just saw the zuhair murad fall winter rtw 2025 and was overcome by a need to assign them to the rule 63'd grid so. proceed if u wish.

charles - a bit of cheating bc this was my favorite and if u weren't aware i am quite fond of charles. HOWEVER. the sheer top and pussycat bow are very girl charles to me and i think she'd gravitate to these massive pants for obvious reasons

lewis - loves a bold silhouette and cool shoes and i think she'd wear the shit out of this (left) HOWEVER. right was just too good not to include)

fernando - vaguely menacing and regal....also a little slutty and if i saw an older women in this i'd fall to my feet , as i imagine is the effect she sometimes has on rookies

lance - ok i know she'd probably want something more comfortable + chill but it's the perfect shade of green...she's not happy about this but she's amenable enough

george - i have two for her bc they are the perfect color and i truly couldn't decide....i'll say 1 is what she'd like to wear (LEG. LOOK AT LEG) and 2 is what she ends up wearing bc of the voices in her head (also great, shows abs, commanding and understated)

kimi - i can't explain it but it makes sense. young girl in something that's threatening overpower her but she just manages to carry it off

max - looks comfy af and no frills. also i have thoughts about that neckline on racing driver neck. she would get into an argument about wearing something more 'formal' with someone and refuse to go if she was made to wear anything else

yuki - yuki in black and silver is a very important concept to me, and i love this dress so. a bit of favoritism again

pierre - rule 63'd pierre adheres to popular ideas of femeninity as much as real pierre adheres to ideas of bro-ness. she's pulling up in this and an overpowering spritz of miss charming by juliette has a gun (i kinda wanna assign them fragrances now)

ollie - i almost gave this to charles but she's a grown woman now and she knows it....ollie thought? young girl bursting onto the scene, bashful youthful and pretty. and in red. (also love love love this one the 1960's house wife in has been activated by that silhouette and the matching !!!! bag and belt. the bag. i need it)

esteban - color match, for one, but i like how no nonsense it is while still being sooo pretty.

franco (sorry i have no read of jack doohan) - (right side) this one was soo hard so many good options but ultimately. she pulls up in this all cutesy sexy secretary ready to go milf hunting

oscar - (right side) serving masc realness

lando - (left side) she's trying to compensate for the overwhelming insecurity with sequins and black and sideboob and leg and being the most gregarious one there. is it working?

You want covering theory.

The infinite plane grid is the universal cover of all other square-grid structures, and projects onto them via covering map (which is a projection in the topological sense, but stronger). The universal property is that if X is the universal cover of A (with covering map X -> A) and B is another space that covers A (so B -> A), then there is a unique covering map X -> B which makes the triangle commute.

The spaces that cover a given space A are in 1:1 correspondence with the subgroups of the fundamental group of A, and the universal cover corresponds to the trivial subgroup.

Incidentally, covering theory is also the reason all possible square-grid structures, after filling in the square faces, are just the plane, the cylinder, the möbius strip, the torus and the Klein bottle. If you have a filled-in square-grid structure, it has to be a manifold (because locally you’re making it one), and it has to admit a flat geometry (because you’re gluing it together out of flat Euclidean squares, and around each vertex you have 4*90° angles, so 360°, so that’s also flat).

So if you have a square-gridded manifold, it is 1) flat (so by classification of surfaces, one of the five mentioned above), and 2) covered by the plane via a covering map, which locally just looks like an isometry (grid chunks map to grid chunks without stretching or compressing), but (except for the identity map from the plane to the plane) the preimage of a small grid chunk of your square-gridded manifold consists of multiple (infinitely many) disjoint grid chunks on the plane, evenly spaced out.

Okay, that was incredibly hand-wavey, but that’s the idea. Do ask me questions about this, covering theory is one of my favorite bits of math.

so I'm tinkering with growing graphs like crystals and looking for ways to constrain their global structure, which is tough to do with local rules.

one obvious possibility is to declare that a specific edge is non-cyclic, such that if you follow it repeatedly you will never see the same node twice, however this doesn't constrain the topology as much as you might expect!

an infinite grid is non-cyclic, while a torus is cyclic in both axes and a cylinder is cyclic in one, but you can make a modified cylinder where one axis wraps around like a helix or screw that is technically non-cyclic in that you never repeat the same node but you do end up adjacent to the same node, probably not what you want.

now arguably this should be ruled out by a different axiom about the orthogonality of axes, but while orthogonality is easy to talk about for square grids it's going to get messier for hexagonal or pentagonal grids, so it would be nicer to find a way of ruling out "cyclingish" topologies that doesn't depend on it.
