bashful belgian here 🫣 the cat murder festival made me think of another very local and obscure animal cruelty festival... i used to live in an area that had a yearly tradition called ganzenrijden, where a bunch of guys compete to rip the head off a goose carcass on horseback... it's not even specific to belgium as apparently other euro countries practice it as well but i'll always associate it with 🇧🇪 since it was such a huge culture shock immediately after i immigrated. thought the belgaboos might enjoy this insider trivia
