Am I just imagining it, or does Vassago's hair seem to get longer with each iteration of her design? Makes me wonder if she'd ever grow it out from before she ever cursed herself.
Yes!! She actually used to wear her hair VERY long!! Some of my first art had her with hair down to her back. She cut it after she was taken into the abbey!
Old drawing from 2020 of her and beleth:

I wanted her hair to slowly grow out as a sign of time passing too!

you have an excellent eye for stylish and fashionable designs. you make really good use of bold, limited palettes. you're able to set mood effectively in a way that conveys gravity of character! i think there are specific strengths you could bolster, but your personal style also has a lot of ways you could expand on elements you don't do as often - detail shots or landscape, playing with zoom, exploring more diversity of anatomy, or exaggerated action and foreshortening and stuff. you make some really cool art, and i like it for what it is, and there's nothing wrong with sticking to what you like of course, i just you've got the skills to make a broad array of expression shine!
Hello anon! I really wanted to thank you so much for your kind message. I think the biggest thing I appreciated is the helpful direction you also gave me. It makes me happy that people can see I can push the strengths of my style more and it’s definitely something I want to work on! I did want to share that I actually… used to do a lot more background work. A lot of the pieces are from 2020 and I experimented a /lot/ to really push myself. I lost the drive after I started my full time job so I never had the same energy or time like I used to back at the end of 2020 but I wanted to keep trying.
This is old work but I thought it would be fun to share, just to show that I really do want to revisit this stuff and even redraw some of them too!

Diversity in anatomy is another thing I’m working towards slowly improving! Did you know I actually couldn’t draw aged characters or even cis male characters well? Bloodborne really helped me out with that and I want to return back to playing around with it. I did actually buy the dungeon meshi daydream hour that was recently released to study and see how the mangaka approached diverse body types. It’s extremely inspirational to me. The design I’m working on for Agares is me pushing to draw a cis female body type differently as well as in age! Caesnig is the other character I wanted to push with working on in terms of body type and face since his was a goal of mine to reach that I want to continue developing as well!

I hope to return back to experimenting when I can because I know I can do it! It comes down to finding the inspiration that kickstarts it and the energy as well. I really do appreciate what you told me today and even the ways I can further push my work and what would really make it shine. It made me so motivated to try again and work at it ❤️

Hello! I wanted to give a general update post for commissioners to see. I’m hopefully getting back in track now with catching up with the work. I had to get some medication increased and start seeing my therapist due to how badly my depression had spiraled and debilitated me.
It’s a slow process at the moment but I’m pushing through so I can get work done. I’ve been feeling much better each day but I want to say thank you for the patience in regards to that. I got really screwed over since the end of May when I had Covid and it just spiraled down from there.

Not even just demons, but monster designs in general. What draws you to them?
Before I never really thought heavily into it but I when my best friend got me into Bloodborne it just really clicked. My favorite thing with monsters is when they were previously someone human. Ludwig from Bloodborne is a perfect example. He’s what got me to really fall in love with monsters more and wanting to create my own.
Something about the struggle of human emotions and becoming what shaped their being really drew me to it.

I gotta know how Caesnig and Vassa developed their found family father-daughter relationship. It feels like one of the most prominent elements of the story: How does someone so misanthropic come to terms with Vassa's love for humankind?
There’s a lot to really do in depth for this because of the relationship. While Vassago wants it to be very much a found family father-daughter type… it comes across in a controlling side from Caesnig.
CONTENT WARNING FOR SUICIDE
The story is, when Vassago helped the watchers escape the Abyssal Prison, she resigned herself to her own fate and wanted to take her own life. She felt that her use as an angel came to end and there was nothing to live for. Caesnig was intrigued by this fallen and how fearless she was in the face of death. As Samael, his true name, of course he took an interest in her. He was the one that rescued her from taking her life by falling into the abyss despite how much she begged to let herself die. He wanted to see that resolve and fire burn and he decided to become her guardian.
He didn’t realize however that she held such strong empathy for humanity and it disgusted him. He never revealed his true name to her until there came a point in time where he had to rescue her by ripping apart from within his monstrous shell.
He refuses to accept her love for humanity and even brings up how it was humanity that caused her fall. The dynamic I took inspiration from for this was with Alucard and Seras in Hellsing. There’s a point in the series where Alucard kills humans that came to attack them at the hotel and Seras brings up tearfully how they’re humans after he scorns her but then has that slight understanding that she still sees humans as just people they shouldn’t kill. “It has to be this way,” is something that’s stuck with me for Caesnig’s character.
He doesn’t understand empathy or positive human emotions well but he’s trying. He ends up as over controlling and abusive due to his protective nature to keep her from harms way but also to ignite the passion she has in the face of death. It’s how she ended up associated with the Angels of Death.
Narratively it’s going to take time before he can truly understand through her eyes why she loved them. Thats the reason they’re also an antithesis to each other. He truly does love her as a daughter and even if he doesn’t openly admit it, deep down he’s afraid that her love for humanity will be her undoing again.

