#SeppWomser (english)
For many decades the Juri-Gagarin-School in the V. residential complex of Eisenhüttenstadt was a formative place for children of the city. Architecturally outstanding, spacious, bright, the old schoolyard as the most beautiful place there was (der schönste Platz den’s für mich gibt).
Like many buildings of this time the school was designed with so call Kunst am Bau, i.e. artworks that should support its function, value, and meaning. On the outside is a tiled mosaic the illustrates “the development of mankind”. In the foyer, the artist Sepp Womser from Eisenhüttenstadt painted an ideal picture of the city of Eisenhüttenstadt and its people. The mural survived largely unscathed the decades of intensive schooling, a profound transformation of the building into an office centre and finally even years of vacancy and vandalism. Now it is destroyed.
The sprayer could have chosen one of hundreds of walls in the abandoned complex to paint his stage name and ego in red and white. He made a conscious decision to erase a work of art that was important for many people and that had a formative influence on them. Both criminal and civil law hardly threaten him with any consequences. He knows that and that is why he lives out so inconsiderately and without respect.
Graffiti is his business model. He knows how far he can go. We have to accept it. We have to have a testimony of our past painted over. SPOAR153 travels from his hometown and his main place of work, Frankfurt (Oder), to Eisenhüttenstadt and, in order to raise his own profile, unabashedly erases a picture by Sepp Womser. He knows that there will be no consequences. We register it stunned and can do nothing about it.
At the same time, we don't want to leave it just like that. What we are left with is a digital intervention, also as a reminder. We can digitally “just write a name” back. We can make the name of the artist that SPOAR153 wanted to delete visible again. We want to remind SPOAR153 again and again of what he did. And for that we need you.
That's why we are calling for the name SEPP WOMSER, i.e. the name of the artist SPOAR153 absolutely wanted to delete, to be taken loudly to where SPOAR153 has to read it every day, i.e. his social media pages. That's what we can do: comment on the name #SeppWomser again and again and again under every post that SPOAR153 uploads:

Show SPOAR153 that you do not agree with his vandalism. Tag back. Share this post. Thank you.
