The History of Gumboots
Gumboots Melbourne have a long and rich history. They were first used for mining purposes, and they soon became a popular form of dance, which has been performed in many countries. The gumboot originated in South Africa, and is a traditional dance that is associated with the country's cultural heritage. The gumboot dance began as an expression of unity among the people, and later developed into a unique dance form.
The main benefits of wearing gumboots are that they are waterproof, warm, safe, and easy to clean. Unlike other types of footwear, you can simply wash and dry gumboots to keep them in good condition. Besides that, they are also comfortable and can be put on again after a rainy day.
Gumboots are popular among all kinds of people, from farmers to fishermen. They keep feet dry in the harsh environment. The gumboots are also popular with cow cockies, who use them when milking cows. Even firefighters and surgeons wear gumboots. They also make a great fashion statement. Many young people also wear gumboots to summer camps or school. They are also essential for farmers, and they often come with hip waders.
Gumboot dancers are common in tourist areas of South Africa, such as the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. The routines are often parodies of gold-mining officers and based on African worker dances. The dance involves idiophones that are similar to those used in African-American step dances.

Tumblr media
BLURB
I’m used to helping people fight for their lives. But I’ve never had anyone in my corner before…
The ER department is chaotic and intimidating to most. But for me, it’s one of the few places where I don’t feel like a disappointment. Heading up the team of a busy Philadelphia hospital isn’t exactly a picnic, but I’m confident here. Untouchable.
That is, until Carter Grange walks through the door.
He might be a little banged up, but that doesn’t stop his muscular frame rippling with power — or his deep blue eyes from piercing my soul. Carter is definitely not the sort of man I need right now, but when we find ourselves thrust together again by pure chance...well, the chemical pull is irresistible.
Problem is, I have a messy past snapping at my heels, and a young daughter to protect from its clutches. This tattooed mobster isn’t the kind of man I should be playing house with.
But when push comes to shove, will Carter step into the ring for us?
My Fight is book three of the Men of New York series by Samantha Skye. It is a suspenseful, single parent, opposites attract, reverse age-gap, dual POV mafia romance.

Family Serenity and Freedom at Your Doorstep
By Maree Smith
Tumblr media
When I think about Eagle Dream Lodge, my body naturally starts to relax and I feel like I can breathe again.
If you are looking for somewhere to take the family where you can bond away from the bustle of everyday life, where parents can relax and children can have freedom all while being close to Australia's beautiful wildlife, then Eagle Dream Lodge is your place!
Watching the sunrise or the mist blanketing the hills from the front decking with a cup of fresh coffee in your hands, is absolutely breathtaking. Relaxing, listening to the native birds singing, kangaroos feeding around you and rabbits hopping about, is just magical.
Not far from Daylesford, Eagle Dream Lodge is just one and a half hours from Melbourne and is set on 77 acres of absolute beautiful bushland and rolling hills.
As a family, there is a load to do without even leaving the property! We have visited this property twice now and every time, feel no need to leave, since there is too much to do.
There are two small dams on the property full of yabbies, which the kids loved catching for hours.
Tumblr media
On one of our bush walks we were lucky enough to find an echidna, very special for the children to find one in its natural habitat.
Off to the side of the house there's the old game of horseshoe, this can be great fun with the kids and a sneaky beer/wine for the adults in the gorgeous sunset.
Tumblr media
My crazy cats swam in the pool even though it was cold, situated at the back of the house, it has a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. Parents can join in or sit back, relax and watch the kids.
Because you have the entire 77 acres, the children are able to be kids and have some freedom adventuring around the property without Mum and Dad's prying eyes. It was great to see the kids toddle off on their bikes and go looking for rabbit holes or finding new areas of the property to show us.
There are tee pees and campfires everywhere around the property and are fun to build together as a family over the duration of your stay.
Tumblr media
Staying at the property when it has been warm and cold, we found both to be just as wonderful as each other, with different family experiences each time. Just take your gumboots and a rain jacket and nothing can stop you! However if it is torrential rain outside, no need to worry, you have a beautiful view to gaze out to and there are plenty of games in the house to play or books lying around for you or your children to read.
If you still want some luxuries of surburbia, there is a TV with great reception, and plenty of good phone coverage.
Eagle Dream makes for a very affordable holiday as all you are really paying for, is the fuel to get there and the actual accommodation. Since you’ll be taking your own food and drinks from home, your bikes, football, cricket bat and bathers you won't be spending extra money on going out for dinner or to some tiring attraction.
Eagle Dream is a property not to miss out on experiencing, no need to take a week off work, 3 days feels like more than enough time to fully unwind in this serene setting.