Which Final Fantasies would you say you drew the most inspiration from for Keeper in Tartarus?
Without a doubt Ivalice Alliance, especially Final Fantasy Tactics and FF9! Those were also two of my biggest final fantasy games growing up ;_; there’s some bits from FF7 too as well! But honestly, I would say the older games up until 7 and then 9 really did give me the biggest inspiration.

I am so sorry for the delay in things for some of the chibis I took on for commission. I finally recovered and I’m in the clear after dealing with COVID since the end of May 😭 the nonstop coughing, fatigue, and brain fog was absolutely brutal on me. Whatever strain I had was bad.
If I have forgotten anything PLEASE don’t be afraid to drop a DM and remind me!! I cannot express how bad the brain fog affected me and I feel like I’ve had an even worse lapse in memory coupled with my ADHD. It’s been a bad wombo combo.
I’m making sure to write everything down as needed so I get things finished promptly!

Could you tell us more about Samiel, plus how you started playing PF2e?
Of course!!
The PF2e is a homebrew campaign so everything will be from that :D He's of a winged (cherub/angelic) race called the Saeid. When they are born, they are brought immediately into the service of the church. He doesn't remember much of his original family, sadly. One special thing that makes Samiel stand out is that he has a pair of black wings. Saeid are typically born with white but for him it's see as an ill omen. The village he grew up in was more accepting to him thankfully but there were some who wanted him killed due to those superstitions. The upper right side of his face around his eye was burned in an attempt to try and harm him but he made it out safely. He's blind out of that eye though due to the damage. The priest that raised him was very kindly but when he passed he was put into the care of another. That priest took him to the city and the Cathedral to continue his service to the church. Those in the church did not take well to him and avoided him because of his apperance with the black wings. He kept to himself and remained rather isolated. The campaign takes place within a magic academy and Father Hyram (his caretaker) was offered a position in regards to investigating an incident that is taking place. Samiel was offered the chance to join the school and he took it seeing as he didn't have much elsewhere to go... So now, he's a part of the Sapphire class and is friends with the students. Claire and Andrea who are ratfolk, Freydis an ice dragon, Juniper an owl person, and Adara a human. They are all girls which is so funny but he feels very safe and trusts them deeply. I should note that this is my first time ever taking part in PF2e. The reason I got into it is because I was invited to the campaign. The group is my friends and FC from excalibur that I've known for a few years. They're actually all veterans at playing d&d and tabletop!! A lot of them already knew one another through the campaigns they played. So this is my first time into it and I really love it a lot!! ^^

For traditional drawing, what inking materials do you use?
Hello!! So it actually varies a lot because I tend to mix and match a lot of my ink stuff. But here’s a photo of what I typically keep on me for inking:
Tumblr media
I use staedtler, zig, micron, pentel, and kuretake! I also use a twsbi eco pen with is filled with iroshizuku ink! I use a mix between waterproof and non-waterproof because of the type of effects I wanna get with my work.
I also try to look at a variety of color inks too for painting! I really like the iroshizuku for the vibrancy, diamine, ferris wheel, and noodler! I’m always on the look out to try a variety of colored inks.
Thank you so much for asking!! I really love to experiment a lot as well so I’ll always be trying out new brands and types. I typically use brush pens the most but I’ve been trying to use microns for fine lining. I actually draw with my twsbi eco pen a lot too!

angels! what draws you to em?
I was raised Catholic by my mom whose Guatemalan. It’s extremely prominent in Latin American culture so I was always taught the importance of the angels growing up. Like since I was little i as always fascinated by them. I didn’t start doing OC stuff with them though until like…2008 ish? Since then I’ve always been draw to them just growing up in that type of culture.
I really love the trend of the biblically accurate angels too!! I wanna design more monstrous ones but I still like being able to give some sort of human form to them depending on who it is I portray

What's the origin of your ocs and the world they inhabit?
Oh!! Sorry if I misunderstand but the majority of my OCs I still use, I made a lot of them back around 2008 ish? My very old OC group I still do stuff with we used to have a setting that was for Hell and it was a big RP sandbox.
Overtime we sort of branched off into how we view hell and the underworld to create our own renditions! We still cross over those characters in an AU and use places that exist between both of them. For my world, it’s very inspired by soulsborne and Elden ring!

Do you think you would ever sell your pins on Amazon? If so I’m definitely buying.
Ahh I don’t know if I’d be able to do Amazon, but I was considering the possibility of either doing it through Ko-Fi or Etsy! I’ve just never set up a shop before so it’s a little difficult for me. I also have two keychains I created with a friend as a collab. I don’t know how many copies are left but they were going to be included in the shop!

you like capturing motion in your silhouettes. monsters that writhe, clothing caught in the wind, that sort of thing. its neat!
Thank you anon!!! One thing I’ve always been told is the way my line work is, it feels like there’s a much motion to it and I’m really happy a lot about that ;0; I just want my characters to feel alive with how I draw them!!
