Glad all 3 of the men in goatniklasedin are still in the hunt for the Boost National #GSOC title and will score me fantasy curling points in the QF, but bummed they’re on the same side of the bracket meaning only one of them can reach the final. As a hardcore fangirl, I can get used to seeing @teamniklasedin qualifying first for a GSOC QF, it’s been a rough couple of seasons. I’m sure by the time I settle on the caption for this post the player stats would’ve changed already, but it’s nice to see both @cr1ppa & @niklasedin at 💯 I’ve been spoiled w/ Christoffer always being nearly perfect at game & I’m basically the shocked woman in a telenovela GIF on Twitter whenever his % drops below 90, but it’s nice when two guys are 🔥🔥 Keep it up guys. . . GSOC cancels remaining events of 2019-20 season
Sportsnet and the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling are cancelling the remaining events of the 2019-20 season: Princess Auto Players’ Championship in Toronto, and Humpty’s Champions Cup in Olds, AB.
The safety and well-being of the players, volunteers, fans and employees is a top priority.
We are working closely with our partners to determine the next steps and we will share ticket refund details in the coming days. The Players’ Championship will return to Toronto in April 2021, and we are working with local organizers to bring the Grand Slam series to the Olds community in 2021.
We thank all fans for their understanding and support.

AI researchers have looked at Magic already; MtG is estimated to be much, much harder than Starcraft, for example. (Lets imagine that it’s at least a full generation past what we can do now.) Put another way, those bots you trounce in Duels of the Planeswalkers/Magic:Arena aren’t just intentionally turned down. (There are tricks available to game designers looking to create a fun player-vs-computer experience that don’t work when the computer is playing itself. Roughly speaking, the bot can cheat in a way that’s invisible and enhances fun. This isn’t helpful for automated playtesting.)
For systems like these, the best bet is probably the ““teach the computer the rules of the game, and let it teach itself how to play” method, but training these systems requires verifying that the computerized games were played correctly (if you let errors through, you contaminate the model and the training set). Right now, that requires a lot of people time, and those people are pretty rare (just think about how many FNM games play out with slightly wrong rules). On top of that, the things you want to test nearly always involve some new mechanic, so your testing models need to train at the same time you want them to crunch.
All in all, it’s not impossible, and it’s likely to happen eventually, but it’s not yet available. I look forward to reading the masters thesis or GSoC project that makes it happen, though!
Regarding testing for older formats, are you looking at automation? I've got to think you've got magic-playing bots. You let the bots play tens of millions of games with some new cards, look at the aggregate results, human testers can then play test decks that had a win % over whatever threshold you choose and see if it's an actual problem. You'll never have enough people to match the playerbase, so I think automated testing has to be a big part of the answer.
We are far away from automated playtests.

[Packt] Introduction to Deep Learning with Caffe2 [Video]
Create powerful applications for the real world using Caffe2 video course Deep learning is one of the most highly sought-after skills in the technology sector. If you want to take a crack at AI, then this course will help you do so. One of the many reasons for choosing Caffe2 for this course is its processing speed as compared to other platforms. Since the basis of the architecture in Caffe2 is CUDA, it provides flexibility in optimizing the code as per the hardware being used. You’ll learn the foundations of Deep Learning, understand how to build neural networks and develop an understanding of convolutional networks, RNNs, Adam, Dropout, BatchNorm and more. You’ll be working on various projects throughout this MOOC with a focus on how to train and manipulate a deep neural network effectively. You’ll practice all these ideas in Caffe2 using Python programming languages. By the end of the course, you’ll gain an understanding of every element of Caffe2 and be able to use the library in the most efficient way. All the code and supporting files for this course are available on Github at https://github.com/PacktPublishing/Introduction-to-Deep-Learning-with-Caffe2 Style and Approach An exhaustive course packed with step-by-step instructions, working examples, and actionable advice on understanding Caffe2 to build deep learning applications. This course is properly segmented so that you can learn at your own pace and focus on your area of interest. What You Will Learn Caffe2 architecture and how to use the platform efficiently Setting up Caffe2 on your system Working with a Simple Neural Network application Implementing Back-Propagation and Gradient Descent Exploring different layers of CNN and the problem of Image Classification Understanding RNNs and LSTMs Diving into the different layers of Caffe2 Experimenting with activation functions using caffe2 Understanding the importance of weight initialization and optimization in deep learning Authors Abhishek Kumar Annamraju Abhishek Kumar Annamraju, is the CTO and co-founder at Tessellate Imaging. His research areas include computer vision, machine learning, NLP and photogrammetry. As a part of his undergraduate thesis and then continued employment at Tata Elxsi, India, he built and later lead the machine learning and sensor analytics team. He has research papers on cascade classifiers and shape based object analysis, and a research on traffic sign classifier with accuracies reaching upto 99% as per GTSRB stats is one of the state of art solutions available. He participated in the Google Summer of Code (GSoC), 2016, program, working with Open-Detection, to develop a deep learning oriented vision based classifier and an end-to-end GUI based classifier training module. His past projects include image based monitoring solution to curb illegal sand mining, on-road real-time vehicle detection, 3D facial model generation and classification, deep learning based face recognition, and camera auto-calibration for fisheye images (Tesseract Imaging, India). He was also a part of Mahindra rise challenge, 2014, to develop real-time stationary-cam object detection modules. His research work includes projects involving forensic sketch to image matching and biomedical image processing. He likes playing frisbee in his free time and loves to travel. Abhishek earned a B.E (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronics engineering rom BITS Pilani University, India. Akash Deep Singh Akash Deep Singh, is the COO and co-founder at Tessellate Imaging and is passionate about combining Artificial Intelligence and Machine Vision. Prior to Tessellate Imaging, he worked on building solutions ranging from novel systems to detect and classify glioma cancer to a real-time stat generation camera solution for basketball players. He was also part of the team which built India’s first panoramic camera where he acted as the Machine Learning lead. He has a vast experience in building real-time object detection and tracking systems. His past projects include autopilot firmware for Search and Rescue drones, building Disguised and Imposter face recognition software, an all-terrain navigation vehicle and sketch to face image matching for forensics. It works 😂 I really hope I can make it to the Players’ Championship 2020 for my birthday trip. I’ve never been to #Canada or a #GSOC event, and I need a proper photo w/ all of Team Koe.
