All these asks about dolls has unlocked an old memory of mine. Do you remember the lalaloopsy dolls? The ones with buttons for eyes and lived in a felt world? I used to collect the mini ones because I found them cute.

But, looking back at them now, I can't help but feel that the aesthetic has a strange resemblance to Coraline with the button eyes. The movie and the dolls released only a year apart from each other too. I think it's just a coincidence, though.

Sorry, plushes and dolls (while nowhere near as in-depth for me as my other interests) are something that, whenever I get the chance to talk about, all of the discussion comes pouring out!

As for Lalaloopsy dolls, I never had them but I do remember them

They're cute! Definitely a middle point between ragdolls (your Raggedy-Ann and Andy's) and conventional plastic-sculpt dolls. I can definitely see how someone would say that they're just a few notches away from falling into 'Grimcute' style.

I'm sure there are OOAK artists out there who take these and push them over those last few notches.
