasks to stitch his family back together. Magic, magic, magic—  in the way he wears a ring around his neck that vibrates for the first time he’s awake.
And he sees that same goddess, the Siren Mother, flitter between people on a sidewalk in Paris. A stream of sunshine here, a flash of light there, and Felix doesn’t realize he’s running towards whatever lay at the destination until he gets to water’s edge.
It’s the middle of the day, but the world is swept grey as time freezes once again and she walks upon La Seine, her footsteps creating perfect circular ripples on the lapping waves. It’s like he’s a little boy again in a dream he can’t forget, but he’s twenty and awake and the world is sleeping.
He’s here, her voice says. My son’s here and it’s time, Felix.
She turns and looks at look at him then, her smile less dazzling and more brittle as she swallows a thought from forming. Gorgeous green eyes glance at the water under her feet before she brings them up to stare at him again. With one hand she points to the water below, and with the other she creates another perfect circle with her forefinger and thumb, brings it up to her eye like a monocle. Felix blinks as he tries to understand, wondering what she’s doing, but—
She’s gone before he can even ask.
The world around him starts moving again, people chattering along the path as Felix grips the handrails. The ring on his chest vibrates, the silver of it glistening and he replays the motion of watching the Siren Mother lifting the circle to her eye as he does the same.
The world has magic, Felix knows, he has to know and has to believe because nothing else would make sense when he brings the band up to peer through, and there, popping through the river’s water is familiar blond hair that soaks up the sun. His heart lurches; he drops the ring and chain, and the view of the boy in water goes away.
“It’s him,” he whispers. “It’s him.” His heart thuds as he doesn’t think and scales the rail toward the rock by the river’s edge.
Behind him, someone makes a comment, but he doesn’t care as he hops over rocks underneath the bridge and waits. Everything is happening so fast as magic and dreams catch up with reality and Felix just wants to bring his family together, but how, he wonders, but how?
“A little help, Plagg, would be nice,” he grumbles.
The black cat doesn’t appear.
Sighing, Felix thinks of the ring that hangs around his neck, and an idea forms as his hands fly to the back of his neck to undo the chain. The ring slides easily down the links and lands squarely in his palm. With a gulp, he tries not to think when he places it on his middle finger on his other hand and waits.
But nothing happens.
So he waits.
Because magic takes time, he knows. Magic is not  an instant thing, it can’t be rushed when done right. A little being forms, the outline similar to Plagg, but not all the way, as he doesn’t fully materialize.
“You’re not supposed to wear the ring, kiddo,” Plagg laughs. The green of his eyes peeks through his shadowy form, a toothy smirk fuzzy at the edges.
“I know,” Felix says simply. “But I, uh, don’t know what to do.”
Plagg laughs again and flicks him on the nose. “Humans think they’re so logical until they encounter something unknown. I was wondering when you were going to ask for help though.”
The human in question rolls his eyes and crosses his arms. “Now, apparently,” he huffs. “What do I need to do? What’s going to happen when he wears the ring?”
Plagg hums for a moment before saying, “Not sure. I just have to uphold my end of the promise and make this kid my next charge. Just gotta wing it, I guess.” As an afterthought he adds, “Better take the ring off now if I were you, I’ve been holding off starting the contract and I don’t think I can fend off fate for much longer if you keep wearing it. Just get the brat to pop up and grab hold of him. You know how those fish folks like to sing—”
The last of Plagg’s words disappear in a trail of echoes as Felix removes the ring. A part of him wants to jam it back on his finger, to find out exactly what the little god meant. But he knows better. It is as Plagg said. He can’t wear the ring. He’s not meant to be the Black Cat.
The back of his neck prickles. Looking over his shoulder, there are eyes peering at him, wondering what he’s going to do next. His heart pounds hard in his chest, a dance of the unknown and he’s not sure of the step sequence. Prying eyes don’t matter when there is chance before him, so Felix ignores them and makes his way further under the bridge.
He walks alongside the water, caught in the surrealist movement that divides him and his cousin. An invisible sheet of glass is between land and river, a screen that Felix feels like he’s looking past and that nothing right now is real. If he reaches through the glass and allows his hand to hang above the water, well, he is one step away from making this all real.
There is magic in the world, Felix knows, he knows it from the top of his head to the tips of his toes. He knows it when he sees a bag of rocks sitting at the water’s edge, and he knows it when a siren sound springs from his lips. A slightly held hum at the back of his throat before dropping down to his chest. A sound he hasn’t—couldn’t sing for years and yet—
—and yet, he calls to his cousin, the stones crashing into the water, creating sound waves in the murky depths.
