FOR YOU is the longest album released by SMK girl group FRUIT BASKET on may 16, 2020, exactly four years after their debut. the album contains 14 songs, including seven sung by the full group, four solos, and three repackages of previous digital singles. the title track, BLOSSOM, was promoted may 17 until june 1, two bsides, DESTINY and FOR YOU, also had performances, as well as the four solos. all of the tracks on the album were written, composed, and produced by the members.

can we talk about stage outfits now because i think they were lovely

the blossom stages were gorgeous there was a lot of white flowy shit

not to mention THE MAKEUP it was like dewy and shimmery they looked like fairies

the destiny stages lowkey had cowboy vibes ??? it was great either way tho

and the one stage they did of for you they each had an outfit based around their representative colours and they each designed their own outfit :( they said stylists get OUT

they all dyed their hair lmao

hyunmi’s hair was black with a sorta blueish undertone

sooyoung’s was a vv dark red

eunji had black w green highlights (think psycho era seulgi)

and areum went back to blonde ! she dyed it back to brown like two weeks into promotions though lol

so it’s like a representative colours thing !!!! it’s cute !!!!!

the day the song came out they had like a five hour vlive where they sang all their new songs live and talked a bunch

they love interacting w blossoms so much it’s so cute :(

in each album they had a signed and handwritten letter and LOOK AT THEM THEYRE SO CUTE

ASH is a mixtape written by lee sooyoung of fruit basket, named after the alias she went by as an underground rapper in her late teens. it was released on april 20, 2020. the mixtape contains 7 tracks, plus one hidden track. none of the songs were promoted on any music shows, but still received success.

every single track is completely written and produced by herself !! she hasn’t rlly done that before so everyone gets to see her style i guess ? some of her music is a lil weird but it slaps so it’s cool

honestly it was just so refreshing to see sooyoung do something she wanted to do it was great

she didn’t wanna record a music video at first but then she decided to anyway bc filming music videos is fun

a lot of the songs were like . depressing as FUCK like damn

i mean at least she’s in a space where she feels comfortable talking about her hardships and what she’s been through and her thoughts and feelings on all of it

the mixtape recieved a lot of praise because of that !

there’s still a lot of homophobic netizens that don’t like her but she didn’t address it at all . mostly

during an instagram live she went on a lil rant about how judging someone based off of who they love is stupid because like . it’s LOVE it’s a natural thing

and that got netizens more mad but she’s sticking to her beliefs bro

she had her sister on set with her it was cute :( their interactions are the cutest we love to see sibling banter in this house

A LETTER TO MY YOUNGER SELF is the solo debut of kim areum, maknae and main vocalist of the popular girl group fruit basket. the entire song was written, composed, and produced by herself. she’s said this was the first song she ever wrote all on her own, and although it’s just a few simple ukulele chords for the most part, it took quite a while to get perfect.

areum - a letter to my younger self mv visuals

the song is about areum singing to her younger self, when she was struggling with confidence issues as a trainee and didn’t believe she’d debut.

in a few scenes, present time areum is seen in a room with different versions of herself, assumed to be her through different periods in her life. she’s seen doing normal things like hanging up paintings, marking dates off of calendars, reading, and things like that. there’s also a short homage to fruit basket’s last comeback witchcraft, as she’s seen hanging up a picture on the wall from that era.

in some scenes, she’s just standing in a room singing. a lot of these scenes are solely for aesthetic purposes, but some do have a deeper meaning when you really pay attention. she is writing in some scenes, of course, like the title suggests, but we don’t see exactly what it is she’s writing. by the end of the video, the letter is finished and packaged up, and the last clip is of her looking up and smiling, presumably at nothing.

the mv doesn’t follow much of a story, it’s mostly dark, halloween themed scenery. throughout the video the girls appear to be being chased by something, but it’s never fully revealed. the song is mostly lighthearted, although the instrumental is a little darker than they usually go, so the video is a big contrast.

this song was a hit or miss for a lot of people tbh,,, a lot of people didn’t like it because it was a new sound for them

but a lot of those people are fans that came for the bubblegum pop and tropical house sound they had so like,,,,,,,,,,

hyunmi’s hair was brown and to her shoulders, she usually kept it straight down and straightened but for some stages she had it sorta wet and slicked back if u know what i mean

sooyoung had extensions and her hair was long and blue, she had a fringe and her hair was wavy and back in a ponytail for most stages . sometimes she had pink eyebrows ? i dunno she’s weird

eunji had light brown hair which she kept her signature long length, and it was straightened for most stages and she had a bunch of fun clips

areum had light pink hair !! sometimes it was wavy down or i’m a high ponytail for stages . she even had pigtails once it was great

their makeup was rlly dark and it looked SO COOL give the makeup artists a raise

hyunmi fell during a performance and a lot of people were concerned

she went on social media and said the stage was a little slippery but she was fine otherwise

everyone was PISSED though they were like “they need to take care of the stage better so things like this don’t happen as often!!!”

she was fine tho chill

areum stumbled a few times during performances too but people weren’t as worried bcus they knew she was clumsy lmfao

the hairstyles this era were AMAZING

lots of sparkly clips

there was this one iconic hairstyle where areum had her hair straight and had a bunch of sparkly clips in either side

people thought she was copying that one jennie hairstyle but it’s hair clips chill

many people thought this was soty worthy but it might be a bit too late for that
