Hi hello I hope you're having a good day!!! I was curious if you knew about the whole... Jeffrey star, manny mua, Laura Lee, who the fuck ever YouTube drama??? I'm just finding out about this I am MASSIVELY confused and you mentioned liking YouTube drama before lmfao

hi!!!! thank u!!! and ive been kinda keeping up with it? like ive mostly seen stuff about laura lee, since her apology video blew up kinda. from what i can get a bunch of like, old racist tweets were dug up and i have some.... thoughts on stuff like that.

like im not a fan of people using stuff people said 5+ years ago against them, especially if they’ve obviously learned/changed since then. like if someone said something bad 5 years ago, but since then has very obviously stopped doing/saying said bad thing and realizes why it was bad... dont use that against them. everyone fucks up, hell ive said super shitty things before, within the past 5 years, but ive since learned and grown. it would be one thing if these racist/offensive tweets were from like... 4 months ago or if this had been an ongoing thing. i have no idea what laura lee is like as a person so maybe she has been consistently shitty but if not then ppl shouldnt use her past against her imo

i also dont know much abt jeffrey star, like ive heard shitty things abt him and the fact that hes been racist in the past but again, if hes since apologized and obviously changed, i dont see the real issue? like obviously dont give it a pass and hold him accountable but also i hate this whole “””cancel culture””” thats going around where its like “oh you did something bad before? you’re forever evil”. i know shane dawson did a docuseries on jeffrey but i havent found the time to sit down and watch it yet. im a fan of shane and i bet its great but just.... time lol

slightly related, i also hate stan culture so much, like its totally fine to love celebrities and look up to them and be a “die hard fan” or whatever but also  gotta realize that theyre people too and are gonna mess up at some point, and you can’t a) immediately “cancel” them the second they do something bad and/or b) excuse every single thing they do. like its 100% possible to be a fan of someone who is “””problematic””” without like, having an existential crisis or a twitter meltdown lol

back to laura lee tho, i do think her apology video was bullshit and a huge mistake, like it just seems fake and not genuine and its pretty much impossible to ever do a good youtube apology. like 99% of the time all apology videos come across as manipulative and fake and just end up backfiring. i dont doubt that she is sorry on some level, but posting some sobbing messy video was just not a good move and considering the fact that shes lost half a million subs at least, her fanbase agrees

when it comes to youtube drama i pay attention to makeup community drama the least bc i dont follow many people who keep up w that community but its still.... entertaining? like overall i think youtubers are just so immature and petty most of  the time and half of the drama that unfolds could probably be avoided if these ppl just like, logged out of twitter for a few days and talked to each other lol (but then also i wouldnt have stuff to follow so...)