If marathons exist for people to prove that they're intrinsically better than you, ultramarathons exist to shame you for drawing the same air as their participants. And Australia's Westfield Sydney to Melbourne Ultramarathon is the pinnacle. The event consisted of a 544-mile run -- we'd give up on driving that -- across brutal and unforgiving territory. So imagine everyone's surprise back in 1983, when a 61-year-old potato farmer named Cliff Young lined up right alongside the strapping young gods and goddesses that normally go in for this sort of thing. Literally toothless, dressed in gumboots and long trousers, he ran in a weird old-man shuffle. Cliff further revealed that he was a virgin who still lived with his mom -- as though that needed elaborating.
By the end of day two, Cliff was not only markedly less dead than everyone expected, but had a sizeable lead on his competitors. This was largely due to his coach/insane friend Wally Zeuschner who, after an exhausting first day of running, accidentally set Cliff's alarm clock for 2AM. For the remainder of the race, Wally was right there, informing Cliff that sleep was for pussies, and hacking off foot blisters with a rabbit knife. When Cliff shuffled his way into Melbourne, he wasn't just ahead of his competitors -- he was miles and miles ahead, having knocked a good two goddamned days off the previous record for the course.

I believe it's consistent with the state that today, at any rate in the Western World people can deflect the peril of a characteristic fiasco. In New Zealand, there is prepared staff to screen dangers identified with seismic tremors, volcanic ejections, tidal wave, flames, and floods. There are state-subsidized associations with staff prepared to oversee fiascoes amid the catastrophe occasions to forestall damage and death toll as a first need, including the two pets and ranch creatures where conceivable.
Flame and flood counteractive action can be taken to keep away from or limit disastrous scale occasions by forward getting ready for precedents with the arrangement of stopbanks, fire breaks and limitations on lodging advancements in flood inclined territories. Great building structure and development of water channels, funnels, extensions, dams, and spillways that can withstand 1 of every 100 to multi-year occasions are ordinarily used to keep away from costly and fatal fiascoes.
Large seismic tremors are in their very own class and can't be forestalled or time of occasion anticipated. In New Zealand, a > 8 size is expected at any point in the near future. see Alpine Fault shake: It will 'probably occur in the lifetime of numerous Kiwis' This could conceivably quickly kill 10's of thousands of individuals and wreck a huge number of structures and other framework including streets, spans, emergency clinics, power supplies which are by law required to fulfill tremor guidelines, but since of their age, or kind of development, particularly multistory might be not able to withstand the powers and ground developments of the real shudder and consequential convulsions. NZ has dynamic volcanic zones, and torpid volcanoes that could emit, however for these, a few and most sufficiently likely cautioning can be given to individuals to clear. For deciding the volcanic emission dangers researchers utilize remote computerized sensors of temperatures and ground shaking, in addition to examining, site visits and examination to build up ordinary examples and all the more intently screen uncommon movement, to offer admonitions to the open when dangers are expanded.
A substantial piece of forestalling fiasco is open attention to dangers, financing to distinguish, evaluate and deal with these dangers, not leaving things to risk as numbness isn't happy when these occasions happen.

