How much time did you spend weeding this weekend? Do you love doing it? It is serious my least favorite part of gardening! And at 50, I’m getting way too old and achy to be bent over pulling up weeds for hours. So I am slowly but surely laying cardboard everywhere I can to act as a weed barrier. If you want some tips on using cardboard for weed control, check out the link in my profile for the full blog post. #weeding #gardeningtipsforbeginners #backyardgarden https://www.instagram.com/p/Cecn63jM5VH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Plantgrowpick (Waterfall, NSW) | Vegetable Gardening Tips for Beginners
Different people have a passion for different things, and passion for gardening is one of them. What? You are one of them? Most people think gardening is an easy job, but in reality, it is not. Therefore, before you plan to decorate your garden with vegetables, make sure you do it right, especially if you are a beginner.
Tumblr media
Let’s explore a few important vegetable gardening tips with the experts of Plantgrowpick.
Size of the garden
As per experts’ advice, it is better for beginners’ to start with a small portion of the garden. When you are new in something, it is better to invest a small amount of money and time. In the end, focus and quality matter a lot. If you are a beginner you need to focus more on gardening and its process. So make sure you choose a small garden at the beginning around 10×10 feet.
Veggies you should plant
When it comes to choosing veggies to plant, make sure you consider a few important things, which includes:
Productivity
When it comes to productivity, you need to consider your consumption, and preferences in vegetables. Now choose the seeds or plants you accordingly to put into the ground. Most times beginners make the mistake of planting in excess. You can consider vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, and squash throughout the season. These options are also beneficial because now you may not need many plants to serve your needs. As vegetables like carrots, radishes, and corn, produce only once.
Successive crops
You can choose to plant both cool- and warm-weather vegetables as it gives you a yield of vegetables and herbs through the spring, summer, and fall. In early spring you can choose to grow lettuce, peas, radishes, carrots, and broccoli. Once you’ve harvested cool-weather crops, you can plant hot-weather favorites. For example, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and herbs. And in the season of fall, you can harvest kale, Cabbage, and potatoes.
Best spot for your garden
The most important task is to find out the best place for your garden by Plantgrowpick. Make sure you the garden you choose must get the sunlight. The three main things that are essential for successful gardening are a sun, soil, and water.
The right amount of sun
Make sure vegetables get proper sunlight to kick-start photosynthesis. Remember the fastest growing vegetables required at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight and it should not be blocked with trees, fences, or shrubs. And when it comes to root vegetables which include carrots, radishes, etc., needs at least needs 3 to 4 hours of sun in a day.

Today’s #oneadayplant is a recent addition to my garden. Canna indica (Indian Shot) (a pleasing, small flowered, compact form that was grown from seed this year!) . Where some people go wild for the large-flowered and exotically coloured or patterned foliage of many of the hybrid varieties of Canna, I am far more interested in a good green leaf and a well-coloured, small flower. Don’t know why, I just am! Though not very clear in the picture, this form has pure green, leaves similar to a banana (though a lot smaller) . Canna are half-hardy, rhizomatous, herbaceous perennials and most people choose to lift them and store dry in a frost free environment over winter. I have seen Canna succumb to cold and wet and I have seen some prove themselves reliably hardy in the right spot too. I think it sensible to lift a portion of an established clump at least in order to have a replacement should it fail. . They are greedy plants too, so feed them well and water well while they are growing. In my experience, they are fine in pots as long as replanted regularly, into something larger, as they grow. I think that a little constriction of the roots can be a good thing to encourage better flowering. Too much, or prolonged constriction though and you will have yellowed leaves pretty quickly. I understand that it is edible and cropped for food in South America, but I know little to nothing about it and so I’m not recommending that anyone try without knowing exactly what they are doing. . It is a fun bit of larger, juicy foliage and an exotic look, with good flower. Worth a try. . #canna #cannaindica #indianshot #exotic #tropicalplants #plants #iplantsman #garden #flower #red #gardening #fleurs #blummen #bloemen #fiori #flores #foliage #leaves #gardeningtipsforbeginners #gardenista #plantingdeaign #gardeningadvice (at Crowborough, East Sussex) https://www.instagram.com/p/CF_v_LjAt2G/?igshid=1go966c2hmduw
