So, this happened today on GMMore.

Rhett said they haven’t been able to give all the wasted food as grub for farm animals. I already knew this (despite their insistence that that’s what they did) because, c’mon, I’m not 5 years old and could figure that that’s impossible. Compost is all well and good but I don’t like how they’re still trying to avoid acknowledging that they throw it away by branding it “mythical” compost.

 But here’s a concern, if they are just bringing this up now, then I guess they either DIDN’T compost it before (prolly just threw it out in a plastic bag) or they weren’t being dishonest before, but now, out of sheer growth in channel and frequency of food episodes, they have far too much more garbage and waste than they know what to do with.

So I got curious, and here are the number of food episodes in the past 30 episodes of GMM and GMMore:

over half of GMM, almost half of GMMore.

Here’s what this month looks like:

2 days can’t go by without a food episode. It feels so gross, such gratuitous waste. Plus, they practically chop out all the dialog between Rhett and Link in these ep’s to get to the “main event”- gaggin on food. Can’t they just stop this crud?? jeez

Oh, gosh 🍣!

I feel just a little embarassed right now. I wrote a little rhink fic about sushi not so long ago, with Link as a human sushi platter. Seeing the topic of today's GMM made me feel not only mortified but also like someone had probed my brain. I know that after Link was a human nacho platter in an earlier episode, another episode with the same concept was bound to happen, but it was just such a freaky coincidence that they took the sushi route so soon after the mythical potluck (especially since they already implied they knew about said potluck with the voice mail wheel ending...). Ok, I was freaking out by all the coincidences throughout the episode, and that state of mind was very much present when writing this commentary.

I don't quite know how nori sheets are made, but the fact that the crew managed to obtain a huge sheet like that is impressive. The entire studio must have smelled like the ocean after this.

Link has a tendency to be a bit of an exhibitionist, hasn't he? I wonder if they ever even considered Rhett for these things, or was Link volunteering from the start? I guess it would have been a bad idea to have Rhett spiderwalking over a sheet of seaweed, with his back issues.

I can't believe the measures Rhett and Link (in this case, mostly Link) are willing to take for our entertainment. I felt kind of bad for poor Link who had to endure not only being slathered with wasabi and spicy mayo, but also almost choking on soy sauce. And then being rolled and wrapped into a sushi roll. He was surprisingly calm about all of it. And Rhett got to say Link had crabs in his croth, of course!

In GMMore, while I was still slightly concerned about if Link got all the soy sauce out of his airways, I was also deeply concerned about how the entire crew laughed when Link invited them to eat him. What if someone from the crew actually did read my fic? What if that was the reason they reacted to Link's "Eat me!" with so much laughter? (Paranoia, here I come!)

All in all, this was a hilarious episode, even though I feel that the idea of wrapping a full scale Link into a sushi roll is among the ones which look a bit better on paper than in real life. I laughed quite a bit during the construction phase, and Link was such a good sport enduring this, especially when he doesn't even like sushi.

Now, I need to go get my brain straight, and in the future, I'll try to write fics which are a lot more fictional, so I don't have to see them played out on GMM again. 😳🙃😅
