Graydon is a mer prince who's fascinated with the human world and saves Prince Airk (too easy). Elora is an orphan taken in by fish mongers who sees a Mermaid save the Prince. Graydon sees Elora see him and swims away so Airk sees Elora when he wakes up and thinks she saved him and proposes marriages. She insists it was actually a mermaid and while no one in the royal court believes her, Airk goes with her to the water to look.
