I’ve been writing an extremely long and rambling post about my headcanon for Darcy’s and Wickham’s upbringings, given that their common parental figure was by all accounts a super nice man and yet, as Elizabeth notes in P&P, it seems like something went very wrong.

#it's funny because my very first austen fic (back in 2004 or 2005) was all about darcy's father fucking up in various ways #well it was more about lady anne dealing (poorly) with him fucking up and the impact on young darcy and wickham #also while the board it was posted on is gone (rip hyacinth gardens)#i do remember a) people reading all sorts of villainy into tiny wickham #and b) someone (pretty sure it was abigail reynolds actually) noticing that tiny darcy read very strongly as autistic #given that i wouldn't be diagnosed for another... idk six years it's interesting that it was so glaring #and that is still relevant to the overall headcanon sooo #but while i feel more kindly towards the late mr darcy now it is kind of fun to go back and revisit his failures #anghraine babbles #austen blogging #anghraine's headcanons #fic talk #mr darcy senior #fitzwilliam darcy #george wickham
