any recommendations for indie pop or indie electronica (think: manila killa, san holo, lido, etc.)? i’ve been having so much trouble finding chinese electronica that i like

Hi there!   I’m sorry to say I don’t know those bands you mentioned, but I’m happy to give some electro recs anyway!  =D

莉莉周她說 Lily Chou-Chou Lied  soft electro w/ m/f vocal. Very soothing sound.

Pasha  Hong Kong electronic dreampop. Nookie Ho-music programmer, Shadow Choy-vocal.  They tend to take long hiatus between albums, but definitely check them out.

Ruby Fatale 鹿比 ∞ 吠陀  electronica/glitch/stoner 鹿比-voc/music production, 子修-visuals.

Troy Lin 林昀駿 keys/electronica  SoundCloud.

Yikii Tong aka yik.ii Singer/electronic singer/musician living in China, part of the duo anemone with Japanese electronica musician Ninomiya Tatsuki  Yikii SoundCloud, Yikii bandcamp, anemone SoundCloud.

Dizparity electronica  SoundCloud.

Enno Cheng 鄭宜農’s recent solo efforts are very electro-acoustic, and her band Chocolate Tiger 猛虎巧克力 is one of my favorite indie pop/rock bands. 

Astro Bunny 原子邦妮 electropop duo of Lena Cha 查查 (查家雯), NU (張羽承 Edward Chang)  I love just about everything they do!

林瑪黛 matelin Electronic pop with DJ/producer/bass 黃少雍 Shao-Yong Huang, voc-Asha 林意倩 Yi Chian Lin (阿倩), Visuals by artist Mina Shih 施昭羽 Jhao Yu Shih (aka 小油画 / little oil), Yi-Chi Lin 林易祺-gtr (also in Vast & Hazy)  SoundCloud. Another big favorite.

To tell you the truth, it seems almost every TW act has added some electronic elements to their sound, especially the folkies that both lead bands and do solo shows. Lots of live looping and sample tracks.  

Another place to check out is Dark Paradise Records (run by producer 黃少雍 Shao-Yong Huang from matelin) they have 6 or 7 electronic compilations, and you’ll surely find some things you like there! (fb: 派樂黛唱片 & SoundCloud)
