She’s my sparring partner, I like her, she doesn’t go easy on me and that makes me a better performer for sure. WWE NEWS:  ‘ THE EXAMPLES ‘ REUNITED!!

Last night, Gesa and Emelda shocked the WWE Universe by answering Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair’s Open Challenge for the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships.

Heads snapped towards the entrance monitors and eyes widened in surprise as the first notes of their long-unheard Theme Song hit the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, AZ. Most viewers were caught off guard as these Superstars were walking towards the ring together, in completely new gear; most seemed utterly confused, some were highly excited to see them as a team again. (For the ignorami; Emelda and Gesa had been a most successful Tag Team in their early Independent Wrestling careers, almost ten years ago.)

The German-based superstar Emelda had joined NXT shortly after the Brand Split in 2016, attacking Gesa, who had been part of the promotion for a year already. Their feud was one of the most-talked-about ones after Sasha Banks and Bayley‘s. It had shortly ended in the beginning of Gesa’s NXT Women’s Championship reign, yet the peace hadn’t lasted long. Neither public attempts of a conciliation nor their draft to Smackdown Live had been able to stop their feud.

Yet in recent weeks, a slow change in Emelda’s attitude had become apparent. With NYC’s superstar Gesa facing a new opponent, Tamina, she had started to become more civil around her; and even went so far as speaking up for her during a few interviews. Last month, she had left us puzzled as she backed Gesa up right before Tamina had wanted to attack her from behind; a week later she had stood by her side to prevent any other incidents. After their match at Money in the Bank, which Gesa had lost, Emelda had been running down to defend her frenemy (?)  as Tamina had viciously beaten down her already prostrated opponent. So far, there have been no explanations of her behaviour because both women have disappeared from our screens afterwards.

At last night’s Smackdown Live however, they both made a sudden return to face the now former Tag Team Champs, much to their bewilderment. Their match gave us a glimpse at their ability to work together, to support each other strengths and to protect their weaknesses. Lasting 25 minutes, the match itself proved to be history-worthy; given the fact that all four superstars had to put up with quite a few fantastic movements. Starting off, Charlotte and Gesa faced each other, yet Emelda was soon tagged in after the latter one had received several push-up headscissor slams. The German-Mexican was able to perform a spinning impaler, yet Charlotte kicked out at two. Becky’s dis-arm-her was interrupted by Gesa shortly before Emelda tapped out, and the Irish Lasskicker barely survived the bite of the dragon. However, Charlotte used a perfect corkscrew moonsault but couldn’t follow with the figure-eight leglock because Emelda pulled her partner out of the ring beforehand. After escaping from the meldabuster, Lynch was tagged back in, giving her opponent the beating of a lifetime and was more than irritated when Emelda had the nerve to kick out. Gesa soon after finished the match with her famous g-spot.

With their surprising victory, Gesa and Emelda are now our new Smackdown Tag Team Champions; and we can only wonder what The Examples will be doing next!
