your doctor who article is so correct!!! i'd actually never heard that jodie whittaker quote abt not liking the show but in hindsight that makes sooo much sense. I remember early in 13's run trying to figure out why i liked this incarnation so much less than the 12th doctor, considering chibnall was the showrunner then too, but i think a big difference is that peter capaldi, despite not getting a ton of good stuff to work with most of the time, is a complete doctor who nerd who was incredibly passionate about the role, and you could tell!! Capaldi really made those seasons his own and i feel like he really fuelled 12's character development. I also remember being so sad Bill would never get to meet 13, which is honestly just funny in hindsight bc i cannot imagine Bill putting up with 13 for long at all

thank you! and yeah i totally agree! i think something that saved capaldi, smith, tenant and eccleston when they had bad scripts (because all of them did at one point or another) is because all of them had a real passion and handle on who the Doctor was to them and the audience. so, it shined through even in their worst eps! jodie had no personal interpretation or passion for who the Doctor was. she just relied on the writing, and her scene partners and it showed for the worse, especially because chibnall's writing was so inconsistent and souless. and omg i am so relieved bill never had to endure 13! i was the same initially, thinking it would be cool for 13 to have an openly lesbian companion but after seeing how chibs wrote companions of colour i just felt bill dodged a bullet.

theres a main character who's a butch/stud and like 3 or 4 prominent supporting characters who are decidedly butch, plus a lot of minor/background characters & a trans character. They're all really hot also

i read the Percy Jackson books for the first time like a year or two ago (?) and I devoured them. Think I read the whole series in like a week, and I was kicking myself for not reading them as a kid like the whole time. I have no idea how I missed them. As a kid I read everything and I loved greek mythology but man I still enjoyed them so much as a 20 year old

yesss same I've been reading through them so fast like I can't put them down!! I remember all my friends in late elementary/early middle school reading them but I have no clue why I didn't?? they're still so enjoyable even later on in life which I just love they're such good books I already wanna reread them

Personally if a British soldier had pointed a gun in my face on multiple occasions & my ancestor had been executed by the British for rebelling against their colonialism I would not be defending the royal family but ok

Stranger Things S4 just rehashing stuff Riverdale did better seasons ago, yet still having people say its a good show really proves the anti CW bias in this society smh. An hour long Netflix original can laugh while a 40 minute CW show can merely chuckle......