Jess Cocks' course walking tips
Tumblr media
Jess Cocks from Victoria competes at 2 star with her ex show hack Regal Royale (Levi) and at Introductory (EvA 80) on a young horse. She has been using CrossCountry ever since it was launched and sends us all her courses. We noticed how smooth and accurate they were so we asked Jess to give tips for our new users...
What advice would you give to a new user?
Take your time until you get used to using it. When adding a fence the app automatically pauses for you so add your jump take your photo then walk around to the back of the jump and press resume. There is no need to walk beside the jump as you had to with “the wheel”. CrossCountry measures the distance from the front to the back of the fence automatically.
Riders who never wheeled a course are starting to use minute markers for the first time. Any tips there?
My watch is always on count up. After using CrossCounty you would know where you have to be at at every minute therefore when your watch hits each minute it beeps at you & you can judge whether you are in front or behind your minutes. I hit start on my watch when the starter says “10 seconds to go” just to make me a fraction behind on all my minutes. This just keeps me on my toes. Any minutes that are open with a lot of galloping room you need to be in front of because when you get to a windy slow minute you need to have some spare time up your sleeve so you don’t incur any time faults.
Any good stories?
Every year at Avenal Horse Trials people always get time faults for going too fast in the Introductory section. Year after year I am caught out just like everyone else. Last year I took CrossCountry & recorded the Intro course so I wouldn’t get time faults for going too fast and I didn’t. CrossCountry worked brilliantly for me.
You measure close to the course designer's distance...
I usually walk my course twice so I would recommend using CrossCountry on your second walk so you know where you are going. If you don’t have time for two course walks if you make a mistake, don’t be afraid to use the erase feature, it works well. I walk my XC in gumboots so I actually walk through my water jumps for top accuracy but if you can’t walk through the water CrossCountry will measure the distance for you. Add your jump i.e: 8a then walk to the edge of the water on the exit side & press resume & CrossCountry will “Catch Up” with you.
Tumblr media
What functions do you like best?
My favorite function is the swiping through the photo’s with the time listed at the bottom of each photo, so you can also run through your minute markers all at the same time. I also really like “Course Sharing” feature the ability to email courses to your friends.
What about walking a course in the rain?
If it is raining I just hit start then put my phone in my pocket to keep it dry until we get to the jump. Then I add a jump and put it back in my pocket and so on.
How do you use the app before you ride?
I swipe through all photos to refresh my memory but then just look at the course in the map view and try to visualize my fences, the turns I need to make and the lines I have to take. If I can’t remember I refer back to the photos once again. At Melbourne International which was our first CCI 2 star I went over it in my head using CrossCountry several times on Saturday night.  I am very happy with how Levi and I handled the event.
Do you download courses from crosscountryapp.com ?
Yes. It is really interesting to see what courses our fellow riders have to tackle interstate and overseas.
How would you like to see CrossCountry app used?
I think that CrossCountry will be a great way for coaches to make comment on how they would ride the course/fence & give comment on the approach, the jump and the landing. This would help spectators and fellow riders understand what thoughts our top riders have about the challenge ahead. Note from CrossCountry: Check out Amanda Ross's guided course walk for the Friends of Werribee Prelim and Yogi Briesner's Grassroots at Badminton BE 100
Any new features you would like to see?
I am 100% happy with CrossCountry and you will be too :)
Download the 5* rated CrossCountry App from the Appstore.

Outpak Resources – Your One Stop Shop for Warehouse Packaging Supplies
Boxes, Knives and Tapes
Many warehouses have a packaging element in their day to day operations. They need ample packaging supplies in order to keep their production going smoothly. Warehouses that typically despatch a high number of boxes are fitted with a tape machine and they need a good supply of VIBAC machine tape or similar. For others who don’t deal with so many boxes, a pistol grip tape dispenser may suffice. Outpak Resources sells a range of packaging tape, speciality tape and tape dispensers at competitive prices. They also sell packing boxes in a range of sizes at discounted prices. A knife is often indispensable in these types of settings, so many warehouses keep a supply of budget safety cutters and replacement blades. Outpak’s range of knives and cutters includes both a budget option and a higher quality selection.
Bags, Packaging, Mailing and Pallet Handling
Appropriate packaging is necessary to make sure items remain intact during transit and that they arrive to the correct destination as planned. OutPak Resource sells a range of warehouse packaging supplies and related accessories such as void fill, bubble wrap, protective bags, pens and markers. For the shipping of palletised goods, Outpak also sells pallet handling equipment, tools and supplies such as pallet wrap, strapping, waterproof pallet covers and pallet sheets.
Safety, PPE and First Aid
Think safety at work and make sure you and your team members are wearing adequate PPE as appropriate to the task you are completing and the environment you are in. Developing a safety awareness culture in a workplace can be very effective in ensuring employees adopt safety guidelines. Make sure you have the supplies you need and that you reorder well before you run out. Outpak Resources sells a range of Safety and Personal Protective Equipment including bollards, bunting and cones for zoning off areas, disposable clothing and gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, protective headwear, speciality gloves and dust masks.
General Warehouse Supplies
There a few items most warehouses can’t do without. Simple housekeeping supplies such as hand soap, paper towel and toilet paper, for example. Then they probably need a small range of kitchen necessities, such as instant coffee, UHT milk and disposable cups for hot and cold drinks. Then there’s the cleaning side of things like dishwashing liquid, clothes and wipes, cleaning agents, brooms and mops. Outpak Resources sells all these under the same category; Warehouse Supplies, meaning you’ll find everything you need from a housekeeping point of view on one page.
Safety Clothing and Footwear
High visibility clothing is often required on building sites and other worksites. Whether you need a hi-vis jacket, windcheater, a stack of hi-vis polo shirts or simply a hi-vis vest, Outpak Resources can help you. We sell a range of high visibility clothing at competitive prices. 5 People Who Ruled At Things They Had No Right to Even Try
If we were to tell you the person who performed your emergency appendectomy wasn’t an actual surgeon — just some guy who happened to be giving a sing telegram to the hospital that day, and figured he was good with knives, so why not? — you might be a bit miffed. But what if he is not simply saved your life, he included a few inches there while he was at it. Yes, there . Suddenly you’re not mad; you’re simply amazed. He had no business doing it at all, yet he altogether exceeded. Just like …

