Went in to see my new gastro doc/surgeon - and I am smitten with him (which seems like a weird thing to say about a doctor but my fellow spoonies will understand).   He has a sick, somewhat demented sense of humor, which will come into play in a minute.
The first thing he (and the med student who was shadowing him) did was ask what had brought me in.  When I said I had nausea for a month but that the HIDA scan came back “normal”, he asked what my numbers were - and seemed nearly as pissed off as I was that my GP had never told me the results beyond “normal”.
Apparently, my ejection fraction was at 54%, which is apparently bad for a 26 year old (He said I should have 90-100%, which I’ve heard from online sources means that it would then be hyperreactive, but whatever).  His exact words were that I had a sick gallbladder, but not necessarily sick enough to remove via surgery.  However, with me being symptomatic, I think he’s seriously leaning towards gallbladder surgery for me in the near future.
I pointed out that my foot and ankle were grossly swollen on one side - and that it didn’t result from injury or medication change.  Almost immediately, he got very concerned, left the room, came back and said “I have some concerns that you may have a blood clot in your leg - which is bad, so we’re going to put the nausea treatment on hold right now.  Honestly, if you have a blood clot, if it breaks off, it’d go to your lungs or heart and you’d die - so really, in the grand scheme of things, the nausea would no longer be important.  But, on the upside, when you got up there and saw St. Peter, you could always ask him for some Zofran or something.”  (REMEMBER WHEN I SAID HE HAD A SICK SENSE OF HUMOR? THIS ACTUALLY ENDEARED HIM FOR ALL OF THE DAYS).
He shipped me over to the hospital, where I was worked in to have Doppler Ultrasound on both of my legs (though honestly she seemed to spend more time on my non-symptomatic leg which is....something, I guess).  I didn’t get the results while there, but she did call the doctors office.  The tech had said that sometimes the doctors want to talk to the patients - but mine apparently didn’t, I guess?  IDK - my surgeon’s nurse had said I might receive results back tonight or tomorrow at the latest.