-
There is magic in the world, Adrien knows. It leads him to Paris and leads him to The One Who Rises. There is magic in the world that fills up the hole in his heart that his mother left behind and gives him something greater.
Love, he remembers his mother saying, is the most powerful magic of all. It’s what brought his human father to the ocean, a force that refused to die by a siren’s song. Love is splendid and fruitful with The Counterclockwise Current of the Adriatic Sea That Brings Clean Water East being the result.
He has the love of his sisters, of his mother, of Marinette—and Adrien’s world is filled to the brim with a rainbow that used to arch overhead after a hurricane. Red slips into orange, then shifts into yellow. Stacked upon that is green which filters into blue. The moment sinks into indigo and lastly, rests with violet.
He hums to himself at the bottom of the river, resigning to the facts that the pollution isn’t so bad if he doesn’t think about it. He has enough of his own magic stored from his sisters to filter the water, thankfully, but that’s the most of his ability. He does bring clean water, after all.
But more so, there is pleasure radiating under his skin, down each knot of his spine to the end of his tail. The One Who Rises kissed him so passionately that he feels like he’ll bleed his whole essence into the water with bliss. Maybe siren sisters and siren mothers are meant to eat the hearts of men, but mermen, Adrien concludes, are meant to kiss lovely women.
He sighs again, little bubbles tickling his nose as they drift to the world above him. He could spend lifetimes kissing Marinette, feeling the blood thrum under his hands, breathe air forever if it meant breathing her. Her cheeks fitted so perfectly in his hands, as if she is a puzzle piece he didn’t realize has been missing. Her every emotion and very soul, vivid and bright, has been more than enough to tell him that she is most beautiful creature of all.
But magic is a funny thing, and more of a trickster than a saint when he hears his name sung from the world above in tone he doesn’t recall, but stirs something deep within in soul.
The bag of rocks crash through the waves and sink into the water, the sound of his name echoing to him below and in this moment, his stomach clenches as everything feels as if it is going to change. A part Adrien knows he shouldn’t go forward, shouldn’t swim up to see who is calling him, but that voice that sounds like him, that person who sings with such mourning and fear—
—to him, it feels like a lost friend.
The hairs on his arms stick up, tense and resistant, but his heart knows that whoever is above him won’t hurt him. He swallows though before he breaks the surface, feeling the phantom push of his mother’s hand between his shoulder blades, swearing just for a second he can see her golden hair.
Breaking through the surface, he knows there is no going back, can feel how something is wrong as his sense of sight comes back to him fully. No more magic when he can plainly see a young man with green eyes and blond hair like his. There’s an echo of familiarity in his face, the man’s mouth downturned, but not unfriendly.
The man sings his name again, a slightly held hum at the back of his throat before dropping down to his chest, and extends his hand for Adrien to grab. Automatically, without thought, Adrien reaches for him and sings back a modest short low note, like a laugh always done with a smirk. A name song he doesn’t remember, but recognizes at once. The man nods and smiles, his hand warm and mumbles something Adrien can’t quite grasp, but there’s a wholeness to his moment, years of longing and loneliness ripping across their touch. A warm soul in colors of blue, from chilly icy depths until warm sky blue. Of love and family and thanking of gods sings through so plainly to see, of relief and happiness loud and clear.
Images of Adrien as a child flash through his mind, this man younger too and there are so many questions he wants to ask, this moment a muddled messy reunion that just feels so right. This man is his cousin: Guarded but Loyal Delight. Everything is moving too fast, the multitude of memories, the man being family. Adrien can only hopelessly watch as he pulls a necklace off his neck and grabs a ring.
Guarded gestures to him, wordlessly saying that the ring is his and places it in Adrien’s palm and mimes for him to put it on. Adrien does so, compelled to do so, as he vaguely remembers stories about little cats lost at sea and promises that gods and goddesses must always keep. Magic sings in his palm and he’s mesmerized as he places it on his right ring finger. It sits there for a moment, the world remaining the same for a second, until his next heartbeat.
The ring pulses on his finger, in time with the thrumming threading through his chest, creating a new and painful song as his body begins to change. The scales on his tail receding into skin. His bones shifting and flesh splitting at the seams to form strange, extraneous limbs. The gills smooth out on his neck, and he’s positive those are his screams he’s hearing.