A 61 -Year-Old Hillbilly Reigns His Very First Ultramarathon
If marathons exist for beings to prove that they’re intrinsically better than you, ultra marathons exist to reproach you for describing the same air as their players. And Australia’s Westfield Sydney to Melbourne Ultramarathon is the steeple. The occurrence consisted of a 544 -mile run — we’d give up on driving that — across merciles and unforgiving area. So imagine everyone’s bombshell back in 1983, when a 61 -year-old potato farmer named Cliff Young lined up right alongside the strapping young deities and goddesses that are commonly go in for this sort of situation. Literally toothless, dressed in gumboots and long trousers, he ran in a creepy old-man shuffle. Cliff further been demonstrated that he was a virgin who still lived with his mom — as though that needed elaborating.
By the end of day 2, Cliff was not only markedly less dead than everyone expected, but had a sizeable lead on his contestants. This was largely due to his coach-and-four/ insane friend Wally Zeuschner who, after an wearying first day of ranging, inadvertently determined Cliff’s alarm clock for 2AM. For the rest of the hasten, Wally “ve been there”, informing Cliff that sleep was for pussies, and hacking off foot cysts with a rabbit spear. When Cliff shuffled his route into Melbourne, he wasn’t merely ahead of his competitors — he was miles and miles onward, having knocked a good two goddamned epoches off the previous evidence for the course.
Cliff passed away at persons under the age of 81, but his influence on the play is still evident today. In tell to eke out the maximum possible execution, ultramarathoners now go to bed afterwards, get up earlier, and run in an odd gait that attains them look like fitness zombies.

Nigel Richards Acquires A French Scrabble Tournament Despite Not Expressing A Word Of French
This is Nigel Richards, a Scrabble World Champion and Undefeated Beardmaster.
A native New Zealander, Nigel acquired his national entitle before going on to land European, North American, and macrocosm designations as well. And that’s no aim feat, considering the first time he played the game, he was 28 years old. So where does a World Champion drive, formerly he’s entirely reigned the English-speaking Scrabble scene? Why, he moves on to another language, of course. Even if he doesn’t speak it .
In 2015, Nigel easily took the French macrocosm title with a tally of 565-434 over the Scrabble-nightmare-named Schelick Ilagou Rekawe, and he did it without knowing a lick of French .
How is that even possible? Simply set: Nigel is a mutant. That’s … that’s actually the only rationale. In part of the preparations for the tournament, he just picked up the French Scrabble dictionary and memorized the words. All of them . He may not have had a clue what the vast majority of them intended, but he could play ’em. And he did. And he won. And that’s not humanly possible, so Sentinels are already on the best way of his house.

