JUST AN INTRODUCTION TO AN INSERT CONCEPT, IT MEANS NOTHING, I'M NOT ATTACHED. I SWEAR. Also WoL!Adri makes an appearance, I guess.
xiv mutuals: @dearly-beeloved @sosoftandsweet @dorothys-wife
"When the Domans are finished with their tasks, rejoin them and seek out Altan. He will have another task for the three of you," Daidukul had instructed him.
As told, A'driel had met up with Hien and Gosetsu at the allotted time.
"Did he not give you any specifics of what the man even looks like?" Gosetsu had puzzled, perhaps not a little irritated with the circumstance.
A'driel merely shook his head, and thus did the three proceed to ask around, pestering anyone who might know the location of the man they sought.
Eventually did one of the Buduga gesture in a particular direction. "He's at the falcon landing currently. You'll know him when you see him," was all that was offered before the three were ignored once more.
A group shrug was expressed before they proceeded to the area they were directed to, seeing no one but a lone auri woman facing outward.
"Excuse me," Hien greeted, approaching the small figure, "We seek Altan of the Buduga. We were told he might be here, do you know where we might find him?"
"And why, pray, do you seek him?" came the au'ra's gruff reply, a voice that was evident of an abrasive demeanor.
At the brisk reception, Hien looked back at his two companions, who could only offer another shrug between the two of them. Returning the shrug, the Doman cleared his throat and turned back to face the woman who did not offer him the same courtesy.
"Daidukul sent us. We were told he had a task for us."
A sharp, singular "HAH!" was nearly enough to startle. "Daidukul, huh?"
At this point, did Gosetsu perceive an odd factor in the mix of the exchange, his mind processing what his gaze had been drawn to.
"The green vestiments of the Buduga? But that's-"
And now did the au'ra turn, facing them with arms crossed over a bare chest that only distracted slightly from the cold stare of a face masked in indignation.
"-I- am Altan of the Buduga, and I would judge your merit before assigning a task befitting your results."
It was not that three men balked so much as reeled, though Gosetsu was wont to speak out in his shocked state.
"YOU are Altan? But I was to believe the Buduga was comprised only of men!"
Altan's offense, or perhaps lack thereof, was impossible to decipher as he merely sneered. "Aye, my appearance is deceptive. Ghoa of the Qerel, I was born. In the Qerel, one's right of passage is to slay a steppe tiger with one's own hands. It was as I rended the beast that the woman Ghoa was slain as well, and the man Altan returned. She was merely a stone beneath my feet to lead me to my true self." The au'ra thumped his fist to his chest. "I assure you, Doman, I am as much a man as you. If you have doubts, I am more than happy to challenge your opinion."
The threat was blatant, and again did the three reel in silence before Hien once again cleared his throat. "I'm… I'm not sure your Khan would be very pleased with us coming to blows."
Altan regarded him incredulously for all but a few seconds before laughing again. "You speak of Daidukul? Nay. I assure you, we are quite intimately acquainted. He knew full well what the outcome may be when he directed you to the man he himself lay with."
This time the group DID balk, openly at that. A'driel, silent as always, merely blinked, his mouth agape. Hien was gracious enough to not say anything, but Gosetsu couldn't help his exclamation of "WHAT!?"
Altan responded with a squint and a bitter, mocking smile before his face fell deadpan once more. "Irrelevant. Come, I would judge you and assign your task, that you may free me of your drivel."
Without waiting for the trio to recover from their shock, he began to walk, not bothering to look behind even once.

Eunomia was something of a private investigator, seeking to keep law and order on the star. She was known for being secretly being compassionate and loving underneath her stern exterior. She was one of the souls sacrificd to bring forth Hydaelyn. She is Ghoa's Ancient.
Demeter was known for infusing her healing magicks into her cooking. It was said that her food could heal any ailment known to man. She was a noble, caring, knowledgeable soul. She was killed by the Sundering, peacefully accepting her fate. She is Oviine’s Ancient.
Epione took the Seat of Azem after their adoptive mother, Venat, stepped down. They were known for their incredible abilities with white magicks and for their need to help others. 25 for......... hmm............... ghoa/magnai?
"I'll be back soon, before you know it," Ghoa had promised him.
The Sun was too proud, too bright to let show that he missed his nhaama. Yet his heart ached for her, to hear her soft contralto voice, to see her lush black hair shining in the Steppe's light.
It was time for Magnai to turn in for the night. Before he crawled into bed--their bed--he saw that Ghoa had left her favorite jacket behind. It was sheepskin, and soft enough to rival her skin.
He picked it up, and ran a hand back and forth over it. Her mother had made it, a long time ago, when they were teenagers. She'd cherished it ever since. Surely whatever business her friends had asked for help with was urgent enough to make her forget this.
Magnai brought it to his face. He thought he could smell her--always warm, grassy, with something like a hint of flame. He sighed.
He brought it with him to bed. He wrapped his arms around it, wishing it was her. The ache in his heart began to relent. She would be by his side again soon.
