गोविंदा का जन्‍म 21 दिसंबर 1963 को मुबंई के विरार में हुआ था। उनके पिता अरुण आहूजा और मां निर्मला देवी 40 के दशक में फिल्‍मों में काम करते थे। वहीं मां-बाप की तरह गोविंदा को भी एक्टिंग करने का बेहद शौक था। उन्‍होंने फिल्‍म 'इल्‍जाम' से बॉलीवुड में डेब्‍यू किया था, जो उनके करियर की हिट साबित हुई।

गोविंदा ने साल 1985 में जून के महीने में 'लव 86' फिल्म की शूटिंग शुरू की और इसी साल जुलाई के मध्य तक उन्होंने 40 फिल्में साइन की थी, जो एक रिकॉर्ड बन गया। इसके बाद साल 1992 में गोविंदा ने फिल्‍म 'शोला और शबनम' में काम किया। गोविंदा का सितारा चमका और फिल्‍म ने बॉक्‍स ऑफिस पर धमाकेदार कमाई की।

इसके बाद उन्‍होंने वर्ष 1993 में 'आंखें', 1994 में 'राजा बाबू', 1995 में 'कुली नंबर 1', 1996 में 'साजन चलें ससुराल', 1997 में 'हीरो नंबर 1', 'दीवाना मस्‍ताना' और 'बड़े मियां और छोटे मियां' जैसी सुपरहिट फिल्‍मों में काम किया। बॉलीवुड में 80 और 90 के दशक में गोविंदा ने सबसे ज्यादा नीलम, जूही चावला, करिश्मा कपूर, रवीना टंडन, रानी मुखर्जी, कादर खान, संजय दत्त, परेश रावल, सतीश कौशिक, जॉनी लीवर जैसे कलाकारों के साथ काम किया।

गोंविंदा ने लगभग 165 फिल्‍मों में काम किया है। उन्‍हें 12 बार फिल्‍मफेयर अवार्ड नॉमिनेशन, फिल्‍मफेयर स्‍पेशल अवार्ड और बेस्‍ट कॉमेडियन के लिए फिल्‍मफेयर अवार्ड मिल चुके हैं। गोविंदा अपना लकी नंबर 14 को मानते हैं। उन्होंने फिल्म 'हद कर दी आपने' में 14 किरदार निभाए थे। पहली तारीख जिस वक्त में शूटिंग कर रहे थे वो 14 तारीख थी। 14 सालों तक वो टॉप पर रहे और जब लोकसभा में आए तो वह 14वीं लोकसभा थी।

गोविंदा ने साल 1987 में सुनीता आहूजा से लव मैरिज की थी। दोनों के दो बच्‍चे एक बेटी टीना आहूजा और बेटा यशवर्धन हैं। अक्‍सर गोविंदा अपनी पूरी फैमिली के साथ स्‍पॉट किए जाते हैं।

गोविंदा हिंदी सिनेमा के उन कलाकारों में से एक हैं जिसकी जगह शायद ही कोई ले पाएगा। गोविंदा की डायलॉग डिलीवरी, दमदार डांस, हाजिर-जवाबी का निचोड़ बेहद कम कलाकारों में देखने को मिलता है। गोविंदा छह भाई बहनों में सबसे छोटे है और उन्हें प्यार से ची-ची बुलाया जाता है।

Stay home Bollywood actor Govinda's son Yashvardhan Ahuja recently met with an accident in Mumbai's Juhu area. According to the latest reports, no one was injured. The accident took place at 8:30 pm when Yashvardhan was driving and collided into another car that belonged to a person associated with the Yash Raj banner. It was a minor accident and nobody got seriously injured. Govinda’s son Yashvardhan is also fine and just got a few minor injuries on his hands.