Ray Stanford Finds Just … All Of The Dinosaur Fossils( Where Experts Said There Were None )
Anybody with a scourge and a fedora to their refer knew that Washington DC was an archaeological dead zone, due to its iron-rich geology. Unfortunately, College Park, Maryland native and self-taught paleontologist Ray Stanford only had math-teacher glasses and a bolo tie. He didn’t know DC was devoid of dinosaurs. So there was nothing to stop him from going there, and finding some.
Smithsonian Institute Well, besides geology .
Since 1994, Ray has spent his free time stomping through streambeds and accumulating dinosaur tracks — tracks which, prior to Ray’s discovery, had never been found in the area. He then lends the fogies to his collection at the Stanford Museum … AKA his living room, which examines “like a stone quarry exploded.” When Robert Bakker, readily the most famous paleontologist of the past century, toured Ray’s collection in person, he said, “My jaw abode dropped for the purposes of an hour.”
Marvin Joseph/ The Washington Post Dr. Alan Grant, however, abode thoroughly unimpressed .
The ornaments of Ray’s collection are a pterosaur track so large that it collapses the previously consented sizing of the beasts, and the teensy hatchling footprints of a species Ray personally dubbed Hypsiloichnus marylandicus . That’s just one of various fossils in his collection that the Smithsonian doesn’t even have bones for yet.
So why hasn’t some foundation gifted Ray an honorary doctorate, and applied his skills to official implement? Possibly because all this paleontology business is just a surface gig to his true fury: spy UFOs.
Yep, that’ll do it .

An Undertaker Revolutionized Telecommunications To Spite A Rival
In Kansas City, 1878, Almon Strowger’s initiating business was booming. This was 1878: Life was inexpensive, but apparently extinction wasn’t. A new mortician opened up store only down the road, and before you knew it, Strowger’s customer base dried up. Possibly literally.
This was back in the working day when, in order to make a telephone call, a caller firstly “ve spoken to” business operators, who in turn connected them to their defendant. As it turns out, the upstart undertaker was married to an operator at the local phone company. When callers rang up and asked to be connected to Strowger’s Crematorium Emporium, she’d simply connect them to her husband’s place instead. Plainly, this villainous programme involved a mixture, and for that, Strowger had to tap his flavour animal: Wile E. Coyote.
As a child, Strowger was quite the discoverer, whipping up complicated gizmoes to get out of doing chores. So he decided that the telecommunications industry certainly required a road for callers to immediately connect to one another, thereby eliminating the middleman( and pitching any particular asshole hustler straight out onto the street ), and got to work.
With some help from his nephew, and backing from a few business partners, Strowger developed a operating prototype of the Strowger switch. He patented the fabrication in 1891. In 1892, he built his very own phone company in La Porte, Indiana. Though Strowger was ultimately return to the undertaking biz in 1902, his invention would change telecommunications eternally. And that, boys and girls, is how the minds of the retaliation developed your iPhone.

John Corcoran Was A College Graduate, A Beloved High School Teacher, And A Real Estate Wizard( All While Totally Illiterate )
After breezing through both college and grad school, John Corcoran became a highly regarded teacher, before eventually transitioning to the field of real estate, where, by the age of 48, he applied 200 parties, was a multimillionaire, and lived in the lap of luxury in a $ 600,000 villa overlooking the Pacific.
John Corcoran Foundation via NPR “I’m carrying this book exclusively for self-defense! ”
John’s inability to read was clear in elementary school. In his paroles, trying to read characters was like “looking at Chinese, at scribbles.” Of trend, this being 1940 s America, his schoolteachers simply called him lazy and encouraged him to “smart harder.” Left to his own designs, John became a genuinely colossal crook. He convinced others to do his work for him and, in high school, even dated the valedictorian — so she could do his homework for him.
He chiselled his way into a teaching gig, where he was well-loved by his high school students — for them, social-studies class meant tossing the textbook aside and participating in an impromptu debate, what’s suspicious about that ?! — and he generally “re going away” with it. Then one darknes, the jig was up. As John “read” a children’s story to his minors, his wife listened in. She realized he was just stimulating shit up as he went along, and announced him out on it. He has since haunted tutoring, and acted through his illiteracy. Hell, he’s even authored two books on the subject. Truly, it’s an inspiring narrative. You can cheat your behavior through anything!
