Several changes were made to Episode 11 between the pre-storyboard script and the recording script; most notably, this scene - in which Rei tells Asuka that the labyrinthine complexity of the layout of Nerv's underground system is a counterterrorist measure - was removed altogether, as were a couple of other scenes in which Kaji and Misato (stuck in the elevator) and Fuyutsuki, Gendo, and the others on the Bridge discuss who might be behind the power outage, and the nature of the attack, in a bit more detail. A scene in which Asuka leads them to a door, only to find that it leads to an underground water cistern, was also cut.

It's widely considered that Kaji was meant to be the one behind the power outage in this episode - I would agree that that much is at the very least implied. These deleted scenes make that a little more ambiguous, though, as seen above - when Shinji asks Rei what she means, Asuka glibly replies that there are "People who have complaints about what we do here," and such a scene (had it been included in the episode as-aired) would have emphasized the fact that Nerv does have enemies out there, however suspicious Kaji may seem.

Indeed, in the deleted Bridge scene, Aoba says that wires were physically cut in 27 locations, and efforts were made to cover up the damage "by means of programming" at 16 locations - which seems like a bit more than Kaji could manage on his own, given the timing. Perhaps this dialogue was cut to make it clearer that he was the perpetrator - but if it was cut for unrelated reasons, it's possible that the origin of the non-Angel attack on Nerv was originally meant to be more ambiguous.

Episode 12 - Parts A and B are now fully transcribed and translated. In total, Episode 12 is about 52 pages in this 2-column layout - the original Japanese is about 9640 words (15350 full-width characters); my English translation is about 8500 words (49150 half-width characters).

This episode covers the flashback to Dr. Katsuragi's self-sacrifice at Second Impact; Misato's promotion party; Gendo and Fuyutsuki's visit to Antarctica; Misato's monologue to Shinji about her father and argument with Ritsuko about strategy; the fight with the Angel Sahaquiel; and Shinji's reaction to receiving praise from Gendo.
