still obsessed with the outer wilds alpha. like I HAVE that shit

someday I will gain the motivation to go through it and write about how much the characters have changed because jesus christ the difference is drastic

I don't remember how I got the alpha version since I. was not one of the people who got it when it was still up but I'm 90% sure I still have the file, I think I got it via wayback machine but I don't know

anyways the alpha is fun and I don't see posts about it, there's so much potential for shit surrounding it yall don't even understand

I think the very first thing I noticed is, when you wake up in the alpha, "slate's" (in quotes because they weren't named at the time, but they're clearly what was later turned into slate) dialogue is relatively the same but instead of saying "it's all fueled up" they say "she's all fueled up" and I love that tiny detail. SO much.

the hearthians had gender in the alpha iirc, "the curator" (hornfels) was referred to as he I'm pretty sure, probably along with other characters.

another thing, I'm pretty sure the alpha didn't have any sort of "ending" but alpha version speedruns still exist, so the only category is "marshmallow%" where you run to get the marshmallow at every campfire and it's really delightful. definitely recommend watching

I wanted to run it but there are no available guides i could find and I didn't want to just analyze footage and take my best guess sob.

anyways this was very ramble-y and aimless but I fucking love the alpha , as janky and weird as it is. outer wilds alpha version you are SO beautiful

if anyone wants it I can try to find the link again but I don't remember where I got it. I'm sure someone somewhere does though lol.