It is only a second, but it feels like a lifetime of dread.
He feels the hands of his cousin touching shoulders, wrapping him in something warm, as the world comes back to normal. He tiredly looks at him, at the blond hair and green eyes. His cousin sings his name, the note of apology there.
The edges of his vision are dark now, everything stinging as a little creature floats into view and touches his forehead.
“It’s okay, kid. I got you.”
There is magic in the world, Adrien knows, but in this moment, he doesn’t particularly feel it as everything slips away.
-
He awakes with a start, feeling as if he’s drowning in darkness, the moonlight in the room shining through with abandon. Adrien’s heart hammers in his chest and it takes him a moment to realize he’s not underwater. The afternoon comes back to him in a rush as he pulls off the cloth over this lower body and his tail—
—it’s gone.
And in response, he screams again.
A roaring thumping crashes through the room as the man from earlier stands eerily at the opening. “Adrien? What’s wrong? Does it hurt?”
Without thinking, he snaps attention to him, his mind a mess. “Of course it hurts! My tail is gone!” And then it hits him, that he didn’t sing that part. His hands fly to his throat. “My—my song, where is my song? Why am I not singing?! What did you do to me?!”
His cousin stands there, in the darkness, and he doesn’t look as precious as he did in the sunlight, the rush of earlier long gone, leaving Adrien on the on the tail-end of agony.
There’s a flick on his ear and the creature from before grins at him. “Felix ain’t done nothing to you, little merman. It was me. And you’re not in pain, promise. Your mother would kill me.”
“Y-you know my mother?”
The little cat nods. “Yep. Known her a long time and I owed her a favor and now look at you! With two legs and human to boot! Name’s Plagg. That guy over there is Felix. He’s been looking for you for some time now.”
Felix, his cousin, Guarded but Loyal Delight sits down on what he thinks is called a chair. “Your mother has been giving me visions lately and has implored that I find you.”
“...you’ve seen her? Where? Is she here too?”
Felix shakes his head. “There’s a lot we have to go over, but the most important thing is that I’ve found you now. This is just the beginning before the end...”
“What’s the end?”
Felix sighs and hunches over, bringing his hands steepled to his chin. “We have a week to save the world apparently. According to your mother, at least.”
“My mother?”
Felix nods and tilts his head. “Well, apparently you and Ladybug that is.”
Magic comes with a price, Adrien knows, but this is a lot to bare on his shoulders.
However, the price of magic can wait as the words his cousin said start to tick in his head.
“Wait! What!? Save the world?! And who’s Ladybug?!”
-
Marinette is curled up on her bed, miserable and heartbroken, but thankfully she has stopped crying, Tikki notes. Where the young merman has gone, they have no idea and that has caused such worry for her charge that it breaks her ancient heart.
From first kiss to disappearance, Tikki doesn’t blame Marinette for being so upset. But magic comes with a price, Tikki knows, for she’s part of the rule as to why that law exists.
She floats over to her charge and cuddles close. “He’ll turn up soon, Marinette. He was earnest in how he felt about you, that’s for sure! I doubt he’d just leave without saying goodbye.”
Marinette sighs, a damp cheek resting atop Tikki’s head. “I guess. Falling in love sucks…”
Despite herself, Tikki giggles. “Not the first time a Ladybug has said that to me and it won’t be the last.”
Marinette laughs a little, dry and not much, but it’s something. “As long as I’m your favorite Ladybug, I think that’s all that matters to me.”
“Well, I think you’re my current favorite Ladybug!”
“Hey!” she interjects, but falls back onto her bed. Marinette sighs again. “Man, I do hope Minou does turn up again. At least I know I have more of a chance with a merman than a Black Cat…”
Tikki smiles to herself a bit, unsure how to voice the tingling that’s been prickling at the back of her neck.
“I’m sure one or both will turn up soon, Marinette. But it’s time for bed, Ladybug. Tomorrow’s gonna be a new day!”
Marinette yawns and shimmies under her covers. “Night, Tikk. I love you.”
Tikki hurries to turn off the light and flies back to her charge. “I love you too, Marinette. May your dreams be sweet.”
Marinette hums in thanks and quickly, her breathing evens out to a steady pace. Tikki does not join her in sleep, but instead floats up to the window to stare at the moon instead.
Pressing her little nub to the window, she sighs and whispers quietly to herself and the night. “Took you long enough, Plagg. Took you long enough…”
