United Healthcare getting sued by its investors, because it didn't warn them that the CEO getting murdered (by the tendrils of their unmitigated greed) was going to lead to them approving more claims (for covered services that they had no right to deny) is a cartoonish example of exactly why their CEO got murdered.

Their argument is essentially "You promised us a specific profit margin that is not possible to achieve under this increased public scrutiny of your unethical practices. We only agreed to invest because of those unethical practices. So we demand compensation because you didn't warn us that you'd be behaving more ethically"

And idk. Satire isn't just dead. We've pissed on its corpse and now it's dissolving in lye.

Bonus(? bonus for me, at least) versions with slightly different colors - the first of these was just fucking around with different effects on procreate (yay glitch!) and the second is with the original colors (which I liked) but it felt a little chaotic to look at because it was so bright, so muted it down for the final (up above).

Also, because she’s a ridiculously beautifully designed character, I got distracted for a bit painting her face below - this is rough and I may (likely?) go back to actually finish it because - again - *love* the design of her face!!

Oh for crying out loud it is absolute insanity that we never learned more about Cait's family despite the fact that it is central to the plot of season two. Everything cait does in S2 is for her dead mother, whom we never learn anything about other than she was rich, elitist, a council member, and once funded a ventilation system for zaun. That's it. We don't know anything about her on a personal or emotional level. We never get any further insight to her parenting and her relationship with her daughter other than what was shown in s1, which was just scraps. We never get any development on Caitlyn's dad either. We see him grieving the loss of his wife and then for all intensive purposes he's never seen or heard from again bc ig the show whose literal theme is family isn't very interested in what's left of the Kiramman family.

you guys are so annoying. why do i have to see discourse every year that's like "was tolkien really a woke king or was he your conservative uncle?" the guy was a devout catholic and a genteel misogynist who maintained lifelong friendships with queer people and women, and this isn't even paradoxical because that was part of the upper-class oxford culture he was immersed in. tolkien told the nazis to fuck off (and in doing so demonstrated a real understanding of what racism is and why it's harmful, beyond simply "these guys are bad news because they're who my country is at war with right now") but his inner life was marked by internalized racism that is deeply and inextricably woven into the art that he made. he foolishly described himself as an anarcho-monarchist, and it's kind of crazy to see people on this website passionately arguing that he likely never meaningfully engaged with anarchist theory, because...yeah, no shit, of course he didn't. tolkien didn't have to engage with most sociopolitical theory because as an upper-class englishman of his position, he was never affected by any of the issues that this theory is concerned with. what is plainly obvious from reading both his fiction and letters is that tolkien's ideal political system was that the divinely ordained god-king would rise up and rule in perfect justice and humility; he didn't want a government, he wanted a king arthur, even though (obviously) he was aware that outcome was impossible. why is it so hard for people to accept that he was just some guy! his letters aren't a code you have to crack. no amount of arguing or tumblr-level analysis is going to one day reveal a rhetorically airtight internally consistent worldview spanning jrrt's fiction, academic work, and personal writings, thereby "solving" the question of whether he was a woke king or your conservative uncle. his ideology was extremely inconsistent because, at the end of the day, he was just some guy.

I've been wanting to redraw my first Arcane fanart for a while and compare. The left pose I copied from a photo whereas the right one I did free handed. I'm also more comfortable with my rendering. Pretty happy with the improvement!
