BREAKING NEWS: Human Rights lawyer, Advocate George Bizos, has died, age 92 Sep 9, 2020by A4W News On Wednesday, 9 September, it was confirmed that renowned human rights lawyer, Advocate George Bizos had passed away. He was 92-years-old… The news was shared by Newzroom Afrika’s Katy Katopodis who tweeted that “Sources close to the family have confirmed that #GeorgeBizos died late this afternoon.” Bizos was a major voice in the campaign against apartheid and represented Walter Sisulu and Nelson Mandela in both the Treason and Rivonia Trials. According to South African History Online, Bizos also represented the families of fallen heroes in the liberation struggle at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. This included the families of Steve Bantu Biko, Chris Hani and the Cradock Four (Matthew Goniwe, Fort Calata, Sparrow Mkhonto and Sicelo Mhlawuli).
