I woke up at 5 am bc I was covered in termites! It was extremely uncool and I am extremely unhappy and our apartment complex is sending an exterminator today 😭 I haven’t been able to calm down since then and I feel like completely detached from my body and lightheaded from stress lmao 😭

a fun fact is that when i was younger i used to volunteer at a parade they hold at the f1 pit building so i've been pretty much everywhere because the pitlane and the garages and the grandstands at the pit straight are permanent structures (while the rest of the track infrastructure is set up just for the race). i spent a lot of time in where they set up the garages and walked the whole pitlane before which in hindsight now is super cool

Class #2
We did better! We participated the whole class this time. She'd still forge forward a bit if the team behind us started getting closer, but she'd drop back into heel. She's getting more comfortable with the instructors (and very comfortable with their fish fudge).
Class #3
"I've got to ask, is that a new dog?"
Nova did loads better. A ridiculous amount. No hesitation, focused, actually wanted to go back to the instructors for more treats as we went around the circle. Her body language was so much better. Her pace was so much better. She was happy, and engaged, and so much less distracted.
I swear, the third time seems to always be the charm with this dog.

mike & derrick are besties. to me. they hang out in derricks van & they smoke. they share a hotel room when theyre out of town. they write the WORST music & one time derrick convinced mike to help him make an experimental halloween album. they sold one copy to tillman. they one-up each other by making the worst meals known to man. they "practice pitching" together but end up just playing video games. they have worn each others jerseys to a game & will do it again. theyve made out on more than one occasion. mike tried to teach derrick how to bake it & went HORRIBLY.

Blues Lawyer — All in Good Time (Dark Entries)
Tumblr media
All In Good Time by Blues Lawyer
Blues Lawyer, a foursome out of the Bay Area, flickers like a hologram between power pop and punk, pummeling sweet hooky melodies bloody with walloping drums, puncturing jangle pop interludes with pinch squalling assaults of guitar. The band first came to our attention when the Reds, Pinks and Purples’ Glenn Donaldson gave them a nod in his Listed, writing that “Scenic Route,” “sounds like a real Brill classic put through some noisy gear.”
That’s a reasonably good way to describe most of All in Good Time (thanks Glenn!). It begins in a buzz of feedback as “Chance Encounters” kicks into gear, a bluster of double-thumped drums roughing up its wistful verse and crooning descants. It’s the kind of beat you can feel in your stomach, jellifyingly loud, and it hits like an exclamation mark after every bittersweet lyric.
Like most Bay Area bands, the members of Blues Lawyer have had ample opportunity to consider the problem of income inequality. Their name, after all, references the kind of skies-the-limit amateur guitar buyer who buys gear pitched well above his skill level (but not his credit limit). “Salary” has some of Fountains of Wayne’s irresistible way with a melody, but its subject is late capitalism and its chorus croons about “your shitty job without salary.”
There are two singers in Blues Lawyer, who tip the songs in different directions with their timbres and personalities. Elyse Schrock, the drummer, has an airy, unprocessed soprano that nonetheless pushes the songs into a brasher, girl-punk direction on bangers like “Return Policy,” but allows some K Records-ish vulnerability in others (like “Scenic Route”).
Rob Miller, who also plays guitar, takes the lead on the other tracks, and he definitely leads them into sweeter, more indie-pop territories. Yet the genius of the band is that if Miller is singing, Schrock is whomping on the drums, and if Shrock has the mic, Miller is executing incendiary licks on electric guitar. The songs are always shifting between tuneful frolic and full-on battery, and that’s what makes them good.
